  1. After a day's riding under a rain storm and not much else to eat but some hot soup at lunch and fruit. This evening's dinner... An entree of spicy gorgonzola, some olives and some amazing cherry tomatoes, I missed the flavor of tomatoes in this area. The wine is a local grown Syrah, very much my favourite bottle of red for the price. For mains, I had some oven cooked sweet potatoes and onions, lightly seasoned with turmeric and heavy on the paprika, and a small steak, bloody rare on the inside.

  9. I've moved to the cam chain tensioner tonight. first job was to remove the cooling system thermostat and fill point relatively simple job which involved undoing some jubilee clips and then covering my garage carpets and socks in antifreeze ffs. after moping everything up and a clean pair of socks this is what i took off Removing that lot gave me better access to the rocker cover looks a bit scary in there i don't think I've done this to a twin cam engine before Didn't take long to get at the cam chain tensioner and only had to remove one of the camshafts. But you have to remove the two R clips and push the pins out to free it from the cam chain while over the cam chain tunnel what could possibly go wrong ? Got it out without dropping anything into the engine but still have to put them back in tomorrow From what I've read the bottom cylindrical part of the cam chain tensioner in the photo below is full of oil and stops the cam chain tensioner plunger from returning once the spring advances it, but when you drain the oil from the bike that part never gets drained and it gets a bit sticky usually around 50,000 miles. So the whole point of this exercise is to flush it out and refill with new oil because as far as i'm aware the oil has been there from when the bike was new which makes it 28 years old. Last photo with the cam out really not looking forward to putting this back together tomorrow might have to get the workshop manual out looks a bit complicated ?

  11. Here you go @Clive and @Swagman.......you've got fuck all else to do cos you're well past it. So here's a thread for you sad old fucks to pass the time by moaning about your Piles and your Gout. And just a point of order here! Clive mentioned that he paid a subscription on another forum and then everybody ignored him. Well there's no subscriptions on this site, so I'm sure you'll be pleased that people will now ignore you and it's not going to cost you fuck all. Now that's value for money I'd say! What you reckon @Tym?

  13. Got the engine back together tonight also adjusted some of the valve clearances which was quite time consuming without the proper tool for the job so just the rocker cover to go on and refill the cooling system tomorrow and then i'll find out if my efforts were worth it @Bruce the crows foot worked great for torquing up the cam sprocket bolts, would have had to remove the cam covers to do it with a socket

  22. Calm down......it's just a cheap clickbait title to get your attention for something important! Though we are, in fact, coming from behind. Because as you know we're much younger (10 months) than most other forums out there. So we can't match those sites in terms of numbers of members, or quantity of posts. In that respect we're the poor relation! But I've always felt that quality rather than quantity is the yardstick by which all forums should be judged. The thing is, on many forums there's people talking away about bikes, and many of them appear to have a lot of knowledge on the subject. They know everything, and they've done everything! But in reality......do they? I've met up with some in real life and they don't know shit and can't ride for shit! And I expect you have too. So how do you know if people are the real deal or just internet bullshitters? In my opinion it's Ride Reports! Cos you're seeing people actually doing what they're talking about! They've talked the talk......and now they're walking the walk. Which brings me to this place! Did you know that in the first 6 weeks of 2021 we've clocked up THIRTY Ride Reports! And those Ride Reports came from EIGHT different countries: US, UK, Spain, France, Canada, Portugal, Australia, and New Zealand. That is very impressive indeed......and it blitzes every other UK/EU based forum out there from what I can see. Well done everybody! And @Clive, @Swagman, @Richzx6r, @Mawsley, and @skyrider........I'm sure you'll be surprised to know that on another forum they haven't even managed one so far this year! Now what's the word I'm looking for? Truly......this place is Where the Big Boys Play!
