The forcast was for cold but clear this afternoon so I planned to ride. around 11 it still wasn't clear but I went out anyway. it was about 6deg c and misty but with all liners in place in jacket and trousers, 2 pairs of socks and heated grips I reckoned It wouldn't be a problem. 220km, riding clockwise. By the time I got to Joux la ville, the sun had burnt through, but that didn't last long. I stopped for fuel in Avallon (1,76€/L !) and then lost all visibilité as I gained what little altitude the Morvan has. Stunning views If you look carefully at the triangular warning sign it says "Chasse en cours" which is what the hunters are obliged to put up roadside if they're beating anywhere near a road. What it really means is that for the next few kilometers, on top of the fog, gravel patches, cold and other road users, you also need to look out for panicking wildlife fleeing the hunt, the hunters dogs chasing the fleeing wildlife and a more or less numerous party of pissed up trigger happy hunters in 4 wheel drives, with loaded guns... if you get run over, or stampeded upon or shot, on the public highway, ... well the signs were up so it's your own fault! the hunters crack me up, they all spend vast amounts of money on specialist camouflage clothing so they can't be seen. Then they all have to wear orange hi vis vests in the field cos otherwise they shoot each other...... and their dogs, This is the northern end of the "Lac de panneciére" one of the canal feeder reservoirs, emptied for the winter this year Tiger in the mist On the way home I rode through Mhére, which is where they filmed "Les Vétos" ( which probably never made it out of Burgundy, let alone out of france). The fog / mist was thicker in places and around 4 pm the temperatur went into freefall and by the time I got home around 5 it was down to about 2C and starting to get dark, but the fog had cleared.7 points

Well looks like I will be staying close to home this weekend. Most of the forest service roads are closed due to the rain storm. Too many mud slides and trees down over the road. So much for my Himalayan fun. Then my favourite road along with many of the side roads are still closed, so much for my Honda fun.... ....and NOW we have fuel rationing because the supply roads are such a mess and they can't get volume through, only 30L allowed at one time per visit......so much for my 4x4 fun. Sooooo, good thing I have many fun and interesting projects around the house to keep me busy....5 points

There's a formula for bridge height signs that errs on the safe side, so it is probably half a foot higher then that. But then some twat resurfaces the road and doesn't tell the bridge people who look after the signs that there is more or less room of course. From Chapter 4 TSM 7.4.1. The imperial figure shown on signs to indicate the available headroom should be at least 3 inches less than the measured height to allow a safety margin. If the resulting figure is not a multiple of 3 inches, it should be rounded down to the nearest lower multiple of 3 inches. Example 1: measured height 15’-2”: Step 1 subtract 3” to create a safety margin 14’-11” Step 2 round down to nearest multiple of 3” Step 3 sign as 14’-9”. Example 2: measured height 14’-6”: Step 1 subtract 3” to create a safety margin 14’-3” Step 2 sign as 14’-3” (rounding down not required as already a multiple of 3”)3 points

yep. they drop the level every winter so they can absorb the winter rain and snowmelt. This year is exceptonall cos they have to inspect the Dam every 10 years I think and they need to empty the reservoir to do that.2 points

I’m not a fan of these new full colour displays. Fella with a 2020 Africa twin had his fail, saved only by his warranty. £2,400 to replace it plus labour. They’re in fashion right now, my own bike was mocked in 2018 for not having it, I’m rather glad about that. But it’s certainly put the wind up a few owners. The cost if it goes wrong.2 points

The guys doing that are trials riders... they know what they're doing. This is why I am now spending every afternoon pulling tiny wheelies on the trials bike and trying to ride over pipes, because I need to be able to do those moves too!2 points

From the link above, this is currently being converted into our new Town hall, no one wants to work there it's a nightmare to get to or park around. Even the Elephant Man died rather than stay there, I bet I get his old room (when they finish getting all the asbestos out of it), or a desk outside on the old helicopter pad, I'm sure that wasn't an original feature!2 points

Ride by wire throttle, rider modes, fecking TV screen stuck in front of you and it weighs 15 pounds more than it's KTM sister. Oh ! and it's not a LC8 engine , the LC8 twin was a V-twin configuration . On the plus side it looks better than the KTM 890.1 point
