It’s a complicated topic. Hormonal changes (menopause) are thought only a small part of it but hormones in general are a big part from birth. Men’s bones are bigger, testosterone encourages bone growth so men’s skeletons become larger during puberty. Men are genetically predisposed to gaining bone density when they do physical tasks like lifting a weight, women not so much. Women will lose minerals during pregnancy as the parasitic nature of baking a baby means the goods have to come from somewhere (hence pregnant women can often have trouble with their teeth). There’s also at the very basic the idea that women’s frames are smaller, the bones are finer to start with so simply have less to lose before it effect the bones n joints. I believe (but don’t quote me on this) women are 4 times more likely to suffer from arthritis.4 points

Well having said in another thread that drones are useless for spying as the cameras are ultra wide angle and even people fairly close are unrecognisable Well, not if it's me building one LOL, back in 2015 I decided to play around with some tech (as I do) and put a 10 x zoom camera onto a purpose built (by me) multirotor (drone) so if I could get stable video without too much shake I also tried a 30 x zoom camera but it was too shaky when zoomed in3 points

Now I'm no expert but zooming in on a bowling green is only going to get you shots of several soup-spillers3 points

Only once Terry......early in 2006 on Big Bird. I got totally lost up there......could hardly speak any Spanish and I didn't know where the fuck I was. No mobile coverage either. These were taken up there.....somewhere! I remember having to turn back round and retrace my steps to find my way back. I'd probably gone about 45 minutes north of Cazorla before I turned round.3 points

I'm going to meet an old mate of yours from Carediff next week here in Spain.......Mark Walsh. Turns out he's a friend of Jane.....the Cardiff girl I did the site for! I spoke to him on the phone and he said he knew you from Pool! When he told me he used to have a bike but doesn't now......I said "Bottle gone then? Typical Carediff!"3 points

Here's an idea1 Get the Gay Harley on a Recovery Truck when it breaks down next and get it dropped off at @Six30's place. He sticks it in his van, and then gets the van put on a car transporter headed for Spain. Then fly over and you can sit in the van with Six and drive the bikes round Spain! Sorted!3 points

Yes, the checkpoint is on the mountain road between Mae Hong Son and Chiang Mai Provinces, and although checkpoints proliferate all through the provinces, this is the only one where I always see the army actively manning it and searching people, apart from at the ones near national borders. (Most checkpoints here are nothing more than a traffic hazard... presumably the soldiers are all out the back make tiktoks.) Primarily they're looking for drugs and other contraband. They just wave you through if you're on a big bike and clearly just out riding (except for when the province is totally closed, which happened last year during the first covid lockdown). They will question people in vehicles, most get waved through but the people who tend to get stopped are the hiluxes loaded with cabbages or hill tribe people on beat up scooters. Mostly they're chill but I have seen a few people taken away to the toilet block to be strip searched, which is kind of chilling when you see three male soldiers taking one scared woman into the bathroom... Moments like that, I'm so conscious of my privilege as a white skinned foreigner who - because I am riding a big bike - is assumed to be relatively rich (and thus possibly important). I might get blamed for a motor vehicle accident I didn't cause, or I might get pulled over by the traffic police hoping to make some tea money by finding I have international licence, but I am extremely unlikely to randomly strip searched in a toilet block on top of a mountain.3 points

I’m not a top gear fan, all the fake matey ladishness puts me off but that is a genuinely good tribute. Well worth watching. Although you might want some tissues cos there was definitely someone chopping onions nearby when I watched it It’s series 31 episode 1 and it starts at 30mins 35 seconds if you want to skip past the rest of the ecky thump banter.2 points

The brits along with most 1st world countries LOVE German cars. As for the plates I’d be amazed if the great British unwashed recognise one EU plate from another (if its not British it’s simply “foreign”2 points

I just threw those dates out so nobody would suggest July and August Ray. They'd all end up in Casualty with heatstroke if they came then. @Six30 thinks he can hide away in aircon environments......but as you know, that's just not possible!2 points

Aw thank you so much, I'm so pleased you're enjoying the writing! This makes me really, really happy! Cheers to that librarian streak. I do love the English language. Thank you also, sincerely, for asking straight questions about $$$. I appreciate straight questions, on top of the fact that I appreciate your kind words and supportiveness. I do actually have a patreon account, I just don't promote it much because it's not where I tend to post content (so I wonder if I'm providing subscription value behind the paywall, you know? Would hate to disappoint anyone on that front.) (...And maybe I also just feel awkward about talking about money... I should get over that.) But you make a good point about the subscription structure being super convenient, and my patreon does exist! It's www.patreon.com/bikehedonia . Thanks again for asking the question.1 point
