  3. We were younger and fitter......apart from the weight, the CBR was a fast, comfy old bus......it was still on the road a couple of years ago.

  4. I reckon I was on my second Suzuki Hayabusa 17 years ago. Awesome bit of kit and I’d have another in a heartbeat This is me on a track day at Donnington Park, surrounded by proper track bikes and I didn’t give a shit………my grin was wider than the Atlantic Ocean. ‘Kin ‘ell, that was faaaaaaast

  5. Of course I loved riding pillion as a kid. I think I was on a bike before I could walk....lol But in the 25 years I have been riding, I have only rode pillion once for a period of time, when we were commuting from the city to the Coast during the winter over big freeways and onto ferries. The conditions were bad and it was better for us to be on one bike. I would hit cars and keep them back while we rode through the city. The night rides were dark, wet and cold, so it was nice to share the body heat. It was a bit crazy, but we managed, we were young! That was about 20 years ago now, since then I have not been a pillion. I prefer to control my own ride.

  6. There was a K1200 for sale. in Scotland, it ticked every box. Handily for me, the seller was just a couple of miles from Edinburgh Airport. Before calling him I checked and found that I could fly there from East Midlands for £45!! and could be there by 10am. I also enquired about adding it to my insurance its and so forth. Once everything was in place and I knew all the ins and outs.. I called him and when he asked me where I was, I told him and he immediately called me a time waster and hung up!! I didn't call him back.

  8. I've probably had 15 or so bikes since then but all of them have been trail bikes (big or small). This was one of my favourite bikes in that period ...........

  9. Back seats are for birds! There were times years ago that I had to give a lift to a mate but I fucking hated it. I used to tell them......sit right back, keep your feet on the pegs, and don't fucking touch me. With a bird it was sit forward, and hold onto me if you need to. If they weren't up close and holding on then it required some sharp braking so they'd rub their tits in your back! Simple pleasures back then!

  12. She'll never get ride of the Bonnie, but a smaller bike may get her rolling again. TBH, we went to Narbonne the other week with her driving the car, and, well, she got me put on the insurance so I could drive it! I'm not a good passenger at the best of times, but we had "words"!

  13. I don't get out on the bike at weekends at the moment, my OH has lost her biking mojo at the moment. Plus it's a bit warm to get out, unless we go out early, but weekend mornings are for drinking coffee and eating bacon rolls, so that rules out early starts!

  14. The mid August day was cooler, as the hot summer days seemed to have passed. A light rain the evening before had made the gravel roads a bit less dusty and the forest brightened up with a fresh green. My Himalayan was running just right, a happy single just thumping away. With all that and some quiet roads through the forest, you have a wonderful August excursion. A short stop at the lake doesn't hurt either, to make the ride there that much sweeter.

  15. It was funny, as I was riding along I was thinking, WOW, the bike is running so nicely and everything is good. Then I SNAPPED out of it and removed the happy thoughts from my head until I was back at home, then I was allowed to say, GREAT RIDE!

  19. Yep, there's no point in setting a deadline when it can always move a month or two either way, it only has the potential to frustrate you if that happens to be longer.

  20. I'm really, really hoping it'll be 4 months as the scar is behind my knee and not on the stump where there's more pressure when walking, I'll know more when I go to see the consultant but that's not until 29th September, so lots of potentail for boredom until then

  21. I'm up early today at 4:30 AM and it's snowing! Ground still too warm for it to stick though, (it's 36F / 2C) . Wish it was light enough to get a picture for you guys. Radar shows the snow right over our house...

  22. Everything on it except the front fender tip is American, the forks are Japanese and the clutch and brakes are Italian, brake discs are British. I understand that from 2010 they started using smaller Chrome parts from China and now most of the Chrome other than engine casings are Chinese made.

  24. Picked up the new toy today, had an hour out after prepping it for tomorrows ride. Its a Beta 300 X Trainer Jury is out for the moment its certainly more agile and easier to ride on the dirt than anything else i have but the gearing is stupidly low, first and second gears are useless for the kind of riding i do at the moment and the front suspension is going to need some work to get it right for me. The seat height is low and i can flat foot both feet when sat on it which is going to be a great help in the technical stuff the XR is a sky scraper in comparison to it. Lets see how a proper ride tomorrow goes

  33. Its funny how bikes can get your mood up and down after all it is just an object unless your @XTreme who discards them every time the brake pads wear out been feeling down since the the 650 threw a wobbler then sold the CB, so i bought something this week which will hopefully pick me back up

  34. I am one happy Grasshopper! I had a fantastic ride on my Himalayan today, the first in awhile. The weather was great, the roads were quiet and the bike was running super smooth. I might even put together a small ride report tomorrow.... Then later in the day, I just HAD to go out for something, so I took a spin on the Honda. Life was good today! Have a great weekend everyone!
