  4. My presemce has been equested and required at work tomorrow, but I had to pick N01 up from the physio at 16h00 so the afternoon was pretty screwed by the time I could get out with the bike, but I squoze in a last ride before real life restarts. having not planned anything and not wanting to waste time doing so I just did one of my "box the compass" rides ie ride north for half an hour ( west of north in this case) then turn left and ride west for half an hour, then turn laft again to ride south for half an hour and left again for a half an hour... not being too particular about the time and only roughly the direction, I just take the next promising looking road the looks like it goes the right way, found some crackers today. I said the other day that I often come across these, this one was again in the middle of nowhere, down a dirt track somewhere out towards Aillant sur Tholon. " eternel souvenir of the resistant CHAPOTIN Henry of AUGY, chief warrant officer, shot by the gestapo *th August 1944 at the age of 19." up across the tops, dodging the rain clouds I really should have thrown that bloody orange sign in the ditch before taking this photo! Back in the sunshine and into the woods found a nice country retreat for my retirement it was starting to get late , gone 19h30 already so I headed for home with no more photo stops. did about 130k in all, just bimbling around.

  12. How many fingers do you use to pull on your levers (not that sort), clutch and brake. Do you use a different amount on the brake to your clutch ? Are you a flash fucker with no clutch lever (Honda DCT) ? You wanted some new threads Pete, this is top drawer stuff, feckin rivetting ? Personally I use two fingers on each

  14. And if you're really bored: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knocker_(folklore) A mythical creature called a "TommyKnocker" kept the miners safe. Today, in the next town over (Idaho Springs), there is still a brewery called TommyKnockers - named after the English. Shame their beers sucks - should have gotten a few English brewers to come over as well.

  15. Found a better pic of the Welsh Wall in it's heyday. The two big buildings are still there today. One is still a church and the other is the Police Station (big blue building in pics above)

  16. I think you will find all the real old people were born in the 50's

  17. And this is the Welsh Wall. Portions of it are modern but you can see the old portion still in there. Couple of old pics showing the Wall in the 1880's...
    2 points
  18. But there are lots of examples where the walls / foundations are still in use. The Welsh made walls have no mortar whereas more modern walls here do have mortar...

  19. It is pretty cool living out in the boonies..until you need something like groceries, fuel, etc. Then it sucks as the nearest shop of any kind is 30 miles away. But still, it's worth the extra effort.

  30. Gold. When gold was discovered here, the companies that owned the mines needed experienced miners as none were in the US at the time. So, they enticed the English, Irish and Welsh experienced miners to come here. Later, other nationalities came, but it was all UK initially. Funny, if the old western movies were accurately done, most of the characters would have had English, Irish and Welsh accents. It's amazing how many of them were here. Read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_County_Regulators#:~:text=The Lincoln County Regulators%2C or,County War in New Mexico. The Regulators were famous and led by John Tunstall from England. The movie "Young Guns" was about this group.

  35. Got that album. My left eye feels like there's something in it. Felt like it on and off for 6 months. O by the way, Lewis Hamilton has said we should pull down all statues of people that had anything to do with the slave trade. Followed this lad for years, well before F1, defended him against people says he's an arrogant nob. Twat can kiss my spotty left cheek now.

  42. Has anyone watched this film? Just watched it over the week-end and if you are looking to watch one determined human, this is your film. I don't think I need to go to this extreme but it sure is fun watching someone else do it. I would just be happy to hike this route.
