  1. Born in Gorleston on sea and lived here all my life, as were my parents. Spoiled the brew with Mandi as she's from chadderton near Manchester so at least the kids won't be boning each other.

  2. I had a great ride up to the pub a few miles from Betws-y-Coed yesterday, its about 150 miles one way from my home which doesn't sound a lot but its 150 miles of roads with tight bends dips and humps with some of them quite narrow and covered in crap from farm vehicles and bad weather. I was waiting for the frost to lift but at 11am my car was still frozen solid so had to just leave otherwise i would be putting my tent up in the dark. I took the A470 to Brecon not the nicest of roads to start but its just a bit you have to do to get north fast. The temperature was just above 3°c the bike was running so smooth with the more road biased tyre on the back and sounding nice again, I had my bar muffs fitted with heated grips and heated jacket on, with a grin on my face i didn't have a care in the world then bugger i forgot my ear plugs something i never used in the past but i am trying to use now as my ears tend to ring a bit after a long ride but no chance of going back so i press onto the upper chapel road (B4520) from Brecon to Builth Wells, a great road for any bike. From here it's back on the A470 to Rhayader stopped for fuel, cash and to check the bike over to see if the load is still good That's the latest thing in tent urinals on the top of my bag Out of Rhayader i took a right off the A470 onto the B4518 to Llanidloes and past Clywedog Reservoir Have to use google for images here https://www.google.com/maps/@52.4847135,-3.5955438,3a,75y,208.11h,80.61t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sgXdvNRGi2coZ0fEfA5bhkg!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3DgXdvNRGi2coZ0fEfA5bhkg%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D206.62186%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192 before i get to Llanbrynmair i hang another right onto an unclassified road now i'm on the roads i really like Next stop was to check on the fence where @boboneleg tried to reenact Steve McQueens great escape and unlike Steve McQueen Bob did get over the fence to freedom but his bike didn't make it only one post still leaning and the fencing vertical wires are still where the DR pushed them to This road took me to the Llangadfan where i then picked up the B4395 to the B4393 around Lake Vyrnwy Google to the rescue again https://www.google.com/maps/@52.778067,-3.4932284,3a,75y,356.18h,72.62t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1QipNFHzCZWdndfOaYtnlWVYgHY5xusSDhN_UiIYhE!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipNFHzCZWdndfOaYtnlWVYgHY5xusSDhN_UiIYhE%3Dw203-h100-k-no-pi-10-ya40-ro0-fo100!7i8192!8i4096 At the end of the res there's two unclassified roads that go over to east and west sides of Bala Lake i normally ride the west side from Dinas Mawddwy but decided to ride the east side today here's a few photos of the road up and over the pass Got to the pub just after 3pm and had to work out how to put the tent up its been so long since the last time i done it trying out a light weight camp bed i bought many years ago but never got round to using it got to say i had a good nights sleep but woke up to a malfunction with the in tent urinal I think this was the cause of the urinal malfunction packed up this morning by 08:30 all dry with no hangover and all ready for the Dragon campsite felling great. Went in for breakfast and while i was in there the heavens opened and it pissed it down i thought there's no way i'm sticking the tent back up in that so i thought fuck it and headed home. i found a pair of ear pugs in jacket pocket so had a quiet ride home LOL, The rain wasn't too bad but the wind was blowing me about like a flag and on the narrow mountain roads it was bloody dangerous and i started feeling a bit queasy so stuck to the main roads home the bike ran faultlessly

  5. Last minuit changes! Due to the risk of not being able to get back into france and the complications that would involve for the family ( not to mention to my wallet) we had decided that I would be going to the UK alone on the 21st, We decided to wait till the 11th before booking a crossing and cancelling the cottage reservatoion as this was the date the UK announced it was dropping the need for a covid test within 48 hrs of arrival and I wanted to see if France would reciprocate and drop the need for a negative test 48hrs before comig home. no announcement was made during the day yesterday so wifey cancelled here holiday time with work ( nice of them to allow that) and in the evening I sat down to make my travel plans, cancel the holiday cottage and reserve a crossing for just me. I was an the ferry booking page when Mrs MooN told me they'd just announced that France is dropping the requirement for fully vaccinated voyagers from an "orange" country to show proof of a negative test on arrival. So, back to "plan A" for us too ( insofar as we actually had a plan at all...) and it now looks like we will be travelling " En Famille" after all. @boboneleg you're going to need a bigger tin of biscuits mate.... Seriously though, it'd be great to say hi if you're around at all that week, I guess you're about an hour and a half from Witney, something like that. If you want to meet up somewhere for a beer / tea/ coffee, whatever. I'll drop you a PM from here soon as I know exactly what our plans are.

