  2. A ride drive report by Billy-bob from Bristol . So I needed to get out today before I started going dolally . A mate of mine had been to a place near Pontypool last week on his way up to North Wales and it looked like it was worth a visit. Over the bridge again, doesn't the weather look inviting Now, who do we know on here who might live in a place like this Anyway, the place is called the 'Baffle Haus' , it's on the A4042 north of Pontypool and it's a great place to visit............. They have some really cool bikes and cars there and the owner is friendly and inviting. You can't get a full breakfast but they do have pies, sausage rolls and some nice cake, the coffee is good as well. I'm looking forward to going back on my bike..............

  6. I haven't been there myself yet Bob but have heard about it, doesn't look like the type of place they would enjoy someone covered in mud dripping everywhere though

  11. It seemed like a good idea at the time - ride to Moab, UT as the temps wouldnt be in the 100s (38C) anymore. And, they werent. However, they were in the 30s (1C), tho. (you're welcome for the conversions to that weird system). Normally, these GS riders would be found at Starbucks, but the closest one was drive-thru only. So, Panera Bread it was: This bastard didnt tell us he was bringing heated gear and Hippo Hands!. Then, again, he does wash his GS after use. The real riders only layered up against the temps. (still under 40F at this time) The original plans were to spend the first night a friends second home in Duck Creek, UT, but the snow changed that plan. So we rode out to Page, AZ instead, at the bottom of Lake Powell. The lake was formed by damming the Colorado River. Being that the southwest portion of the country is mostly arid, most of the lakes are manmade. Powell is a large one!

  17. Bleach on metal is ok as long as it's not left on too long and is well washed off. Harpic black bog cleaner works wonders on really grubby headers.

  20. I was usually out of it at these kind of gigs. Saw Joe Bonamasa here on my sixtieth. Back in the mists of time saw Groundhogs, Edgar Broughton, James Brown, Barclay James Harvest, Stone the Crows, Deep Purple - I think, Black Sabbath, Horselips, and most of the Cardiff bands. I've seen Walter Trout three times or was it four? Saw bob Marley play in Auckland not long before he died. Secondary smoking was interesting. Roger Waters Dark Side of the Moon tour at Sao Paulo. Youssou N'Dour in Dakar. There must be loads of others that I can't remember.

  26. I've never really been into concerts and really dislike crowds so have seen very little live music. I remember seeing The Boomtown rats at a theatre in London. They were playing in the interval in some show that my gran had taken us to see, i was far too young, about 8 or 9 I guess. I remember the song though, cos it was "I don't like Mondays" though I didn't recognise it till years later. I've seen various smaller bands at open air do's in my misspent youf, I think I saw Blodwyn Pig but don't remember it, Phil collins with Phl bailey, Stryper, The Pogues ( in a pub in southampton) and Bob Dylan in Dijon about 20 odd years ago. French bands like Renaud before his voice gave out and Ultra Vomit live in the parc in auxerre, but no really big groups. Dylan was... welll... Dylan not really a showman but genius lyricist and musicien. the Pogues were fucking brilliant, but you have to like that sort of thing.

  28. Just stopped by the local hardware store to get some bolts. they have a weapon clearing station near the front (next to the candy, of course). They practice better weapon safety than our boy Alec does....

  36. Excellent that you got across OK. Any border issues? Yeah, just because the sun is shining doesn't mean that it's warm. Hopefully your run down south will go well. The bikes are running OK? I bet you'll be glad of having the bikes when you get there.

  38. Unfortunately I saw them after Lee Brilleaux's passing. Saw a tribute band, The Feelgood Band, who are pretty good and kind of endorsed by the surviving members of the original band.

  42. I have been tempted by one of these, or a Shoei Hornet, I quite like to cruise along with my Shoei motocross helmet up until 90 or 100km/h as it's so light and the aerodynamics work well at low speeds, although I've only done for local short rides. BUT, I don't think I will want non flip up for touring, I find the full helmets just too clumsy with the bike stopped.
