2 hours was about all I was going to get, by the time N0.1 daughter had emptied the fridge into a coldbox and dissapeared off out of it back to uni in Dijon, it was gone 3pm and the temps would drop off again with sunset so I just picked a 100 odd km loop that was already in my phone from a previous ride and just rode it the other way round. mostly smaller back roads and with the weather we've been having they were covered in a film of slime and mud from the fields that made it a little "interesting" in places. Add to that the number of "chasseurs" in the woods with their hi viz camouflage worrying the wildlife into inhabitual daytime action there were moments when I was more than pleased to have an effective ABS system to assist in avoiding a deer and numerous rabbits and hares who seemed intent on escaping the flourescent gun toting nutters by hitching a ride... The light was not strong and failing fast so little point in taking pics. the wildlife, having been politely refused permission to come aboard, didn't hang around long enough for me to get the camera out.4 points

I know that's a strange title......but this is quite a strange occurrence. Because normally I get an approximate location of abandoned villages, buildings etc via internet searches, or through scanning Google Maps and Google Earth. Well this one came from neither of those sources......it was just something I stumbled across following farm tracks on the Granada/Almeria border. I have no idea which province it's in as there are no signposts in places like that, and I don't even have a name for the village either. Because it doesn't actually exist anywhere. I'm wondering if it's one of those mythical Ghost Villages that only appears once a year or something? Anyway.....wherever it is, and whatever it may be called, this one was very unusual! Firstly I did about 20kms up some rough farm tracks...... And there it was! Now this wasn't just a few bits of rubble......there were even deserted streets. This seemed to be the main street running through it...... Empty buildings everywhere......many of whom weren't as old as the ones I normally visit. Had a look inside the ones that were accessible...... This was probably the largest area of abandoned properties that I've ever visited......yet there's no reference to it's actual existence anywhere. The bike got quite dusty and sandy covering this area, so once I got back to town it was straight to the Jet Wash. However, they'd run out of fucking water. No water cuts in town........it's just their car wash has no water! Don't fucking ask! So my day consisted of stumbling across an abandoned village that doesn't seem to have existed......and a Jet Wash that has no water! For no apparent reason!3 points

This is a ride that I've been planning to do for a while but finally got the chance today. During the first lockdown I watched a lot of old country programmes on YouTube, in particular 'Out of Town' and one presenter I really liked was Jack Hargreaves, some of you older Brits may remember him ............ Anyway, he did a programme about the river Tarrant and how it gave it's name to eight villages that it passes through in Dorset. So today I decided to follow his route nearly 45 years later. It wasn't a great start as there was freezing fog in Bristol........... and 90 minutes later it was still the same as I reached North Dorset............ Eventually as I climbed up Spread Eagle Hill near Melbury Abbas I got above the fog................ About 5 miles down the road I turned off towards Stubhampton into glorious sunshine. At Stubhampton you get the first sighting of the Tarrant , it rises up from the chalk hills on Cranbourne Chase but there wasn't a lot of it today........... and then I came to the first of the villages bearing it's name, Tarrant Gunville........... a bit further on in Tarrant Hinton there was a bit more of a trickle.............1 point

Do not know if it did at Skeggy...........dad would not drive that far, even in summer. Not a adventurous chap, furthest he went westward in his life was to Derby......... The lake at our local park froze solid, some dick took his car onto the frozen lake, without going through the ice.1 point

From there I rode back down the hill and through Tarrant Rawston where the Tarrant was begining to look more like a river........... and then the village of Tarrant Rushton where I went to look at the ford............ at the moment I am not allowed to trail ride (i'm not arguing with my wife) so I just walked down to have a look at it, there was a steady flow in the middle but I will return in summer for some water sports (oo-er missus)..............1 point
