After my slightly disastrous trip to the UK and back a few weeks back I was seriously considering getting rid of the bike in fact I wasn't ever going to leave the house again. But my wife insisted that I go our for a ride so how could I refuse? We have had some serious weather going on here one day we get brilliant sunshine then the next torrential rain then sunny again. Luckily I picked a decent day for wee bimble with some of the guys around the mountains and ended up by the beach...and.... nothing went wrong!!!!!7 points

Oh, and true story, the lady intern doctor that brought me back from the brinks of death was really cute. I know that because a few guys I didn't know went in to visit me and I still have flashbacks of her slapping me awake to this day sometimes....5 points

I saw Blasted Mechanism, you wouldn't know about it. Thing is, it was in the dark period, I was drugged up and very much wasted on vodka and I didn't remember it. Except, Blasted Mechanism is a kind of steam alien punk thing with tentacles coming out their heads, like freeking squid on stage! I had flashback nightmares for ages, waking up trying to figure out why there were octopuses dancing around in foggy weather in my bad dreams! That was a shitty night of which people told me about for a year after. That was the last time I got properly drunk...5 points

The oldest motorcycling related thing that I own and still use is my bungee cord, I always carry it under the seat after buying it in 2006, here it is holding a water bottle in Morocco in 2014 and a wine box in the Alentejo just a few weeks ago What's the oldest thing motorcycle related that you use?4 points

Riding the Dominator today and while going through a couple of lanes I thought about the old xl600lmf I had. The engine was a bit tame for a 600, really under powered although it would get up to speed after a while and id would plod though anything. But the plush seat, soft suspension and the bike fitted me better got me thing about stuffing a dominator engine in it.4 points

I saw Kiss when they did a tour without all the makeup and gear, which was pretty forgettable! Cheap Trick were good. They were my late Brother-in-law's favourite band back then. The Flame had just hit the top of the charts when we saw them. Saw Bon Jovi at Wembley arena too, that was my ex's choice.3 points

TBH a new battery is probably a worthwhile investment. Running with a slightly dodgy battery could fry the stator and reg/rec and Hondas are a bit prone to that!3 points

I've got a large, flat blade screwdriver that I bought when I was replacing the front disc pads on my RD350 (1976). I was using it to push the pistons on the caliper back in!3 points

My R1150GS, the balance of that bike was great, good suspension for two up touring I thought, great confidence inspiring brakes, nice engine that would have loads of torque at 2500rpm, but the gearbox was shit and took a lot from the bike after a long day on the saddle. I would like that bike with a nicer gearbox, from my current 1200 for example. Then again, I prefer the 1200 in almost everything. I would prefer the 1200 to have a longer sixth speed like the 1150 had. And a smoother engine on the motorway, probably sorted by the longer sixth, no need for more power or anything like that.3 points

Here there's little tolerance for speeding, 5% from what I've seen. The fine and points depend largely on the speed limit and how much over the limit. From what I can find so far is that, if the limit is greater than 50kph, then anything less than 20kph over the limit would be €68 fine and 1 point deducted. If it's only 1 point, then it's reinstated after 6 months unless you commit another offence in that time. So, just a waiting game now! I'm fairly certain that I wasn't more than 20kph over the limit.3 points

From my experience it ran quite hot. The fan would turn on and off all the time at speeds less than 40mph in the summer and that's an English summer, so at 30C+ over here I think that it would be on all the time. Otherwise it would be quite suited to the roads here, however, I think that my license wouldn't last as long!3 points

Generally I'll use Google Maps to find abandoned locations, and then switch to Google Earth to get a better idea of what's there. Because where I go there's no street views. Today I located an abandoned country house, but on checking Google Maps there appeared to be something behind it. No idea what exactly because it was too blurred to be able to see. So off I went to reach the country house.......and then investigate what was behind it! It could have been anything......midget sodomites, machete-wielding psychopaths.......or even worse, dumb fucking Brits! The house was completely sealed with no way to get access......and it was one of those creepy ones where the shutters move now and again because there are birds inside. At the side of the house there was an old cave which had been dug into the hillside. I followed the path and got behind the house itself! The pathway continued on.......which presumably led to whatever it was that showed up on Google Earth. It was a step into the unknown......but being the rugged individualist I am It didn't faze me one bit! Shit.....I don't even own a van! What I discovered was very surprising......a network of abandoned caves in ruins because the hill they were built into appeared to have collapsed in places. When you find something where the upper structure has collapsed and the flooring is subsiding in places, it's a dangerous environment! But I'm a thrill seeker and that's how I get a buzz......so in I went! At this point I was now inside the hill itself! This was where I was inside......and going through the hill itself. I emerged from the other side of the hill..... ......and then followed a hidden path.... .......that led me around the other side of the house! So I survived! You casuals can now get back to your fucking vans, gardening jobs, and domestic duties.......I've got everything under control!2 points

Immediate thought is my Kawasaki 500 H1 in 1975......crazy motor but nothing else. Brakes? Handling? No need for that shit.....just point the fucking thing and hope for the best! Also any Suzuki I've had......strong engines but the rest of it tends to be cheap and nasty with tacky plastics, sloppy wiring, and bad welds! Accompanied by rust! Lots of it! The Brits I had in the early 70's were shit motors, but the rest of the bike was shit as well! They got the balance right for sure!2 points

No, but seeking out a more credible source of the story helps immensely. There was a "newspaper " in the UK that once ran a story about a WWII bomber had been found on the moon. Just because it's reported in print doesn't always mean that the story is true. And, quite honestly, Murdoch has his own agenda, which revolves around what Murdoch wants! Editorial impartiality is not evident in any of his rags or TV channels. I tend to ask "what is his agenda" before accepting anything his media empire reports.2 points

There is no doubt in my mind that you are a very brave man. You can clearly see that the bumming dago midgets had just gone for their lunch, you can see that they've left their musical instrument behind and had recently been chopping up firewood. You might have been bummed to musical accompaniment and then burned at the stake2 points
