  2. At the start of the year I visited an abandoned village in Murcia......took loads of pics too. Well it turns out that it wasn't the one I thought it was! It was a completely different one! So this Sunday I'm going to the correct one......not sure how rough it's going to get though! ? But I'm a Pensioner......not a Casual......I can handle it!

  3. So on up to Gloucester where I used the ring road to escape the traffic and then up Birdlip Hill and into the Cotswolds to find some roads like this...... I liked this bridge over a stream at Cowley because of the deorative railings.............. So I did some more back roads and then stopped to eat my sandwiches here............ Eventually I came out on the A435 near North Cerney and spotted this really old church............. I took some more back roads to bypass Cirencester and then the A433 down to Badminton and back home. I really enjoyed the ride but it wasn't exactly very warm for July but apparently it's going to hit 30c on Friday so we'll probably all die

  4. I decided to get out for a road ride today as I shall be starting back at work tomorrow after being out for 4 months due to the covid situation. So I was thinking where to go and in the end plumped for a loop around the River Severn, over to Wales, up through the Wye Valley and back down to home via Gloucestershire. So a blast along the M4 and M48 to get to Chepstow and then up the A466 for a stop at Tintern Abbey.............. So I carried on up to Monmouth but the place was shut ? they were diggin up the High St and there were roadworks everywhere so I gave up trying to get to the spot where I was going to stop for a coffee went back over the Wye and up into the Forest of Dean........ I by-passed Ciderford and took a back road through Blakney which took me past Soudley Ponds. This was a new spot to me so I stopped and had a walk along the bank, there were some big Roach cruising in some of the shallower parts...... I carried on down to the A48 and headed north until I got to Newnham where you can get some good views of the upper reaches of the tidal part of the Severn.........

  8. I know Bristol very well too.....I've worked there a few times over the years. I always liked the place......saw loads of bands in the Colston Hall. Found the people very friendly too......but the women are very easy to shock compared to Welsh girls! I remember saying the word "vagina" in a conversation once.......and one of them said in shock......"Oh my god.....he used the word vagina". I said "Yeh.......but you should hear the word I use on the other side of the fucking bridge".

  9. I know that area well......I lived in Chepstow from 1997 to 2001. And most of that time I commuted to Gloucester and Cheltenham every day because I was managing Computer superstores there. The Foresters are the truly the thickest fuckers in the UK. Some used to come into the store looking to buy computers and they couldn't read. I actually had to read out the product description on the display card for them. No....I'm not joking.

  15. You can't spend all your retirement years like that Clive. These are supposed to be your Golden Years.......that sounds more like a fucking punishment to me. Get down the dealers and get something sorted........or you'll end up as one of the "You Retire and You Die" statistics! Just fucking pull the trigger on something.......no point on planning this or planning that in terms of finances......because none of us know how long we've got. Now is the time to live for today! Get it done my man!

  16. So do I! The only one who's been a good fit for me since the 70's ended is @Renegade. We could cross continents together (if we weren't so old and fucked) and we'd both instinctively know how the other would react to any given situation. So we're not on edge watching what the other one is doing. I do miss riding with the toothless old fucker.......however, I don't miss being seen with him in public when we get off the bikes though.

  21. My son has sung at the Colston hall several times. Of course, we're not aloud to call it the Colston Hall anymore but everyone over 40 years of age will just keep calling it the Colston Hall You should have said 'yer fanny' then they'd have known what it was ?

  23. I used to get a lot of that when I was getting to know Maria's friends in Lisbon, they never swear down there, while my northern self am used to a more colorful language. I used to get a few blank stares when I opened up to them

  24. They are a cracking bike Pedro. Enough speed on the road, can handle the dirt and devoid of all the electronics (that you don't need) imo. I would say that it would be a bit of a push if you wanted to carry a pillion though.

  31. A ride report on the wrong place? TOTY contender? By testing, do you mean to see if he's quick enough? Because if you're way in the distance he can't really be of any danger

  32. Oh yeh! But I'll be going early and back by midday........hopefully before it starts getting above 35C. A Brit guy on the FB Strom group lives about 10 miles away........never met him.......and he's been asking to come out with me! Probably not a good idea because I like to test people....... @Renegade does as well. Sounds a bit harsh, but if you ride with somebody you need to know what their ability level is.......or they could be a risk to you.

  33. Sunday and the roads were crowded with people from the city up in the mountains for the day. So I stayed in my own area and rode some dirt - roads are too rough for cars, so not many people. Stone ruins at the Caribou Mine....

  36. Would be cool to refurbish it into a home as the scenery is great from up here (around 10,000'). A few of the walls are beginning to crumble anbd fall though....

  37. I'm not sure how old these are, but they were reinforced with concrete in the not too distant past. There's also mortar in there, so not too old....

  38. I seem to take a shitload of pictures of trains as I ride around the Rocky Mountains. All of the towns have a train or two up on blocks in the town center. So here are a few. I'll add more here as I see them. Starting off with my home town - Black Hawk, Colorado. These are the trains that were used to haul gold ore from the mines to stamping mills for processing....

  39. Ride along with a New England fast guy My brother Jim, captain of the OldMenThatUsedToRace had his GoPro 360 rolling. He was clearing all the big jumps, I was not. He came up on me and passed me at about the 2min mark in the video. There's also an old RM370 that he passes at the tail end. Enjoy!

  40. A neighboring town, Silver Plume (wonder what they mined there?) has it's own train for tourists to ride as well as a small museum. But the cool part is the engine house where they repair the trains. They also have a nice, original station...

  41. The other train in town, bears the same Engine Number - although I don't know why. Maybe they shared the same line / route or something?

  45. I should do a train thread - every freakin' town here has at least one or two old steam loco's sitting on rails in their town center. Our small town has at least 2-3 of them. Here's one from Idaho Springs - next town over from ours..
