  6. I just remembered that I did once meet up with a group of strangers for a multi day ride, back in 2013 I rode down to the Vercors to join up with a group of Aissies from austouring forum run by glitch.oz I joined them for 2 days on the northernmost section of their "Tornanti III" alps tour. the meet up timingwas fucked up but for the rest it was a case of just slotting into the group who were superbly welcoming and made me feel like I'd known them for years. They have abviously ridden together a lot and Pete ( Glitch) had obviously put in a LOT or planning and work prior to the trip, it was all very well organised and slick and throroughly enjoyable, no stress, no whining, no stragglers everybody just doing whatever was needed to keep it all together. As Pedro says, it is a rare thing, which is what makes it worth mentioning.

  11. I was doing exactly that. We get a lot of limestone in the water here, and what was coming out of the radiators looked quite white. I drained them all while feeding more fresh water to the boiler to keep the pressure in normal levels. Eventually I get a little warm and clear water through, I think it is working nicer now, will let it do it's thing and see how it goes tomorrow. Heater starts and shuts down a lot quicker than normal, indicating water temperature as being high enough, while in reality it's not flowing that hot to the radiators. I gave up and dedicated myself to heat up some frozen meatballs using wood That's Pete, I'm Pedro, I know it all sounds the same but...

  13. Rode home today, tested the jacket I bought in Spring in heavy rain for the first time. It only lasted for half an hour but I am glad how it coped. Got home to find some rain here too, for whatever reason my boiler isn't heating up the radiators. I know nothing of boilers so will give it time to get over itself before worrying about it. Still have steaming water for the taps and shower so I'm ok. Fire is now starting.

  15. busy playing with the new heating system yesterday, it's programmable over 7 days for both for hot water and central heating, is linked to t'internet and an app on my phone and has more computing power than Nasa used to put Neil Armstrong on the Moon. Maybe we should organise bets on how long it will take me to fuck it up and have to phone someone to come and restore the original settings? Today the highlight will probably be going out to buy essential supplies, everything else being Verboten.

  17. Spent today giving Bagheera a good clean, did some chain maintenance and inspected a new oil leak I have! ? Plan on taking a ride tomorrow and Sunday, not sure where to yet. I might even go shopping, WHAT... but only to Canadian Tire, a wonderful place that sells tools, dirt, more tools. ? Working on my first vlog video, what a weird thing, I'll see how long people can listen to my strangeness. Oh, and plan on making a chicken soup with biscuits on Sunday, might even make some cookies...stop the fun! ??

  19. Today I rode from my home in the countryside to Ericeira in the seaside. It was a bright sunny day, and felt amazing after the last few days’ storm. A short detour exploring an offroad track, I’ll go back with no luggage as it’s a little bit steep. In light of recent BOTM flops I decided to go for a photo shoot. Onwards, always taking the small roads on the map is a good policy for finding cool spots of road. Lisbon’s wine country is looking great will autumn colours. And then, near Ericeira looking at some big waves.

  20. Not wanting to bother with taking stuff apart and risking flooding my kitchen tonight, I just turned the heating on, and switched the tap on and off forcing the system to switch by itself, and I think that has done the trick so far. Now enjoying a cup of barley coffee while watching Sean Connery's "You Only Live Twice". Winter is coming

  22. When I get that it is for this reason. There is a water pump somewhere and it connects to a t-shaped pipe with an electrical box attached to it switching the water from just heating radiators, or just hot water, or both. The valve gets a bit clagged up with limescale so can't turn easily or the electric switch breaks and you end up with the valve stuck in one of the above positions or halfway between. I usually get radiators on when they are not supposed to be. I sometimes take the electric servo off (2 crosshead screws) and turn the pipe valve back and forth a few times with a spanner or pliers to keep it moving freely. The most likely time for the problem is at the end of summer because it hasn't moved to the radiator position for many months.

  23. Used my new cordless chainsaw to cut a small tree down in the vicarage garden behind us today. it was a bit too close to my retaining wall for my liking after 3 years it was already over 10 foot high, logged the thicker bits for the wood burner and burnt all the branches. So a day messing with a chainsaw and fire some of my favourite things LOL

  37. Booked a day off work today so got up late put the front wheel back on the XR after fixing the puncture and re-greasing the wheel bearings. Then managed to get an appointment at the dentist to fill a hole after the filling fell out a couple of weeks into covid. Just lit the fire in the house thinking of putting my feet up with a few beers for the rest of the day

  38. I’ve been in Ericeira, tomorrow will ride home, which only an hour and a bit. May encounter rain and chilly weather but I bought a woolen sweater today! ? Work is still shit and the country is going into partial lockdown, so I’ll go home for a couple of nights of red wine with the fire burning.

  39. Going on a long road trip i will say some company is welcome. When i was invited to join Bob and his mates on a trip to Italy the only one i new was Bob, i only have good memories of the trip and like to think i got on with everyone. The only thing that bothers me is what i eat if it isn't egg and chips I'm fooked where most people will eat any old crap so makes me feel awkward. Hell now i think about it Bob and his mates tried to set me up with one of them due to not being able to get us all booked into a hotel the first night, i had to share a bed with someone I'd never met before he kept his hands to himself most of the night so it was all good
