Just because I like a cup of proper tea (have you ever tasted Spanish tea?) doesn't make me some sort of EDL/Britain First supporting flag shagger! I also like Chinese food......that doesn't make me Jackie fucking Chan does it?7 points

Better stamps and bank notes. I still shudder when I remember the old Irish bank notes before they got the Euro. Full of blokes who looked like extras out of Lord of the Rings.6 points

.......we left Britain! It seems longer than that really because so much has happened during those years. The two kids have left the country (Scott in 2013 and Steve in 2016), and the three dogs that came with us have long gone! We rescued four dogs here and are now down to one! We also rescued Dylan (the donkey) in 2006 and we lost him two years ago. I brought an XT660 and an XT350 with me...... ......the 660 went 2 months later and the 350 18 months later! So there's been a lot of changes over the 16 year period. But one thing hasn't changed, and that's the fact that we've never regretted it! We said when we left that we'd never set foot in Britain again......and we haven't! Spain isn't perfect, and it ain't for everybody......but it'll do for us!5 points

I LOVE Halloween..... I enjoy the autumn very much, I might have mentioned that. But for some reason I love Halloween the most. I have great memories from when I was a kid, so I guess it is my way of keeping those fun memories alive. The decorations are silly but fun, Godzilla even found a date for the party this year. HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!5 points

Lying is so annoying, it wastes everyones time, creates bad feeling and in some cases puts their health/life at risk. Usually motivated by the filthy lucre. They should tax lying and bonus then we’d finally be getting some use out of our politician’s4 points

I completely get this bit because that’s what we’re feeling, it feels so right. I just find Spanish peoples way easy, like being uptight doesn’t come naturally to them- unlike my British friends. I am surprised how well we seem to be getting on with the Spanish we’ve encountered, I thought they hated all brits but I’m not getting that at all, far too many smiles, laughter and offers of help, although I’m sure the speed conversational translation apps work now allowing the communication barrier to be removed has played a big part.4 points

Gurnos estate is next to Dowlais top, it's a competition to see who can scare the most outsiders. When I used to deliver to the working mans club on the Gurnos I had to go inside first and see the manager , he would then get some of the clientel to come out and guard the lorry while I delivered the ciggies3 points

I used to visit the Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr, right in the middle of the Gurnos estate! I mentioned to one of the guys in the hospital about the ice cream vans going round all day, even in the middle of winter. "They're not selling ice-creams, it's drugs!" Apparently one of the security guys at the hospital kept getting his small motorbike stolen from the hospital and then found trashed with the ignition hot wired and the steering lock smashed. In the end he left the keys in the bike and a note asking the joyriders to bring it back when they'd finished with it. Apparently it worked. His bike would go missing during the day, but was always back in its parking spot at the end of the day!3 points

Built up and not in a pretty way, crowded, dirt, dust n gravel beach, just not appealing, reminds me of a sprawling housing estate with big town facilities. Salobrenas population is 12,000 which is high compared to the rest of the villages round here, it doesn’t feel busy at all parking is easy and the population means most of what you need is here. Plus its prettyish3 points

And always tip like waiters, hairdressers etc. Spanish never do, so their reaction is like you've given them a million pounds! And they'll always remember it! If you find a Spaniard who could be important to you (like Guillermo) drop them a bottle of whiskey at Xmas or something. They'll never forget and from thereon they'll go to the ends of the earth for you!3 points

This might be worth thinking about @Slowlycatchymonkey Before you go venturing too far on the bikes I'd suggest you get the two of them booked in with Guillermo for full services.......because it sounds like you've had potchers looking at them in the past. The reason I say do it now is that once you get out in rural locations there's no mobile coverage......so if you get a breakdown in a location like that then you've really got problems. You could book them in together, then spend a few hours looking round the city of Granada......there's a lot to see there like the Alhambra! Don't be put off because it's a city, it's really nice there! No crackheads staggering round or shit like that. This is outside the Hospital that we go to....Virgen de las Nieves! In fact we're back there two weeks Friday!3 points

Yep I can see that and Im on for a hiding with it cos Im f’in deaf and thats a killer cos you cant hear the nuances just a general overall sound, you cant lip read a language you dont know so its going to be a long road. But I can already read it much better than I thought I ever would so I think its sinking in anyway and then itll be a case of understanding the pronunciation. I really dont get every word having a male or female gender though!3 points

It's a bit different with some of the bike people though! The problem with Brits in Spain is their desire to have friends around them, but are limited to who those can be because they can't communicate to an effective level in Spanish. So they crave the companionship of their "own kind" because they are seen as kindred spirits. The language is the key to the door.....it unlocks everything.3 points

Hes got a nice chain now and Guillermo (I think that’s pronounced William?) at the RE dealership in Granada is a really f’in nice guy, a good connection to have. Said if there is anything at all he can help us with just get in touch. TBH him and the pick up truck driver were so kind it really did turn Mr Slowlys crappy day... well that n the hot food and large whisky waiting for him3 points

Thanks for the advice. I have always approached other countries with the idea Im a guest in their country and have never considered my presence anywhere a gift to anyone plus Ive reached an age where being myself happens regardless of my intentions so that parts sorted Ive seen what youre talking about, the superiority thing is cringingly rude. Mr Slowly and I like our own company and making friends with Brits is not something I want at all. Having said that the Brit that went up to the next motorway junction and came back cos he saw us broken down was a lovely guy, a Kwak rider though but I wouldn’t hold that against him3 points

We always felt like fish out of water there Caroline.......as if we weren't meant to be there. We'd have left 30 years ago if not for the fact that we had family commitments that we had to honour, and it wasn't until 2005 that those commitments ceased to exist. When we set foot in Spain for the first time it just felt natural.....like we'd finally come home. Very strange feeling. Even now, we're very uncomfortable around Brits......but totally at ease with the Spanish. But having said that, we're not the sort of people that find it necessary to have other people around us......we just do our own thing. I've always said to people thinking of coming over that it's not a matter of Spain being right for you.......it's a matter of you being right for Spain. And the majority are not because they're too entrenched in their British ways and mentality. We never had British ways or mentality so it was never a case of integrating here.......we carried on as we always did and our ways were a good fit.3 points

Glad its been such a success for you. I can see the appeal. I suppose the not setting foot in Britain again is down to bad experiences but for me theres lots about the place I love, cant imagine never going back, not that Ive got a lot of choice since Brexit3 points
