It is a dry snow, not heavy at all to shovel. But there is a shit ton of it to shovel. I've cleared my front porch 3 times today, each time had over a foot of snow on it. Drifts are really big and I have nowhere to through the snow. Tomorrow I have to try to get over to the local school and start shoveling there so that they can open on Tuesday (already called off Monday). That is going to be quite a bit of work. I'll try to post some pics from there.4 points

Had a great time early this morning at the local school as the snow crew (3 of us) tried to get through the drifts and into the school. I shoveled emergency exits all day, but the strong winds were filling it back in as fast as I could shovel it. So we cancelled school for the day. Gonna get back at it tomorrow morning and try to open by 8:00 AM. Great sunrise today!3 points

Your posts are good for the forum in general Bruce.....I've told you that before. If you get an audience who just looks at the board, never posts, and expects to be entertained it's the kiss of death. Not that I find your ass entertaining obviously.....I take the rough with the smooth so to speak.3 points

well I thought it was funny... a couple of other shots from 150km this afternoon dodging some nasty storm cells that were wandering around the area this was a biggie, mouving south east and starting to generate it's own wnd patterns in front of it, exactly where I was when I took this shot...ooops... and this was as close as I wanted to get. Don't get me wrong, these are not tropical storms and there's no rotation or other tornado like phenomena but they do generate locally storm force winds and dump huge amounts of water so you really don't want to be in one on a bike. Having stopped for the pic right in the path of it I then legged it, unfortunately home was also right in it's path and I got a bit wet in the last 5km as the leading edge caught up with me. I managed to get in the house about 5 minutes befre it really let loose and boy did it dump some water. For about 10 minutes, the water was standing about 2 inches deep in the yard and you couldn't see across the road. Short lived but intense is how I would describe it. I've just now ( hours later) been out to put the bin out and there's a lot of branches and stuff all over the road and a tree down a bit further along, so it looks like I did right to run away.2 points

Portugal just stopped it too, on hour ago or whatever time it was when I was starting my nice bottle of red wine. Which is a shame, because the current index of vaccine related problems / covid death rate with the same age population gives the vaccine use a huge advantage. I expect some other pharmaceutical company has just made a better lobby effort in some key european decision leading countries and now we're all following like sheep with no proper evidence to back our decisions. It's 90% politics(economic lobbying) / 10% healthcare2 points

I liked tham on the transalp, never noticed any untoward slipping, but did have a front one that had a fabrication defect. I gave up using them when it became impossible to buy any, then Michelin announced they were closing down a couple of plants with the loss of 5000 jobs in the same week they announced global profits of millions of euros... fuck 'em. tried others and I like these ok. and some dunlops trailmax I had on the tralp as well. Like I say, at MY skill level, I don't really think the tyres make much difference, I'm not exactly pushing their performance envelope...2 points

Some of my colleagues have found plague victims. The last batch was multiple hundreds of people at the Royal Mint site and all work had to stop whilst the archaeologists go and do their stuff. This is the first batch below, my colleagues found more in 2003ish https://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/collections/other-collection-databases-and-libraries/centre-human-bioarchaeology/osteological-database/medieval-cemeteries/east-smithfield-black-death-medieval2 points

They're out there, but most are '65 and later. I've got two of in my basement at the moment, sold a third one, but mine are common models (Monza and Monza Jr). Those in the picture are pretty rare models over here.2 points

I have to admit I've been suffering a bit recently with my knee and my back and not feeling to well but last Wednesday I bit the bullet and dragged the bike out for a run in the sun which did help me a forget about the aches and pains for bit LOL, So with the cafes partially open again and with the sun shining a ride was organised by the group I belong to we met up at a cafe just off the A31 near to Castella and then dissapeared into the Valencian countryside for a few hours and 310 kms. I got to admit the riding roads around this region of Spain are absolutely brilliant as a "norm" the A roads are fairly free from traffic and the country roads are almost empty. i apologise for the quality of the video in places as I am still trying to get my head around the settings on my newer Go-pro. I've had to re-position the camera onto the front of the bike as the previous position was on the from of my helmet and you could easily make out the speedo so i was advised to move it LOL.1 point

They refused to go to the doctors. Stumpery? Well it was just a label next to a lot of tree stumps all piled about higgledy piggledy, I think for what eventually grows on them, usually ferns and flowery things I reckon. Wikipedia says https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stumpery1 point

I've always been rather dyslexic Pete I try and read everything a couple of times and also hope that the spell checker picks up everything I have missed LOL1 point

Its so weird how you can live somewhere and pass something frequently without seeing it and then one day for no particular reason it catches your eye. What’s a stumpery?1 point

It was today, that is how it is usually. Last few months it was rammed though with lockdowners, but back to normal now. I found a whole new park today that I had never seen before, in my own town, walked past the small gate lots of times over the last 20 years and only noticed the small sign today for the first time. Walked through the little gate into a paradise of peace and quiet with some winos sitting under a thatch roof band stand in the centre, even they were chirpy and wished me a good afternoon. They have a......'stumpery'! I'll take a camera next time I'm out.1 point

24 cases of blood clots in total and 10’s of millions of doses given. Much more doses given than other vaccines cos its so much cheaper. If no-one has blood clots, heart attacks or dies etc it would be very abnormal in a sample that large because you’d except the faulty humans we are to carry on developing its normal faults, if you catch my drift. So at the moment (until new data shows otherwise) I’m happy to have whatever.1 point

What make did you get? Cos it appears most of Europe have suspended the use of Astra Zeneca due to blood clot deaths.1 point

Tym nailed it. Most of our washer fluid is good to about -20F (-29C), but you can buy stuff that is good much lower than that. I never skimp and buy the cheap stuff as it'll freeze quickly.1 point

For the first time in 5 years I had somebody out with me......my mate Tony the Tools on his 2012 BMW G650GS. And I took him to see the abandoned railway station and old iron bridge in Baul as he'd never been there before! This particular station is OK.....but I could do with more misery, devastation and ruins really. It was a round trip of 150kms! No Beemers blew up.....and Tony managed to avoid falling off the Iron Bridge, because I tipped him off where the broken bits were. Cos if he falls 200 feet to the ground and suffers death and dismemberment how the fuck am I going to get bits fitted on my bike?1 point
