  3. A big GS isn't a nice motorway bike though, not in the way a proper fairing and smooth 4 or more cylinder bike is with a long ratio top gear. 140kmh on the motorway gets old fast, I think. Yes, ok, but that's like my GS, more at home on twisty roads than if you were to want to do really big distances. I don't think nobody bought big tourers for wanting to be seen on one, though. Being seen on a GS isn't something that appealing either, plenty about and not exactly special, often by people who have trouble going down a sidewalk.

  4. Neither was I. Having said that, I didn't flog the shit out of it any more than usual, and even if I did it should have endured more than 220km of punishment. I wonder if it was not adjusted right from the factory, or if something went wrong when they chucked the aftermarket levers on? It doesn't make sense to get 90,000km out of one set of clutch plates on the KTM and 220km from one set of clutch plates on the KLX...

  5. Greggs is a culinary extravaganza for the most discerning foodies, and bus drivers.

  6. So I was like, "let's check out this new remote route through the wilderness!" and THREE DAYS LATER we made it home. Turns out that it was most likely a drug smuggling track not a normal trail... lol.

  8. Yeah I definitely didn't notice any slipping until the final hill where it gave out rapidly and totally. I think you might be right about quality though. Although the klx230r and klx230 have basically the same engine, their maintenance schedules are unbelievably different. The R is clearly in a different performance (and stress) league than the standard, and it makes you wonder what else has been bodged on the inside to keep the cost of the standard edition down, on the assumption that it won't be working so hard.

  11. Called progress. Sports touring sounds faster. My Tracer gt is amongst the Yamaha sports touring range and does it well.

  12. Pete's right. Feckin 'Adventure' bikes , it gets on my tits. I still call them 'big trailes' . Good point though Pedro, what the hell has happened to the 'Touring' bike. Imo you'd do best just buying the latest version of your GS as I don't think anything else comes close.

  13. Adv bikes have taken over Pedro.....I suspect there's very little demand for old school tourers now. Basically everybody wants to be seen on a GS like yours!

  25. It's a chain of cheap and cheerful bakery shops, @Pedro . Often frequented by those with limited money and no respect for their bodies!

  26. It's just a set of engine dresser bars. The trouble is that the shipping cost and duty weren't broken down, so I don't know how much VAT and duty or shipping cost was. As it was DHL I'm guessing that the shipping cost was pretty steep! On the plus side, it arrived in a couple of days! And it was still slightly cheaper than buying it locally.

  30. It’s a minefield isn’t it! I have separate prime amazon.es and amazon.co.uk accounts and the default address on the Spanish one is an Amazon locker so if the webpage page being in a different language isn’t enough of a warning it’ll only end up in a locker for a few days before being returned Amazon Prime in Spain is only £26 compared with £80 in the UK, greedy swines! I have still nearly sent something to Spain from the IUK though, you can’t put enough safeguards in place for some people Thats A LOT of tax on your parcel! I understand it’s all over the place and even if you look up the code it can still double or treble but that’s crazy! Wotcha buy from triumph?

  34. The trouble is that some people have ordered stuff off Amazon in other countries, but the items have been shipped from the UK so, although there's nothing saying that's going to happen, people have been contacted by the postal service demanding additional payment. Hopefully that's not the case here, but yeah, keep an eye open for that. I recently bought something from World of Triumph in the UK. I knew that I'd be paying duty and VAT as well as the shipping charge, but they added another 75% to the total I paid. It was still cheaper than buying direct from Triumph here, but it did make a bargain a bit less of a bargain than I had hoped!
