  6. So today I headed south into the Scottish Borders. I travelled down the A7 which is a great biking road about 50miles to Selkirk. From there I headed along the Yarrow Valley. Saw some of Pete's love interests. Then headed along to St. Mary's Loch, i just missed taking a picture of a fighter jet doing a low pass over the water which looked impressive. He was probably just oggling my Harley. I stopped off at Loch of the Lowes which feeds into St.Mary's Loch and checked out the sights. From here I continued toward Moffat, the scenery was off the wall. After Moffat I rode the A701 then picked up the A72 to Peebles and back to Edinburgh. 145 miles in total.

  10. I've sussed out the score with property rentals here. They don't put them with agents because they don't trust them......and they don't advertise them because they don't want Gypsies turning up. So it's all down to who you know. And strange as it may sound to you pus faced ballsacks.....I'm very well known, very well liked, and very well respected here. Tell 'em @Tym! Anyway, I happened to mention to Paco who owns the animal feed warehouse that I'm looking for a flat for my boy (who he knows).......and he has one in the town. First floor, two beds, fully furnished and in very good order.......€300 a month. And if we want it, it's ours! His wife's away till the end of next week, but when she's back she'll show us round. Also got recommended to Carmela who runs an upmarket hairdressers and beauticians, and she may well have one available within the next 2 weeks as the current tenant hasn't renewed yet. Paco's sounds the best option (as he's a good friend of ours), but we're spreading the net as wide as we can and I've still got more leads to chase. Getting shit done is my middle name!

  14. Just to add to Tony's post. For 10 years I've always worked out my budgets beforehand. I tend to over estimate and always come back with change. These are my calculations for this trip taking into account current fuel prices. £20 a day for living doesn't sound much but it covers food and drink in Europe unless we eat out, but overall it balances out. Before: Eurotunnel = £113 Travel Insurance (via Navigator) = £33 Breakdown = Covered in my insurance from Carol Nash. For trip: · Petrol = (4000 miles/180x£28) = £622 · Daily living = (£20 x 16) = £320 · Campsites (15 nights @£15 night) = £225 Total= £1167 (Take 600 euros in cash, rest on card) I reckon I'll spend about a grand.

  15. The pre trip costs have already been spent. Overnight at a premier inn, tunnel return, travel insurance and roadside assistance. I will be taking €600 in cash and using my card for all fuel purchases. Austria has cheaper fuel than Germany, Italy and France. Which is why we will be based there and eating mostly out of a Lidl or Aldi shared between the two of us. And eating out on the cheap where appropriate. If the cash runs out I’ll pop to a cash point for a top/up. My bike is quite frugal. Here a full tank costs me £40 right now but I don’t expect to be filling up from empty every day. But if I did then that would mean £600+ on fuel costs at UK prices. It’s going to be a lot more expensive than usual. But the times we are living in make that expected. I’m not too worried, it’s better than staying at home filled with regret. I’ve not been defeated by the pandemic so far and won’t be this time either.

  16. I'm buzzing for this trip, my first away for ages and Tony and I have toured plenty of times before. If the weather plays ball it'll be epic and if Plan B is needed that'll be cool too, we went to the Vercors in 2017 and loved it. Oh, and I'm on a new ride. The big BMW has gone and I've got this: 11 weeks to go

  17. Messaged her father to tell him that we are getting things sorted this end......so he's seeing her tomorrow to make sure she sorts her shit out that end! So I'm pulling Steve and the two boys into Spain......while he gives her a boot up the ass out of Poland! It's for their own good of course!

  22. Obviously it depends on the flat whether we pull the trigger, but from what Paco tells me it should fit the bill. Gotta make some enquiries re setting up fibre optic before he gets here, and making sure I can get the cost charged against the business.

  27. Just fancied a change. I have always liked the Sprint and it ticks all the boxes for me. Sporty, comfortable and a bit of a bargain at the moment due to a lot of folk wanting adventure bikes. Early impressions are good, plenty of torque, more nimble than the BMW and so comfortable. The gel seat and higher bars make the difference. Main improvement has to be that triple engine though, sounds incredible.
