I wasn't even jumping or anything! My plan is to replace the bearings with the axle, when I can eventually find them. Until then I do have the Ninja 500 backup auxiliary bike, it's a kwacker but I wear a helmet, nobody will know it's me.3 points

if you live in any kind of rural area its hard tp meet like minded people without the internet. We still haven't found a good group to ride with, its all patch clubs, middle age mods and drunks on scooters that have lost their licenses so its a 50cc scooter or Shank's pony for you boy.3 points

I came to my place for the weekend today, nice cool 23 or 24 for most of the trip, got home, got Maria's car warmed up and went for fruit on it, fixed the toilet, washed my summer jacket, nice day today. Just had dinner, a little bit of goat's cheese, a simple pea sort of curry dish, and too much white wine, got a buzz going and feeling fine. Tomorrow, I'll ride to the hills, and maybe even go to lunch on my favourite restaurant. This area is Portugal's Covid hotspot, so won't go near town.3 points

Remember "Bike of The Month" from the early days of DSUK/MB? It was when members would submit one pic of their bike taken that month.......and people would vote for the best one at the end of the month.! If I'm right in thinking that was when @Buckster came out with the legendary one liner "I voted for @MooN because he's a cunt". I reckon it's time we brought it back.....or some variation of it! What you reckon?2 points

Shit? It had mud splattered all over the back of it from riding the XR a couple of weeks ago. That won't do for riding the GS to the Algarve later this month.2 points

I actually look better now, bald, than I did before. I had longish hair when it started to fall, so I ended up looking like a mix of a fat Einstein and Krusty the clown.2 points

For some reason the Gov told everyone to buy diesels with some nice incentives. They now realise they're cancer and respiratory prob causing polluting dirt machines. I agree, should but the road tax on fuel.2 points

Coming back from downtown Sturgis, we followed a woman on a Sportster who absolutely would not lean her bike. She was so determined not to lean it was hilarious and frightening at the same time. One could almost argue that it took considerable skill to ride that bolt upright but the wobble told us otherwise!2 points

99.9p here too. As kids we used to run anything we could get running round the corn fields at the edge of our estate. Charge kids to have a ride around the field to raise 16p for half gallon of 2 star.1 point

My thoughts exactly, and I bet it's quicker than you think. I bet it'd be great fun.1 point

Next time I want to fit some 70/30 or 50/50 I might go for MotoZ, these look to be a little bit less roady than my TKC70, being Dunlops they will probably smooth and safe on road1 point

That's the image that the manufacturers have sold them Bob! And what they don't seem to want to accept is that a completely different set of riding skills are needed.1 point

Thats by design, the kids are either out of the house or in the basement by now, so the wife gets a big life insurance policy, and a motorcycle for the hubby....1 point

I seen a few in the US, usually on Harley-Davidson. People who only get the bike out to be seen on group rides on memorial day and the like. In the US people can ride just about anything on a learners permit so it is always a recipe for disaster. Two examples I can think of out of many are my first ride with a group, there was a guy on a 1200 Sportster, he kept drifting towards other bikes, ran into the back of a couple of people, I just stayed way back out of his way. When we stopped I told him to stay away from me to prevent a premature ending to his life, he went home at that point. Another group ride in the Georgia mountains and a female rider on a newer version of my bike, riding on a learners permit was really struggling in the bends, at one point she was drifting towards the drop off so I rode up the right side between her bike and the side of the road, took my left hand off the bars and placed a single finger on the end of her handlebar, just enough pressure to get her through the corner. We stopped and had a talk about steering and she was fine after that. She admitted she had frozen up on the corner and would have ended up over the edge. She turned into a good rider over the following months. There were a lot of women riders on Harleys in GA and in general they were excellent riders, the worst riders were usually men who started riding later in life.1 point

Great photos, looks like a cool place to stop during a ride. Abandoned places are very interesting, to me at least. Stopped by your YouTube channel, Grasshopper's Ride has subscribed! ?1 point

Another one one i remember was at the top end of the Elan Valley. I Stopped to look at the view above a couple of sharp bends in the road as it was a nice day and saw a large group of bikes coming towards me in the distance, so decided to hang about to see what was going on, as i was watching them start to ride up towards me two of them just fell off on the bend below they were travelling just over walking space and just keeled over like someone had switched them off. Chatting to one of the group that manged to get to me he said they were on a led ride out from a bike rally and half of them had never ridden a country road before and didn't know how to ride around a tight uphill bend, these were guys who were 50+ Street view of where i stopped to admire the view with said bend look how difficult it is not https://www.google.com/maps/@52.3311763,-3.6070901,3a,75y,265.41h,93.6t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s5G9_J2rVEanwnVjPshuLqA!2e0!7i13312!8i66561 point

Very similar here. i would just add that i've met some really good motorcycle enthusiasts thru all this online stuff, that i wouldnt have met otherwise. Even Bruce, whom i plan on meeting in the flesh someday soon. Dont really care what bike you ride, just that you love to ride. Grew up on Hondas, went thru Kawis and a Groundpounder and a Road Glide before choosing my current brand. I just love tweaking the nose of those who think their bike choice defines them, and defines them as better than others. Especially them KTM guys. They are totally clueless ?1 point

Great quote, Goucho Marx was also an american so you can get away with it. Regarding this whole biker / non biker nonsense, I think you're all getting a little bit of cabin fever. I, for one, refuse to see myself as a biker. I just like riding bikes and what they do for me, not really into the whole kindred spirit thing connecting me to every twat on two wheels, except if she's got a nice smile and clever humor. I enjoy riding my bikes, more so if I'm by myself since that is what I'm looking for, time alone. I wave to other people on bikes, and stop if someone is stranded on the side of the road, but don't pretend I have any sort of connection to them, and in fact usually assume I don't. Having said that, I have a couple of friends who also ride bikes and I spend some time with them, usually over a meal and plenty of wine instead of riding bikes, couldn't care less if that takes away from me being considered a biker since I am just a guy who enjoys riding and traveling on bikes. Whenever people assume I would like to hang around someone else just because they also ride a bike, I am the first to correct them saying they can annoy me as much as anyone else, if not more1 point

What i find unfair is i have a 3L petrol car and have driven about 3000 miles in the last two years in it, yet i have to pay about £290 a year but someone paying £30 a year can drive 20-30000 miles a year and are considered to be polluting less than me that's why it should be on the fuel and not separate.1 point

Ha ha no mate just a serial bike changer. I loved that TL and bought it new off my mate when he worked in a Suzuki dealership. If I remember it was a 1998 model and I've always regretted selling it so when the same mate said he had a 1997 model sitting in his garage that he was willing to sell I bit his hand off! It's in the UK at the moment and he's giving it a good going over and replacing a few bits and bobs like fork seals etc, he's given it a full service and making sure it's in top condition before I get it over here. Can't wait and it's worth the cost of getting it on Spanish plates.1 point
