Today I tracked down the abandoned Spanish village of Retamalejo in the Murcia province. It originally had 25 dwellings there.....most are in ruins now, and it's been empty since 1980. This one was hard......despite leaving early in the morning it got very hot, very quickly. By the time I'd walked round there in the heat my hands were shaking so much I was struggling to take any more pics! Yes it was that bad.......and I've now got heatstroke! I was thinking to myself.....why am I still doing crazy shit like this at 66? Well I don't know the answer to that.....but I do know that it's a better option than being incarcerated in an Old Folks Home!3 points

So true, I know a few people where I live that have been run off the road, scary if the side ditch is WAY DOWN... I was worried the weight would transfer back my way and keep coming right onto ME ?2 points

Completely agree, it was a Saturday and as you can see we were not the only ones out having fun. I know the trucks have the right of way out there, but maybe take it back about 20% so everyone gets home for dinner....2 points

Living somewhere there arnt any trails to go riding off road might have something to do with it! Not riding if moisture levels are over 22% is another! @XTreme Courtesy phone please, cleaning advice needed! I do take care of my things so they last longer, im still wearing levis i bought in the late 1970's. ??2 points

I was out riding along the forest service roads the other day...on a lovely summer day, not knowing the close encounter with danger that was in my near future. Now riding an adventure bike in the backcountry or participating in any activity really, always has the potential for accidents to happen. On these forest service roads in ? British Columbia many interesting things await you around a corner, some perhaps travelling a little swiftly and at angles that can be alarming. ? A scary moment for all involved as the Grasshopper meets a monster on a lovely ? summer day.2 points

@XTreme Have you tried something like this to keep some air flow on your undercarriage https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-Scooter-Cool-Seat-Cover-Double-Layer-Non-Slip-Insulation-Cushion-Pad/353074666740?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item5234e3dcf4%3Ag%3AkwIAAOSwnSBeuKlj&enc=AQAFAAACcBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%2Fn%2BzU5L90Z278x5ickkWpEuxXwAiCNKyBQsQ5%2Fe6xr187XaUB2nCVFiAeff7zuKhBaNs%2FjD7yvrmESGGoPLMN3lnsp34CPtrz70zOaMvI6gta9PjwEXE1qTRzozCQJ0KonpGV6r%2FQ0A%2FOriC%2FBnelXGjKJeI5A4S1p9Vx4mkY%2B2DLZ50yFzPm5S4IMQ50PE7oWS6HSEuzcUk7llrjdvjBhSX1miABdtXeZfWM85X%2FpWArUBIY2wG3hRZb%2FfxVBiV6VxCaR8rgC%2BLkdBf%2BT9H3e6%2FaPRFO0Me9arQyjs%2Fyr6XAUPBwE6snLUbXuX15R%2F7ewUurkc4kWydxjOdNb%2Bi6DySF4JK6XLZLaAF%2FQ3utp%2BUuKoPkMuhdxTK%2B1TCC%2FIgoakz0d1k8hVqPETRd8LSqn2L63FeKaYdBVrpTo6Z4fAbOA149zWJVHVmu9jX3Z8x0QqrQlkReaTRtd%2FM7hJDYdI%2BYFxGPBxb%2Fjxcj4JyF6vVDaT8WcJRi0Al0z82XAXI21N9UHP%2Ff9QkWNXKvdaRv1JGmmfpzQ1jE%2BK5vkoHJZcDP5wgR7k9Mjvo2ykZnX85IZhVx7WW7hkaaJ%2Bg543%2FwZPtU%2FPMQNp83tYbUIJIoYyKWQRIaecPfnm19qvOWC%2BjihaWmqkkTxqTj42e6Zcv7gJEJJte39gpeZbhzGPy%2BTEO4WAMmC1QjpjbzyRp2v2kEKKeLNToL%2BzqKaj9EQNoWvzu%2F8pqENB1KDpjJfkpsf2lvLDZw7h8XVm91Y4P4hbjb4qQ28nWJRwDs4WxxQcIeverieLLPpk3510VWDIGg%3D%3D&checksum=35307466674048ebb22985e64dc9abffd7ca4c78377b&fbclid=IwAR3VJn3cBbb9S5h79uTAzoLCN-Z-YeTgnAqu-4LuBgOe5GojKJioxd13svA1 point

Throw some rubbish all over the road in your video and it would be in the same condition as the old parish road to Merthyr ?1 point

He was so spooked by the cyclist that he must have been eating a sandwich or something, for sure not paying attention. I was happy that I managed to pull over and not fall into the ditch beside me. I even put the bike into neutral without knowing I did. ?1 point

I'm hoping the truck driver needed to change is underwear when he got home, brown zone for all involved. ? You are so right, the Himalayan is perfect for the Sunshine Coast and the conditions here, I love it. I was about 45mins from home so I guess I could have dragged my mangled body home to die if needed.... I was so happy to be alive that day, truly. Had to crack open a bottle of expensive Cognac when I got home. ?1 point

I hope you carry a big bottle of water in that topcase, when doing silly shit like that. Getting ahead of the dehydration is half the battle.1 point

What an arsehole, he obviosly wasn't paying attention. Good job you two pulled over smartish .1 point

Well done that man, you deserve a nice cold pint of cider ?1 point

Right idiot. I encounter guys like that sometimes, when they’re harvesting tomato and taking overloaded trailers to the tomato pulp plant, racing too hard only to get to the plant and have 10 trucks to unload in front of them, all working for the same farm. The Himalayan really seems suited to the kind of riding you do, how far away from home is that?1 point
-
Its a nature of that business Pete, try getting in the way of a truck hauling live animals to the market out West, they will drive you off the road. Yes @Grasshopper's Ride he almost tipped over imho1 point
