  1. Rode from home to the seaside today, this is a cool enough area considering it’s a stone’s throw away from Lisbon and some areas which aren’t so cool. It’s also near Ericeira which is a world surf reserve. Lunch was had at a small countryside cafe, no other clients when I arrived, was even left alone taking care of the place It’s a shame we are in winter time, weather is too good for night to arrive so early. After lunch I noticed a sign to some fortification ruins and went to check them out, following some wind farm service roads. Really like these kinds of roads, am eager to go back to some better tires though. Sign doesn’t say when it was built, it was around 1810 to defend against France and Napoleon with help from the Brits. No walls to be seen though, but it was cool to be there anyway. Half an our later through small back roads and arrived at the seaside Nice ride, today, am posting this from @Sofia’s waiting room while being used as a pillow at the same time ?

  3. The Lines of Torres Vedras are quite famous, wouldn't fancy climbing up that with people taking pot shots at me. In fact even without them taking pot shots I'd think twice. If you watch 'Sharpe' on tv you can see a combined army of up to 20 men fighting the French there in one episode. There were over 30 men fighting in the Battle of Waterloo episode. I think they were limited on budgets for that series.

  9. I couldn't tell you Pete, cos I'm obeying the rules and not going out... It is a French national passtime though, finding ways of geting around the rules and regs, they call it " systeme D" and became a national sport during the occupation. I, however have a wife who works in the medical profession and a number of friends who do also at differing levels. They all insist that keeping social interaction to a minimum is the best defence. Me being idiot and obedient, am staying in.

  13. One month away from nominations for MOTY (Man of the Year) and TOTY (Twat of the Year). So keep your eye open for twats......which won't be difficult! What will be more difficult however, is identifying people who are actually making a positive contribution to the forum in terms of the quality of their posts, their interaction with others, advising on bikes etc. In fact it's difficult to think of anybody that serves any useful purpose whatsoever......besides the two ladies of course! You never know.....we may get our first WOTY?

  16. It's the Perfect Storm! Due to Covid we're restricted to staying within the town perimeters, but we're just about out of our Brit food.....inc tea bags! However, the Brit supermarkets are all in Albox, Almeria. And I think you're all familiar with my bi-monthly visits by now! To make things more tricky, I suspect home confinement is heading our way soon.......with Xmas approaching! So after carefully studying the regulations it appears as if we can leave the town area, and the province, if it's work related! And what do you know? I have a client in Albox! So I rang him today, told him the score, and he's giving me an alibi in case I get a pull. So tomorrow, it's keep business papers and laptop in the car, along with tax returns to prove the existence of the business. And the destination will be Albox! Fingers crossed I don't get to experience......

  17. I once had to do that after spinning my car off of a cobblestone road and landing in the middle of a soft grass field. It was raining and the guy wasn't inclined to get himself wet, I had to ask him pretty please

  21. Always been the case though Pedro......Mods and Admins are not eligible for MOTY. And this place was an escape from Facebook politics, Covid, and conspiracies for me during the Lockdown really. In fact I thought it would be just me and @Tym here.......but it turns out there were others who wanted to escape as well. I'm still surprised we're still here and going strong.......and it's followed the DSUK path which is what I wanted. Because in my mind DSUK was always unfinished business.

  22. I hit my ickle Muntjac deer at 75mph, it hit my crash bar with its head I think. All I saw was a flash of fur in my headlight on the unlit 60mph road. If I had been obeying the speed limit I would have hit him full on and fallen off. Went back next day and took a picture, because I thought I had dreamt it until I saw the fur stuck down my greasy swing arm and the pain in my leg.