  6. Had to google what Lenor is, makes sense using it for camping, it's outdoorable, as if dried outside

  7. Love to see the Krauser Stars. I've told you before, Lenor bottles are the urinal of choice for the discerning camper.

  8. Born in Hillingdon, but then spent 4 years in Germany, then to Dagenham in time to start school, now the northern part of Essex since 1997. I think my Mum's family came from the Peckham area originally (like Del Trotter) and my Dad's family are from a fishing/sailing river estuary village near Colchester called Rowhedge. Graveyard is full of Powells. My grandparents on both sides moved into the same road in Dagenham in the late 1920s and that was where my Mum and Dad met as children.

  10. We had to head out to a pharmacy this morning for Mandy to get a COVID test done because she was pinged by the app yesterday. Result was negative anyway. Off to a few car dealers this afternoon, as Mandy is looking for a new car. Then it'll probably be beer and snacks and Netflix this evening, after the curry, which is cooking quite nicely in the slow cooker at the moment!

  12. Hungover. The pleasure pain ratio for whisky is well out of sync. Might wander down to a Chiringuito get a medical emergency glass of plonk and stare at the sea for the rest of the day. Or maybe just fester here eating crisps, watching crap on Netflix and wait for my son to get hungry enough to cave and cook the steaks. I don't know what to do, this is why hangovers suck

  15. Righto, I have stripped a lot of weight off the little bike and yesterday was her first run out. I could nitpick a lot of things like, suspension is not great and could do with some more power, but that would be the pointless moanings of someone who's been spoiled rotten with gas gas and ktm and technix suspension in the past. Overall it's a great little bike for the money and certainly something I can happily wrestle through some fairly gnarly stuff. Loving the bar position in particular - no risers, just replaced original bars with a renthal fat bar - and it's so much less taxing on the upper body than all the other dirtbikes I've ridden. Suspect this is what happens when you finally get to riding a bike designed for people of your own dimensions? Anyway I could go on and on but suffice to say that the bike is now dirty and I'm loving getting to know it. We're going to have a long and productive relationship.

  18. That lenor bottle would be a frightening size for a tent urinal, the moment when you realise you need to stop quickly would be on you before you knew it. Same with a pint glass. The pint glass is also a bad idea cos the person youre sharing with can wake up thirsty then tell you they know why you didn't drink the apple juice.. true story, don't ask

  19. Sounds like a tough trip Fred! But can you explain this "urinal malfunction"? Are you saying that you pissed yourself?

  20. The big Carrefour in Narbonne had a Chinese New year promotion thing on a week or two back, so we picked up some Thai red and green curry paste, along with some coconut cream whilst it was there. But we got some curry powder and garam massala in a healthfood shop a week or so ago, so the curry crisis has been averted! Prawn crackers are like that!

  21. Got your curry powder then? We're having slow cooker curry tomorrow, Chinese curry chicken, its surprising how well those flavours mix together. Ive eaten all the prawn crackers though, the hangover made me do it.

  23. Thats great news. Spain has just dropped the requirement for teenagers to be double jabbed because the hotel association ripped into the government for causing them to already lose millions in cancellations. The Spanish travel and tourism minister did such a fast uturn he could get a job with Boris

  36. Moved into new thread cos this one is quite interesting! Born and bred in Swansea, with both parents born in Swansea. I lived there till I was 39. Hated the shithole! My father's parents were from Swansea, and my mother's parents were from North Wales and moved to Swansea before my mother was born. My paternal grandmother was a Jew and from a Romany family. I inherited the Jewboy nose unfortunately. I've never done a DNA test because odds on there's going to be some English DNA in there somewhere. And I couldn't live with that stigma! Jew.....Gypsy......I can live with that! But English? What about the rest of you?

  37. So you're going to get soaked riding for hours to a place where you get pissed, and then sleep in a muddy field surrounded by a bunch of Sad Old Greasers @Sir Fallsalot? Can't say that's my idea of a fun weekend! What you say @Six30?

  38. Mandi's been going on about watching the matrix movie, had a look and no-ones showing it any more. Home this weekend apart no doubt for some bloody shopping. Dragged all the bikes out for a run up this morn, all started bar the TDM. Think it's pissed as I put it away covered in shit from the last ride.
