  4. Nah, we went 4 months this past summer with no rain. And when it does rain, it's the Virga rain that doesn't even get your jacket wet. It's weird to ride in the rain and never get wet. The higher portions of Colorado can get some thunderstorms, but the are usually only 1-2 big clouds that move by pretty quickly. Sit down, take a break and watch it pass. Waiting on a traffic accident to be cleared before the road opens - in rain as hard as it gets in the desert. Jacket isn't even wet....

  7. There's something to be said about a road like that, it does make you open your horizons and see farther than you usually do.

  11. You're only looking at the longer trip - DesmoDog and I are doing another ride that probably won't leave Colorado and will be much less mileage. We plan on staying at my house most nights and then at my wife's hotels across Colorado for free or largely discounted as we're both cheap fuckers. That would be the ride for you - still good riding but loads of time just checking stuff / towns out as well. Cool part about that ride is that you could decide to go a week before and it wouldn't really affect our plans at all. Plenty of room at our house for more; have 3 extra bedrooms that are all en suite, so you'd be good there. Keep it in mind.

  12. Again, no interstates on these rides. We'll go through the deserts rather than around them. Pic below is from Idaho, but the Nevada desert looks similar with fewer plants growing. It's 400+ miles of flat and straight but is still kinda cool to ride across.

  13. Yes but i do stupid things cant help myself i say I'm out for an hour and gone all day so she's used to that and its normal, Sunday i found myself picking my way across a peat bog moor at dust knowing there's a possibility i could get stuck the other end and when i do get back to safety its dark and i have to stop myself from doing more dodgy off road routes i ended up giving myself a row in my head saying go home on the road you daft bastard lol

  14. Yes it would be good to catch up. I'm taking a group out there this Saturday for the TRF, going to see how it goes not sure I'm going to like leading people about but I'm doing it more for myself, I'm thinking more and more about what could happen when I'm on my own off road but usually when I've returned from a ride. I've even started telling the wife where I'm going lol
