Wanted to have a couple of hours out today to check out two lanes out Llandegfedd way but it turned into an afternoon of trail riding and extreme exercise. The weather conditions and the ground after the rain last night were perfect for trail riding not too hot and loads of grip with no dust. No planned route just followed my nose taking in a few lanes on route there and back didn't take many photos on route This one is heading up to Twmbarlwm mountain stopped to open a gate a bit tricky starting off again on the loose ground This is the view in the opposite direction if it wasn't so murky you could see the Severn bridge from here i did give Bob a wave as he's in that direction Almost On the top This was the first lane i wanted to check out as i hadn't done it before, Its only a short one The thought i hadn't done it before disappeared here as i remembered this drop i had been on a ride not too long ago when we rode this but was following not leading so you don't know where your are or where you've been as a follower This was the other lane i wanted to check out i have done it before but couldn't remember it so wanted to do it again. its all up hill in this direction Just inside the gate was this sign for the ones not in the UK that means max speed of 60mph for us, i later discovered you needed to be doing 60 to get up here On the other side it had a 30mph sign to tell you to slow down as you enter the farmyard The track was a little washed out At this point i discovered a kickstart only bike was not a good idea in this lane i stalled it here and guess which side the kickstart is on. Ended up having to drag the bike to here so i could get a swing on the kickstart. Had to let the bike cool because it was suffering a bit which also gave me a chance to cool down i also trimmed some of the nettles and brambles to make it easier next time and then realised there wont be a next time dopey bastard I thought that was the last of the tough bits but there was more to come the slab rock was incredibly slippery and cambered to the right which is where the rear wheel went every time i touched the throttle, turning around wasn't an option as it was far too narrow and i'm too bloody stubborn so it was tough it out it was also overgrown When i eventually got out i had to adjust the clutch cable as i'd lost all the free play on it, never had to do that before. Another welcomed rest here waiting for these girls to exit the milking shed on their way back to the field I decided to head home from here as i was fooked took the road past Llandegfedd reservoir the water level looks low I did do a few lanes on the way back they were also overgrown reminding me why i normally ride this area in the winter time5 points

I gave it a try today, you certainly know when you haven’t ridden for a while, did about 45 miles, back was ok but then when I came to a junction I got frigging cramps in my thigh twice, need to get out on it more and loosen up the muscles.4 points

Definitely in for rises but its the hospitalisation and death rate they have their eye on and whatever happens this summer is nothing compared to what’s going to happen a few weeks after the schools go back and the weather becomes inclement Fingers crossed nothing truly vaccine resistant has turned up by then. I have my suspicions everyone will have moved onto the “just get your booster and live with it” school of thought by then, the economy will certainly be asking for that and the psychopaths in charge here were thinking that right from the start.3 points

Will give that a go. I think it's coming from the cam cover, but the cam chain tensioner is on the top of the engine, but cannot see up there without literally taking the scoot to bits. Will give the talc a try.....will Johnson Baby powder be best?....Or will Asda home brand be ok?.3 points

This popped up on YouTube......and it's unbelievable! Down to -71C in Siberia! People leaving their cars running permanently......cos it'll freeze solid after 20 minutes of inactivity. Break down in it outside the city and unless you can fix it on the spot you're likely to die! Cameras and phones not operating properly.....cos they're getting frozen.2 points

Yeah batteries are strange' i took my old Africa twin for an MOT years ago, rode up there and back no problem went in my house to sort myself out for a ride and when i turned the key half hour later the bike was dead not a light on the dash a new battery later and it was fine2 points

Still appears to be that it was a bad battery that got cooked in a heatwave, as strange as that sounds. A nice new quality battery seems to have fixed it......."seems" being the key word....lol2 points

I've exhausted the usual local lanes here now so started turning to the stuff i haven't done for years to get my fix, done a lot of illegal stuff today because I've done the legal stuff far too often and there's sooo much road work if you stick to the legal stuff it was good to get on some of the old routes.2 points

Excellent Fred, some cracking lanes around there. I don’t ride them enough but having seen your photos I can remember why2 points

No they cant, its undoable for most folk. I can and do mostly work from home so it’s a possibility but in all honesty I have now reached a stage of frustration with having my plans on hold for so long that its at the point of the risk being worth it. Just a teeny weeny taste of borderless freedom, a ridiculous illusion I know but I want it all the same!2 points

