  1. Today was quite cold for Portuguese standards, but quite sunny so I was happy with it as long as I kept out of motorways. Had breakfast at Ericeira, before going for a ride around town and then heading to Cabo da Roca, then turned inland and went to via a great forrest road heading home, on @Sofia's recommendation. Then, remembered @Grasshopper's Ride likes windmills so stopped for a picture, it´s a little deceiving because I didn´t really ride the dirt, it´s just the end of the road I rode there to check out the view on my favourite hill. Heading back home I stopped for a coffee at my local Dainese shop and ordered a pair of winter pants. The coffee was quite welcome, most the ride was at around 6 to 8ºC. Getting back home, and the locked home is freezing, I've turned the heating on and AC on, and fired the fireplace, it's now making a dent on the cold. I was having anticipating this so stopped to buy vegetables to make some soup for the next couple of days. I think I have a few cool clips for a movie, will get into it. Ericeira: Cabo da Roca's lighthouse, Europe's westernmost point right here: Stop next to a proper windmill, at Montejunto: Spotted an H2 after having my coffee, it's not a pretty bike in a conventional way but I do like them.

  2. It'll look a disjointed mess Alan......that header needs to make a statement......that basically this place is the real deal. Obviously when people start reading the shit on here then their enthusiasm may drop off a bit......but at least we're not getting bounces (people getting here and immediately leaving). Google knocks you back if you get a lot of those.

  3. Looks like a lovely day. Thanks for the windmill pic, the view from there is awesome I bet. ? Looking forward to the video. I was looking at the Ninja (H2) recently as a fun second bike, but I think I need to know I can go on the gravel roads at any time, maybe not the stuff I take my Himi on, but more then the Ninja could handle.

  6. I'm lucky in that I decide when I have to go into work rather than work from home. When I get sad or bored of sitting at home at least I can ride to work, it's still riding my bike and I do have cross country routes if I want them. I have been only agreeing external meetings after checking the weather to see if I can get there and back without getting wet. Having said that, when I realise I can't just go out and ride where I want, it makes me want to do it more, like a big kid really.

  23. Well if there was you wouldn't being winning it Fred! Because it appears you're down in 6th place. https://www.adventuremotorcycles.net/forum/topmembers/ But if it's any consolation you do appear to be slightly ahead of @BusBoy in terms of quality contributions to this motorcycle forum However, it needs to be pointed out that while you have a stable of bikes to choose from.......Bruce only has a fucking boat!

  27. I'm going to remove that thing on the side......it's a bit sad isn't it? I know why I'm always at the top.......that twat @Sir Fallsalot keeps giving me votes for no reason whatsoever. Other than the fact that I didn't want to be in it anyway and he kept on at me till I added myself. So he knows it pisses me off! I could post up a photo of a turd I shat out and the stupid fucker would vote for it!

  28. This was my first road legal bike after passing my test at 18 years old. I bought it part built when i was 17 and finished it off just before i passed my test, i loved riding it about me and the wife spent a lot of time on it. A bigger motor would have been nice but i probably would have killed myself i was daft enough on this

  32. The one we call H2 on this side of the Atlantic is the supercharged one, I'd say it's way overpowered for any kind of non tarmac use, but then again there are crazies up for anything.

  38. After I saw this thread I had a look to see if it was available for free, but there was a monthly charge. My mate Charlie's 2nd CCM was an ex Dakar bike, one of the ones they made for privateers to enter on one year. It had a spare CDI bolted on for a quick swap if one went down and lots of extra power takes offs scattered about the wiring loom???? He was too tight to buy the extra large tank that could have come with it and we were always having to wait for him to fuel up. It also used to refuse to electric start and the cure was removing the seat (2 bolts) and tapping a small relay with something heavy. By the time he put the seat back it would have cut out and he would have to do it again, they did not like ticking over. I'd have lengthened the wires and had it outside the bike for 'donking' if it was my bike.

  39. I used to watch the Dakar in the mid 90s when I had cable tv and Eurosport. Always felt sorry for the poor sods starting on New Year's day or close to it. watching Stefaen Petehansal ride the big Yamaha through dunes was like watching a ballet, so smooth and planned compared to everybody else dug in or plummeting off sheer drops and cartwheeling. I was gutted when he switched to cars. I don't really have any interest in any motor sport unless people fall off or crash a lot, so it ticked all my boxes.
