I thought of that, but tempting more ants to invade the garage didn't feel like a solution I went to have a look just now, not the numbers of yesterday but there were still a few around. I'm getting annoyed, also made me look closely into the bike and realize what a fucking state it's in, proper dirty. Will have to buy some sort of liquid to give it a good soaking once the weather changes. Fuck it, I'll ride it on the weekend making my way somewhere, it's going to be nice by then, let's see how they like 200kmh. Only Berlin assembled engines for these ants!4 points

I missed this. From the govt website- “From 4am Friday 18 March, all COVID-19 travel restrictions will be lifted, including the passenger locator form (PLF) for arrivals into UK, as well as all tests for passengers who do not qualify as vaccinated. This change, therefore, removes the need for unvaccinated passengers to take a pre-departure test and a day 2 post arrival test.“ Whoop whoop one less bit of shitty covid related paperwork to fill in4 points

When life gives you lemons... Make lemon merengue pie! My new flatmate suggested I should do something with the big box of lemons a customer gave me, so I asked her what she liked made with lemons, and she said Lemon Merengue Pie, with real lemon curd! Immediately I looked for a recipe to attempt this delight I have never made before, none of its components actually! Decided to go with a recipe from Jamie Oliver and proceeded to do it in reverse order of the proper protocol as I normally do and also like normal, I got lucky and the curd set well and the pastry came out good and the Italian merengue was just about perfect! Very much helped by the eggs from another customer that gives me lots of them from her very well cared for chickens!! May all these Northern Europeans coming here in search of "The Good Life" find me and give me their produce!! The whole thing has been a journey of discovery for me and to finish it off had to use a kitchen lighter to try to burn the tips of the merengue, so really not the prettiest of results... We haven't tried it yet, will be super excited when we do, because this things has been 2 days in the making!! More pictures tomorrow of the unveiling and eating!! Sorry @Pedro for hijacking your thread, specially when you are not here and are not going to eat any of this!!2 points

No tests required. there's a form to fill in on-line and from there on just show them the NHS App that has vaccination proofs. Obviously we are both fully vaccinated. currently.. and as an aside, Im now PCR testing weekly for work. and a LF test before each shift. unbelievably tedious. but.. vulnerable adults and that.2 points

Today I booked the Tunnel and also bought travel insurance with Navigator. With everything that's going on. (off) People have dropped out, understandable to an extent but, I'm not deterred. So the plan is just the same only I will have company as @Rob M is coming along and has also made his bookings today. As he has some commitments we have moved the dates back by one week. Booked a premier Inn for the night before the crossing and pushed the boat out somewhat by buying a full breakfast too!! First day is going to be a bit of a slog, we want to get down to Austria in two days and that's a little over 630 miles, so will take a big bite out of that on the Saturday and then a fairly relaxed start on the Sunday. Then on the Monday over the Timmelsjoch Pass and wend our way through the Italian Alps to our base in southern Austria. This is the Plan. But.. I have a Plan B if the weather decides not to play ball. We'll head for the Vercors again and explore that region as we enjoyed it so much last time. Moolies on the beach. But... if all goes to plan, we'll be based in Austria for the most part and explore the Dolomites and east towards Carinthia and Slovenia.2 points

At the moment other countries still want their version of the PLF filled out before they'll let you in so you would have to do the French version to get on the chunnel/ferry to France. By June hopefully more will have dropped the requirement. Its the PLF to get into the UK thats been dropped. So you won't have any hassle getting back in. That might seem minor but the return journey is more stressful if you if you dont have access to a printer and are relying on finding things on your phone which tech being what it is always lets you down when there's a massive queue and you need it most On my first return (when all restrictions were in place) I had used the government website to get proof of vaccination QR codes but then for the return journey I needed to use the app which involved facial scanning and passports pics. I then got an email saying thankyou for your application it can take up to 48hrs to varify your account. My flight was only 24 hours away, that wasn't much of a laugh! So yer hopefully all heading in the right direction.2 points

Got any air vents or plastic pipe work. I killed an ant in my VW Golf as I was driving once. It was on the dashboard having a little wander. 5 minutes later I saw another one, then another 5 minutes after that. I think I had a small colony in the air vents, my car is parked on top of concrete block paving which sits on sand. There are always little piles of sand made by ants between the blocks. I think that because I don't use my car very often some had decided to camp out in it.2 points

main problem is the amount of tax on the bloody stuff and as it's all percentage based, the higher the price the more money the govt makes out of it. I dunno how true this is but I read lest week that if a litre of petrol is 2€ then 1€60 of that is govt tax...1 point

Theyre likely to want you to start paying rent asap though aren't they and its a bit risky committing to renting when there's a crazy element in the mix! Any tricks up your sleeve or are you just gonna have to suck it up?1 point

It’s great fun. I tend to head towards extreme punishment for minor infractions this is usually a sure fire winner cos a lot of people love the idea of punishing anyone who takes a different approach from them. If that flies I move onto the mass annihilation of whatever type of person they don’t like. I’ve only once managed to get passed that onto discussing the best methods to achieve this cos if they have agreed to the mass annihilation part I usually give the game away by laughing and telling them they would have loved my mate Adolf (don’t recommend that part for your sons wife ). I got six30 as far as tasering school children for absenteeism before he twigged and bailed But it’s more likely someone will realise what’s going on if it’s written than in face to face conversation where your encouragement keeps the flow going. Last one Mr Slowly did resulted in agreement on the mass sterilisation of stupid people. His brother who’s not daft but is ultra right wing did eventually realise what was going on and smiled cos he knew he’d made a fool of himself so I asked how it all would be decided cos it seemed likely to me they’d all be on that list1 point

After something to eat and a cigar and a good chinwag with other real motorcycle owners I headed south then east along the line of the pentlands. As the sun set the temperature plummeted but I had a great ride through the hills where the torque of the Harley really comes into its own. I got back into Edinburgh as darkness fell, I covered 135 miles in total, it was a great day.1 point

One thing i wish would happen is for all staff in places serving and preparing food to keep on wearing masks, nothing to do with covid but to stop the grubby bastards breathing or dripping on your food1 point
