  1. Camping weekend with the Northern Califronia crowd. Place is known as Songdog Ranch and it is about 1.5 hours north of me, at the end of Hwy 33.

  2. First day was full of adventure and amazing views of the Douro Valley away from the tourist. Beautiful nature and at the same time man made landscapes that look like gardens but are actually working farms of wine and olives. This is a little daily news video, later will come riding videos.

  7. I had to pick up some documents from our office for my training course this week so waited for the rush hour traffic to die down and took the bike, I left it a bit late and didn't leave until 8 ish. It was only a short run about 60 mile round trip. Took the A470 to Brecon to warm the bike up, this bike feels so smooth and quick after the smaller bikes it makes me smile every time i get on it. The A470 to Brecon was traffic free all the way so quite a spirited ride there and came back via Talybont on usk. I could see a fantastic sunset in my mirrors but nowhere to stop and take a photo had to settle for Talybont res Stopped at the highest point for this photo and noticed the moon was looking bright tonight bloody phone camera just not good enough to do it justice Further on at Pontsticill Reservoir i thought this would make a nice photo nowhere else clear of trees to get a clear shot At the dam end of the res this is the high level overflow and valve house looking back to where i came from And one last one of the moon before i crossed the dam and headed home. It wasn't too cold on the thermometer went down to 8c but the wind was bitter i'm glad i wore my heated jacket the ride home i was all toasty like

  12. The roads were barren, which was nice. But you didn't dare go too far off of the pavement as the bike would sink in the wet ground...

  14. Lol ? I guess that I wanted something a bit "adventure" and less "hooligan" than the Speedy. The CB500X seems to be fairly popular and at the price including 5 years warranty and breakdown cover it ticked most of the boxes. Like Xtreme, there's a good number of dirt tracks and fire break roads around, so something with a bit of mild offroad capability seems like a good idea. ?

  16. I still think that it won't sell. Not in Europe anyway, the aesthetics of that front end... and it's a Harley. there'a a huge portion of the riding world who would refuse to buy one however good it is on those two criteria alone. I'm not saying they're right, i'm just saying they exist. Add to this the lack of dealers and tech support outside of the US and you have another reason to not want one. Like it or not, these are all real factors in motorcycle choice. However, they have called it the "Pan America" which situates its target demographic pretty clearly in the US, which is where they already have a serious market, the dealer network is more developed and being a domestic product is a sales argument rather than the contraire. So far I have only read reports from professional riders or journalists, mostly from manufacturer organised test days. The real information will come when Joe public gets his grubby hands on it and starts dropping it and using all the wrong settings, and generally abusing it. I've already seen on various "adventure" sites, the nay sayers who ask "what happens when it breaks down half way across africa" " how you going to service the variable valve timing at the roadside in a guatemalan monsoon" .... "Pan America" if they have designed it for that purpose then I imagine it fits pretty much it's design brief.

  25. I can't believe I got out to ride twice in April this year. It's usually too cold and crappy out to ride this early. The roads were void of snow and ice but were covered in grit and other crap...

  26. I had a bunch of things I wanted to test out today. I had repositioned the handle bars on the Honda, along with some new tank grips and a new tank bag to try out. I also set my 360 camera in a new spot and mounted a camera on my partners bike to capture the view from behind. It was raining when we set out, but a warm spring morning with the smell of fresh pollen in the air. Always nicer to pass the logging truck on the highway, compared to the tight forest roads. But they still freak me out..... Went through a little road work. Always a smile for the workers! Then the afternoon was so nice I had to take Bagheera out, to make sure his new battery worked of course. What a day, hey, maybe there is time for another ride.....

  27. Stopped by the local HD shop today to see if they had the Adventure bike in yet (they don't). But Sweet Baby Jesus, what a selection of tee shirts! Freakin' thousands. Wonder why other shops don't put out tons of cool shirts with the shop name and city on them? I bet they sell 45 of these a day. @Buckster - PM me your shirt size and address and I'll post one to you. Makes me wish I had a HD so I could wear some of their shirts without looking like a wannabe....

You’re going to have to wait until no-one can fathom what just happened and then suddenly request all your posts are removed ?

  32. I went in 2019 and had a f’in amazing time. I’m not a festival person but the sun was shining on full blast the whole weekend, there were bikes galore, good trade stands, plenty of talks from people who actually walk the walk, lots of different bikes to test ride, an off road track on the premises, TRF ride outs, an adventure film festival hall showing good bike adventure films, tons of excellent food wagons, good live music n plenty of beer flowing and everyone seemed really bloody happy all the time, Ive never seen so many smiles with folk chatting freely to complete strangers. I’ll rephrase that last bit, Ive never seen so many legal chatty smiles before ? TBH it was like a parallel universe where everyone’s happy and I dont see how it can ever be that good again. But this year nearly every well known adventure/round the world rider seems to be going as are a large group of the women I went to the Himalaya with (and they’re chomping at the bit to get out) so who knows what with lockdown fever it might just be the best party ever... or it could rain incessantly and be a huge letdown, we’ll see ?
