The dog was feeling a bit rough so after a few internal organ replacements it was ready to ride cover your eyes if your squeamish this is open heart surgery. The day started with the rebuild After a little work she lives A few hours later and i'm on the road but thinking i better not stray too far after the rebuild so up to my local byway . It was pointed out to me the shadow looks like a reindeer lol And then onto my mountain After a check for oil leaks it was onto check out a lane that was illegally closed but overturned by the TRF Then some of my favorite tarmac to sennybridge for fuel This is the end of the roman road out of Trecastle only took the photo because it doubled up as a piss stop Then onto the Crychan forest which has been graded and has made it easy enough to drive your car through now Then it was the ride home trying to keep it under 55. past the Llwyn Onn reservoir it was like a mirror these are photos of it up the right way and upside down you tell me which is which On the A470 i had to suffer the humiliation of a scooter rider burning me off because i was bedding things in the fucking wanker had the cheek to wave to me Bike ran beautifully restored my love for it again7 points

I once had a letter from a man objecting to me converting 3 zebra crossings on the same road into Pelican crossings (1995ish). His argument was that I had taken his rights as a pedestrian away because where as once he could step out on the crossing and the vehicles should legally stop, now he had to press a button and wait till the red light stopped them. He demanded that we rig them so that they remained on a red signal/green man normally and any driver wishing to pass would have to wind down their window and press a button and wait to get a green light/red man before proceeding. I laughed back then, but it seems he was years ahead of his time. https://metro.co.uk/2021/05/27/london-pedestrian-crossings-to-have-green-man-unless-car-approaches-14661654/5 points

I’m guessing if it is what it looks like it has never been off-road in anger, front wheel is too small, looks like someone bought it hoping to become an off-road god but soon realised that they were being a cunt.2 points

It's still a road (not race) engine, and a Honda, so even if it's been through hell it's probably good, having said that, if you're not going to use the wheels why buy it? I would go for a pampered one instead, if it was my money. The thought of it having been abused would always be on my mind, that is supposing you would keep it for a long time. Having talked to a few people with pillion experience in a few bikes, there is no comfort for a pillion like a BMW rear suspension and seat (more so on bad roads), be it a GS or an RT.2 points

If it was owned previously by Lee Salt then it will have done a few Desert Rallies and have spent most of it's life being bounced off the rev limiter. Have a look at the some of the prices Colwyn Bay ask for some of their other bikes. There are loads of CRF1000/1100 's about, personally I would never buy a bike from them.2 points

The storm we had today gave us 3 inches in 4 hours, should be a good one in a few days when it hits your side of the pond.2 points

Thanks @Pedro The lake is one of a series of reservoirs that feed the valleys with drinking water i think i get my water from there, as for the dog i had the cylinder honed and a new set of rings even though it was all new 22000 miles ago, i was so close to it i would have regretted it if i didn't do it, the essential work was the 2 new cam chain guides and new cam chain all Honda parts. Total cost for parts was £358 about £100 of that was gaskets. Doing it myself saved me about 2 days of labour which would be about a £1000. if i had to pay someone to do it i would probably have parted out the bike as i only bought it for £800 about 12 years ago2 points

We're weird; we wear the same clothing no matter what while riding. Todd was the only one to wear some long underwear. I wear just a tee shirt under my jacket regardless of the weather. Brought along one pair of shorts and one pair of pants, 4 tee shirts and thats about it. Same with Dave. Although his wife brought a little more clothing. Will have to do a laundry day someplace along the trip after day 4.1 point

Well, in fairness it probably has increased in value over your ownership? Do you feel it’s stronger now?1 point
