To be honest it’s absolutely fine at 100klm plus but of course at slower speeds and through towns it’s unpleasant for long periods. However, I can overlook that because I’m very shallow and easily impressed ? I tell you something, the seat is so much better than the monstrosity on the Himalayan ?3 points

This is precisely why I bought the TL1000S over to Spain to give me an alternative biking experience to the Himalayan. There are times when all common sense needs to be ignored and you need to go with your heart. However, it’s not always plain sailing ?, it’s currently having its fueling sorted, the water pump completely overhauled, the front brake fixed and that’s before I start to sort out the compression on the rear! ............but it’s fucking mental to ride ???3 points

Oooh, not seen that one, I'll search it out. He's in a wheelchair if you see some of them, some sort of spinal problem. He speaks like many of the contractors I have worked with, he's quite close to the line where I start to miss some words when he speaks. I have a meeting on Thursday with a bloke from a developer called Brendan who I cannot understand at all. I try and take Jim my main contractor with me, his mother comes from the same part of Ireland as Brendan. At the end of the meeting Jim tells me what Brendan said if I am not sure, BUT even he has trouble understanding him. Our most famous contractor, Patsie, was never ever understood, even by other people from his own county in Ireland. He's close to retirement now, but about 10 years ago a posh lady who's house they worked outside said to the supervisor how nice the Bosnian man was who was doing the work. He has been known as Bosnian Patsie ever since.3 points

I often go internet window shopping for another bike, sometimes starting with a faster road bike better for motorways that I often ride on, or something just pretty, or something touring more offroad oriented like a T700 for a proper trip, but eventually I realize what makes "sense" is another GS to go with this one3 points

You want a nice sv650 they are superb all rounders, handle just as good as the Honda's and are super reliable to boot. My wife has one and loves it. I had to lower her's 2 inches though and she is only 5 feet tall. I also installed a handle bar conversion kit on it that brings them in 2 inches as well and she has ridden many 6 to 8 hour days on it with no problems3 points

We've all seen some stupid, clueless, pitiful shit on our visits to different forums over the years.....and this one always springs to mind for me: "Recommend me a Bike Valeter" Now I'm well aware that we have a very different demographic riding bikes to what we had in the 70's.....but a Bike Valeter? What sad, pitiful cunt would employ a Bike Valeter? If you have, then own the fuck up now........and you'll be getting a straightener via incoherent PM from @Clive Here's another one......"How do I put my Bike on it's Centre Stand?" That cunt @MooN could have been responsible for a few of those though! So......what pitiful threads have you seen?2 points

You gotta understand that Google will knock us back Pedro. We want no.1 for the search term "Adventure Motorcycles" not "Shit eating Iberian Beemer Boy".2 points

Trying not to hijack Michelle's thread anymore, @XTreme, about the 850: This is a current F850GS, wet weight is 229kg with 15 liters of fuel and 92Nm This is a 2017 R1200GS Rallye, wet weight is 244kg with 20 liters of fuel, and 125Nm A 2011 R1200GS, wet weight is 238kg with 23 liters of fuel and 120Nm, Looking at the weights and the torque, I fail to see the advancements. I know they're all twice the weight of a 60s Yamaha DT1, but still, I don't think the 850 is a better bike, obviously apart from price. The thing with a 850, or a T700, or whatever, is that although probably quite easier off tarmac, they just don't really do it for me. I love starting my bike in the morning, and the engine for just going along country roads. When I really feel like mine needs another one to ease on the wear I will be taking a look at a second bike, for now I don't think I will. The idea of something less precious to me that could be cruised down proper dirt roads with less emotional worries sure is appealing though.2 points

Yeah you can have one at the house and one in the car park, but fo us we have our daughter working in the office so when we moved here she sold her car and pinched the second car, I didn’t get any money from the sale of here car, looks like she is going to do the same with her triumph.???2 points

Does forcing my wife to clean my wheels count or is that just top delegation? ?2 points

Heavy and tall! As Mess said.....the SV650 would be perfect, same engine as the Strom, but 25kg lighter, lower seat height, and around 2K cheaper.2 points

Bet you didn't know this. Where do you think my user name came from?. He's a distant cousin of mine. My last name is the same except when my side of the family emigrated from Jersey the most likely drunk on screech customs plonk misspelled it and added another s. So it's been LeMessurier ever since we came to Newfoundland2 points

It's too heavy for you because your an old duffer, just remember Michelle is a spring chicken fit and healthy ready to take on the world not ready to leave it behind2 points

much as I hate to admit this but there is some sense in what Bucky says, the actual weight of the bike is not really the issue ( on a road bike) it's more the centre of gravity. I remember riding a mates pan european a while back and being shocked at how light it felt compared the the tralp despit it's numerous extra kilos, all about weight distribution and centre of gravity. Untill you drop it.1 point

The problem is that although it has a European Type Approval Number on the frame that same number doesn’t appear on the UK logbook and DVLA are not willing to issue a new logbook with it on. The ITV station here won’t accept it and carry out the relevant inspection until the logbook has the number on. Basically, the only way to do it is get an engineer’s report saying the bike is fine for import but that’s going to cost about 1,200 euros, plus all the Gestoria fees and the ITV inspection fee. It all adds up to more than the bike is worth! ?1 point

I think I’ll be keeping the Himalayan for a while longer now; it’s great around here on both tarmac and trail at a sedate pace and oh-so-cheap to run. Once the TL is running properly I’ll have a bit of fun with it but in the end it’s got to go back to the UK as I just can’t get it onto Spanish plates due to the DVLA being less than helpful.1 point

You didn't see many 465's about over here and the 490 i got was registered for the street so i could ride it anywhere i wanted straight from my door which is one of the things that attracted me to it. this is the only photo i have of it. I'd given it a hard life wish i'd looked after it more and kept it.1 point