There is no problem getting into France. It’s when you return. Not everyone can afford to add 10 days to their holiday entitlement. I certainly can’t. Nor could most of the guys coming with me this year. It would have been doable if we were allowed to transit, bit of a slog but we could’ve headed directly to the Black Forest. But even a non-stop transit means quarantine.2 points

Four people ended up in hospital or injured from that event. I was ambulanced in to hospital for a stroke before I had even had a chance to hand out the rally tickets so never left Essex at all. My parents were given a list of addresses from my hospital bed and ran around town distributing them. I was the least injured out of the four by the end of the weekend! Jackie made it to the rally, then had a crash on the associated trail riding and broke a rib or two, spending all night in a welsh hospital. She was very upset at having her bra cut off she said afterwards. Strange Dave's brother Tony had a head on crash with another trail bike at speed on the same trail riding event, possibly by a Welsh nationalist making a point. This was captured on film and made me wince with the crunchiness of it all. He had bruises all over and a wrecked DR350. He was very upset about Jackie having her bra cut off as well. Martin rode his DR250 up a hill on the same trail riding event and had a tumble which did something to one of his knees and he was off work for a week afterwards. He wasn't that bothered about Jackie's bra, he's a bit self centred.2 points

That sadly that is inevitable, its just a question of time. As I explained to my mother on the phone today who is reluctant to celebrate her 70th birthday tomorrow this is as safe as its going to be for a while, the more time that passes the further away from the original strain the variations get and the more risky things become until a tweaked vaccine is administered so she may as well enjoy this bit of freedom while its here because a coronavirus wearing a different crown our immune systems doesnt recognise is in the post. Everyone also overlooks that children and schools are breeding grounds for all virus’ and no children are vaccinated so the virus has free access to these mixing vials…2 points

Its a bit of a farce, you cannot enter France for any reason (aside from the usual exemptions like truckers) Last year the rules were different and allowed me to go down to Italy, I could enter France as long as I didn't 'stop' there.. stop 'overnight'. Had to pass through, which was fine. Rules for Belgium were the same, no stopping. Austria the same. So.. the only places I could stop overnight were Germany, Italy and Liechtenstein. This is the primary reason we have been forced to cancel our yearly trip. As of now the only place you can go is Spain, so long as you use the Santander/Bilbao ferry.2 points

I once couldn’t walk for three days due to a very heavy handed epidural. I couldn’t understand on day two (when the opiates were really not suppressing the appetite any longer) why I was just so bloody hungry and why there was no food. Eventually very starved I dared ring the bedside bell to be told food is served down there… when couldn’t friggin walk! They then transferred my care back to a much maligned hospital that treated me so nicely, kindness and food and dignity. Never forgot the difference hospitality makes to recovery. You can work with the finest minds and the best medical people and compromise a persons recovery with the basic silly things.1 point

I got one like that. 60€. if the wheel isn't quite straight on it by the time youve turned it a full rotation it's moved off to one side and won't roll anymore. it's also pants on anything but a flat and clean surface. I can't be arsed with it anymore, I just put an old car jack under the footpeg bracket on the other side to the stand and jack the rear tyre off the flloor half an inch, can spin the wheel much easier then.1 point

No longer exists. The people of the village got so tired of visitors ridicule and bad jokes and of the sign being stolen they at first replaced it with a plastic one, and then in the end changed the name of the village. to Fugging. This happened at new year. https://tinyurl.com/yzvxr4e41 point

So, on a hospital, you get crackers, cheese, butter, bread and a burger? Shot of vodka too?1 point

we were SOOOOOO lucky with our childminder, 100metres from the pharmacie where Madame MooN works and i still remember that when Madame was helicoptered of the roof of Auxerre hospital to Dijon menacing seriously premature birth of twins (14yrs ago) I rang her to see if she could pick up No.1 daughter from school ( No.1 being 5 at the time) she told me to go home, pick up a bag of clothes for No.1 and drop them off with her on my way to dijon...No.1 stayed with her for 3 days and nights, to and from school and everything, bloody brilliant and she then took on the twins when they were 3.1 point
