Bloody hell that’s a biggun I would not want to be out in that in the snow! In the golden olden days if you bought a 4x4 there was a diff lock and they did actually have 4 wheel drive, then 4X4s became desirable and purely road driven and so manufactures saved some dosh leaving off the the very things that made it a 4X4 It did have some auto replacement thing on it (not esp it was something else I can’t remember what) and it did work to reasonable degree, I never got stuck in muddy fields but it wasn’t as good. I felt conned but it’s my fault for paying more attention when I bought it, I was more focused on getting a running board so I could get in and out without flashing my knickers to the world2 points

I spotted two young boys standing in the street with no shoes on. I also now understand the comment made in Steptoe and Son when Albert is bemoaning the lack of father's name on his birth certificate and suggesting it may have been the Muffin Man who called round a lot because his mum cried when he died. Harold says that his Dad does have a very flat top to his head. https://spitalfieldslife.com/2022/03/01/charles-spurgeons-londoners-o/2 points

Given that the Ukrainian conflict started eight years ago when Russia annexed Crimea it is safe to say it’s all bollocks.1 point

No.....I think it's all total shit. It's just that whenever anything happens he comes back into fashion and people start interpreting whatever he said about anything as some sort of prediction. The religious zealots do the same thing with Bible verses as well.1 point

I read something a couple of days ago about Nostradamus' predictions. They're suitably vague enough that almost anything can be read into them. Dunno about Baba Vanga. Covid was unable to thin the population sufficiently, so Mother Nature will need to try something else!1 point

Long wheelbase VW Transporter Bob, During the first lockdown i was working in Llanelli, the M4 was empty so i ramped the cruise control up to 100mph and left it there, didn't touch the accelerator or brake pedal from Cardiff to port Talbot never been able to do that before LOL, The van was totally stable and cruised effortlessly, Vans have come a long way from when i first started working.1 point

It just finished now......no idea why Whyte no-showed. Fury gave respect to the Ukrainian boxers who enlisted, and said that if the conflict spreads then him and his old man are ready to get stuck in as well.1 point

my Toyota Auris, which is hybrid and obviously has their CVT ( continuous Variable Transmission) which is a bizarre type of automatic box ( but doesn't actually have "staged" gears as such, has no manual mode. It does have a position with enhanced engine braking and increased energy recuperation via the wheels to recharge the batteries for use in moutainous areas which reduces the amount of actual brake needed.1 point

Yes my works van has one of the newer auto boxes as in doesn't have a torque converter but a 7 speed duel clutch transmission which you can switch between manual and auto, In manual you can change down the gears and it will hold the gear you've selected but its not a true manual as it will change up or down automatically if the revs get too high or too low to protect the engine and transmission from damage.1 point
-
Don't leave it in drive you can down shift an auto manually and it stays in that gear. I used to go down some real steep stuff in my Toyota surf purely on engine braking no problem1 point

I was reading a comparison between the CRF1000 when it first came out and whatever KTM's equivalent bike was it was a long distance test with a mix of dirt and road, the conclusion was the KTM was a better bike but the presenters fought over who was going to ride the CRF back because the KTM was frying them in the heat of the day and neither wanted to ride it1 point

Yes, I rode my first KTM 950 in August in London, I thought my innner right thigh was going to toast1 point

I’m planning on taking the Glide to Iceland at some point. The country not the supermarket, just to help Six avoid making a cock of himself.1 point

Good thread Pedro! For me it would be a GS like yours......and the destination: Mühlberg / Stammlager IV B. Where my father was imprisoned as a POW in 1944/1945......it's where he contracted the TB that eventually caused his death in 1959.1 point
