The roads are jammed here, no fun riding with all the neck twisters out, apparently there is a big jam heading towards the NC500 with loads of vehicles being held up by a bunch of twats on hairdryers.

Right, I knew someone would ask this. Previous owner has stuck all sorts of stickers on and later died. Wife of said owner was trying to tell us it was something special. Brooklands was mentioned but that's crap. It's had all sorts of changes in its life but I believe the log book says, 3.0, No S which makes sense as it's an Ghia automatic. Wife said it's now got a Granada engine which is a disappointment but I'm sure it's just a difference in camshaft. I've been told of lots of stories of bigger valved heads but talking to engine builders it's bull. Time will tell as "Simon the owner" will now research this big time. If you have info Bob it would be appreciated?

Sorry, I'll get some pics next time round. We freed the rear brake by taking off the rear drum, the other side someone had been there before and removed the shoes? Then we could push it outside the garage. Got it back to his home and within 1/2 hour we had it running. Not for too long as I wasn't sure the water was fully circulating but long enough to dump the old oil. Took some of the hoses off and there's plenty of crap in there so stripped off loads of other hoses so we can flush it out later. Both front calipers sized but with new cylinders on the rear we've now got some braking. Gaggin to take it down the road. Automatic gearbox engaged drive and reverse too. Had to leave to get my second jab and left him to give it a good scrub. O and yes, very lucky for the price he gave. It's a German made one and other than a couple of small places in bloody good condition bar the accident damage.

Off to help a friend collect a 1980 3ltr capri in a bit. Gonna talk him into firing it up if we can, only been standing 30 years after a very small accident. Jab part 2 at 4pm then watch the F1 qually with a beer or 3.

For dealing with stuff over the phone, if you have someone you trust just ask them to say they're you and deal with it. It doesn't need a lot of work, just a male voice over the phone.

And this is not a feeling sorry for myself statement, but being deaf is very isolating, can't hear music, visit in laws, can't join in the conversations, television is off more than it is on, some channels have subtitles, but alot dont. Mobile phone is only usefull for internet and text messages. If I have to go somewhere, hospital (they can call my name all day, I won't hear them) shopping and the garage to have car repaired wife has to be there too. We had a hell of a time getting the car and bike insurances to talk to my wife instead of me, and official departments like the tax office are adamant they want to talk to me only, sorry cannot talk to your wife, data protection and all that shit. I have one sort of riding buddy, he is very useful at cafes and eateries, otherwise I am stuffed. It would be easy to withdraw altogether, but I try not too.. Anyway guys remember "loud exhausts save lives" maybe mine. Louder the better, so I know you there

I do miss music I can hear a noise when I turn radio up to nearly full....but it's just a distorted sound....sink don't bother. But wife is becoming a expert on noises on the car telling me about squeaks and rattles......just need her to get competent with spanners.

That scares me big time. I learned my lesson when riding back from when I met Pete in Spain, got home and had a shower, sat down after and I could still hear the helmet noise ... I didn’t like that and it lasted for a couple of hours

I am slowly loosing it But if I had worked past my retirement age, which I could have done, i would have to had to finish when I lost my hearing....took my lorry licence off of me. So I try to fill my time as best as I can.

Get the strange feeling we may have crossed paths last Saturday. Four of us were in Mariposa, on Hwy 49, just outside Yosemite. Saturday we rode Sonora Pass - west to east. If you were there on Saturday, i'm sure we passed each other. If not, then it was probably one of several hundred other bikes out there Sonora Pass has new asphalt and was great. We came back from Mono Lake (the one in your pic) over Tioga Pass and back thru Yosemite.

I’ve tried and bought a set of custom plugs, but they were shit. I use foam ones that are pretty good for a few uses before getting replaced, I’m ok with that as they are really cheap. Won’t ride any less though, touring keeps me sane.

Back garden is quite a size, and having to weed the borders takes time. I had to clear the (next door neighbours) cat shite 1st.. All done now, for a while..........I have gardening.

Tomorrow I am going to try and strip the rear shocks, adjustment collars are seized solid, Lathered them with WD40, but still seized Alloy and steel don't seem to get along very well.

Thats my sort of comment ya nob. Just old age. I don't under stand the old folk that want to shove on all sort of pin stripes and stickers, and then lacquer over the top. Messed up some good paint work, although it'll have a respray later. Simon thinks like me, get it on the road and better it along the way. It's a real good starting point for it's age. I suspect a slight head gasket prob but not worried as I'll be assisting him doing a full rebuild along the way.

No, the 2.8i came out in 1982. Lots of 'discussion' amongst Capri owners/fans about which is best. I'd go for the 3.0 Essex engine myself.

Young lad I know has had a couple of 250s, Honda engines. Both been good bikes.

A few years ago I had to go and look at something in a road called St Leonard's Road. It's a road I always confuse with St Leonard's Street which is not far away, but separated physically by the building of the Blackwall Tunnel Approach in the 1960s. As I was riding along it I went past a statue that made me hit my brakes and spin round and take another gander. The artist who created it clearly didn't think it through. It's innocent looking from all other angles.

It's mine a week tomorrow i have been told

14 of June will be glorious it’s my wedding anniversary.

This is not me, but it is pretty much my journey to work (pre covid) at least once a week and the main reason I ride a bike to work if at all possible. Having said pre-covid, I did go through a 5 mile queue last week, traffic nearly back to normal and I had to go in at normal commuting hour to meet some white liners. Reason for a 10 mile queue (or longer) on my motorway part of the trip is usually:- Someone driving like a prat coming a cropper and crashing, a loose horse or cow running about on a motorway, or an HGV tipping over at it makes the turn north from the M25 onto the M11. The last thing happens so often I can't believe they don't reprofile the cross fall.
