The time of year is here where I live, if you have a "burn pile", burn it. From land clearing, logging and such. Needs to be done before the Spring. Still makes the air smokey and rather unpleasant for dog walks. But regardless, the smoke in the trees with the sun was fun to photograph and a bit eerie.5 points

Lockdown is a conspiracy to make me buy stuff for the bike. I thought this would be a bigger job but in reality only took 30 minutes. the standard headlight looked like this. First job was to remove this and the backing cup. to get to this point, on some earlier models there is a section back there that needs cutting out, however this is not the case with mine. Then it was a simple job to bolt in the mounting basket for the new headlight. Then pop the new headlight in with the retaining ring. I did not connect the halo ring as I was not happy to use the existing spade connectors, I have some Molex waterproof two pin connectors which I will put on in a few days once I dig them out. I then fitted the existing bezel but it really needs a deeper one so I will be ordering that. I still need to adjust the aim but for now it looks good. Low beam. High beam.4 points

They definitely do look better dirty. I nearly sold mine once (big mistake I won’t repeat) got as far as leaving it at the dealers (they were selling it for me) woke bolt upright next morning... nooooo raced up and retrieved it. Took it straight to the Overlander festival where every bike is dirty (festival for people have done or are interested in RTW travel) it was so shiny, looked brand new all coated in some sort of silicone, even the exhaust had been returned to its original shiny colour. Folk kept looking at it and me sideways, felt like a fraud ?muchos embarrassing ?2 points

Great shot, I look back at some of the first days I had mine and the photos, and I think to myself, how have I managed to get my bike so dirty. You know the kind of dirt that never comes off. Which is ok, the Himalayan's look good dirty. ?2 points

More like too late, jacked it in a couple of years ago. Now only available for life and death stuff and then only if I like them otherwise I’m happy to leave ‘em croaking at the side of the road ?2 points

What is this ‘pillion seat’’ you speak of? It’s not something I’ve experienced. Is it the bit at the back I strap my tent and spare tyre to or in your case probably some biscuits and your weekly copy of Grazia?2 points

Lots of countries are like that though aren’t they. In some countries it’s seen as grotesque to have new cars, flashy and ostentatious. French folk also hold onto their cars. Having a crumbling car is no indication of wealth, I quite like that. There’s a lot of car snobbery about here, the Hyacinth Buckets are alive n kicking ?1 point

Honda always has great ideas, then they refine the shit out of the design - and the bike's character, power and coolness always suffers.1 point

There are screws on the inside that go into the bottom yoke so you have to drop the fork leg out to replace them.1 point

That’s cool and explains it, they have got the look of someone who has a good eye for the right angles and light. Great thread. Sadly not one I will be contributing a huge amount to cos my photography skills at the top of their game are mediocre ?1 point

Thanks ? I was a professional photographer for many years, along with my partner we had a photography lab and fine art studio for years. So it is something I love to do and can seem to manage with any camera, for the most part. It is a passion of mine for sure.1 point

Exactly! I've never hidden the fact that I'm a namby-pamby poser who doesn't know one end of a spanner from another.1 point

Oh yeh.....they did it on a 45bhp XT600 and a 50bhp Transalp. Not exactly hot stuff motorcycling but they still felt very iffy to me.1 point
