I was a Salesman in Currys 72-73 and now and again I'd have to go out in the van.....either Transit or Escort. So the local girls' school was on the itinerary. One time I picked up two birds in the Escort.....they got in the back and I wheelspun away from the school. They flew backwards and went flying out the back door onto the road. I left them there and carried on as if nothing had happened. Cos that's the way I rolled back then! Thinking about it.......nothing much has changed since! Except if I hung around girls' school at my age I'd get put on the Sex Offenders Register! ? While I was doing ungentlemanly shit in Swansea back then I've no doubt that @Renegade was doing the same thing in Cardiff! The teeth days were good times Phil!4 points

don't even go there Bob, doing the handover involves a whole rituel of protocols that will make the handover take about 2 hours I reckon, this saturday we have 8 to do. punters arrive from 2pm, there are 2 of us ablr to do complete handovers... I have suggested to the directors that they need to organise some extra hours in the day cos 4 handovers each, at 2 hours a peice starting at 2 means we'll finish at around 10pm... except that the locks shut at 7...3 points

picked up a load of frog and belgian bookings out of nowhere and plenty brits too now they're allowed out of their cage. if there's a significant "2nd wave" and re-lockdown then we're fucked, but otherwise should survive, with a bit of hard graft, blood sweat and tears...( not to mention wailing and gnashing of teeth! )3 points

Freaking hot today, butt, i needed my horsepower fix, you can only ride a thumper for so long before you want to throw them off a bridge. So..i visited my grandparents. They should have listened to Bob, he was really sick ya know! And the traditional hands of the hips selfie perfected by non other than our own @XTreme2 points

And I managed to get Motul this time! What a difference......engine purrs and tickover has dropped! Now I know you can always feel a difference when you change the oil.......as it's old v new. But the Repsol had only been in there for 5 months, and had done only 1800kms/1100 miles. Surprisingly, all went well.....no disasters! Except for managing to burn my finger on the downpipe!1 point

My next oil change is due at 106,000 miles. I will make a lovely job of getting all the oil into the drain tray, none will leak over the floor, the filter will be carefully emptied so as not to splash anything. And then I will blood kick the drain tray by accident or some other clumsiness and there will be oil everywhere. I am like the Jack Douglas of oil changes.1 point

I managed to have no spillage disasters today Fred! Very unusual! The worst to do are the XT600's with the oil in the frame. Virtually impossible to do those without some sort of spillage. Well I've never managed it!1 point

Test ride today, freaking humid hot, the type of weather i never rode this bike because you cooked in her cockpit. Butt, taking the pan off lets the bike dump all the heat out the bottom now. All i need to do is make a skid plate for the radiators overflow tank. Plus Ron Ayres has shipped more parts! Team green will survive!1 point

@Lone Amigo Well, igot two 5 gallon cans, and since both bikes dont have vacumm petcocks, i can use the 7 gallons in the GTR and 6 gallons in the KLR as backup, never have needed that much gas however. This Yam burns very little gas.1 point

This one was done at 36,600 kms.......next one 39k kms. So that'll be 2400 kms / 1500 miles.......probably around December I'd say! At 40k kms I'll be taking it into Juan Cortes for new plugs (it's got 4) and new air filter! That was an easy job in the old days.......now it's remove tank, and all plastics! FFS!1 point

Perma-snow, it;s not going anywhere. Aspen is so fake, very much like LA as most of the people there are from LA. I try to stay outta the place as much as possible. It's fun to take visitors there though - so they can see all of the pretentious people for themselves. But I needed fuel so Aspen it was.1 point
-
You know when you're in Apsen when the pickup trucks and Ford Explorer's quit trying to run you over. It;s replaced with Porsches and Lambo's trying to run you over. Got some fuel at European prices ($5.00 per gallon). Much cheaper - around $2.25 per gallon, in my town. Randon shots at the fuel station...1 point

I've been continuing to follow the path of the former railway line that ran from Guadix (Granada) through Almeria, and ending up in Lorca (Murcia). I've done Caniles and Seron stations.......and today I went to find Baul. This one was quite interesting as it hasn't been restored.....it remains as it was when it closed in 1984. So it's very authentic. And just further on from the Station is the Baul Railway Bridge! It's a complex wrought iron structure that was assembled in 1907 to complete the line between Guadix and Baza. The last train to run across the bridge was on 31 December 1984.......and the line was then closed. Some great shots on the bridge itself.......had to walk as it's blocked off to vehicles! What a photo opportunity that would have been! My Ewan and Charley moment stolen from me!1 point

Pop up the road to Lavenham whilst you are in the area https://goo.gl/maps/Dzb9WeNAmgM4t1MQ7 then take a slow wander round the streets. Same for Castle Hedingham, ignore the castle, wander the streets of the village on foot, then pop next door to the steam railway which you will probably hear tooting every 10 minutes. Oh and Kersey https://goo.gl/maps/qiQhN1E18g2SAUMK7 . People think Essex is full of yobs and electric pylons, but that is the south. North Essex is rammed with medieval timber framed cottages, not just the villages, but every tiny lane you go down you will find tucked away gems. They can cost a million quid plus to buy some of the bigguns, I reckon there's a hundred thousand millionaires tucked away in the countryside there because no one else can afford the house prices.1 point

I remember someone asking him, "was racing Dakar hard?" and he laughed and said no - because all he had to do was ride. In fact, it was the only race event where he actually put ON weight (from all the Argentine barbecues he would stop at between the end of the stage and the bivouac point). The thing that made it easy was having a support team to do the maintenance and logistics. "No, Dakar wasn't hard," he said. "Not compared to all those years racing small enduro eventus in New Zealand every weekend - you'd drive down on Friday night, race Saturday and Sunday, work on the bikes on Saturday night, and drive back on Sunday night, and then get up on Monday morning and go and do your real job. That was hard." So, kudos to him for having put in the hard yards to get to a place where he gets to ride motorbikes for a living, and for being a nice bloke too.1 point

Perfect for you as you don’t have a functioning bike. A few others in here could join you as well.1 point

I've spoken to people about this place and some have said......"I don't have an Adventure Motorcycle". My opinion is it's more about what you do WITH the bike rather than the bike itself. Look at all the GS's with the dustbins that never go anywhere for example........while there's people riding round the world on Honda 90's. So I'd say if you're getting out doing trips (on or off road), visiting places of interest (not the local bike meet up), and doing it all by motorcycle......then by definition it's an adventure motorcycle!1 point
