My mate phoned tonight as i got home from work asking if i fancied a ride out on the Beta's, at first i wasn't to keen but remembered i am working away next week and probably the week after so wont get a chance for a while, it was just a local run on the mountains i haven't ridden in years Made our way up to what is locally called the tump to have a play which is this old coal tip (Photo from google) There was a few miles of horrible rutted tracks to get there had a little play on the hill climbs certainly feeling my age now i used to fly up these like they weren't there many years ago on real crap bikes just about cutting it on the new one LOL Me having a go And my mate fucking show off LOL I think my mate has a video of me at the top of this looking down. i didn't start recording soon enough when he went up i failed on the first attempt but ok on the second Some fantastic views from the top I took the easy route back down From here we moved onto our furthest point from home through lots of deep water and ruts no photos of those bits started heading back from here on the opposite side of the valley Stopped here for a photo the clouds were rolling in over the valleys in the distance with the sun going down the photo doesn't do it justice phone couldn't cope with the sun We thought we better get a move on as the sun was going down and we were having trouble navigating because they have built a lot of access roads for the wind turbines since the last time i was here which have dead ends on them so after turning around a few times we decided to cut across country to get to where we wanted to go but came across a wire strung about 3ft off the floor, without thinking i grabs hold of it to lift it up to ride under its a bloody electric fence fuck they hurt LOL anyhow we gets to where we wanted to be The ground was as boggy as i remember and my mate gets a little stuck he says its not going anywhere I said give it some gas but he was right it wasn't going anywhere (look away now Pete) LOL took us about half hour to free it the ground just didn't want to give it up My bike waiting patiently It was a straight forward ride from here and got home just after dark i need more evenings like this7 points

It's a memorial for my father-in-law (who I was close to) so it's hard to say no. On the upside it's only 45 minutes6 points

So they had no intention of staying then Pete ? Your son sounds like a right wimp, I have a similar situation with my eldest. I haven't seen my granddaughters for nearly two years now so I really sympathise which your situation. It's worse for you and your wife though as you've had that glimmer of joy and now it looks like the fat cow will snatch it away4 points

How do you know they want them back in Poland? Since you’re posting this here, I might as well give you my advice, coming from someone with a relationship with my dad where you don’t express feelings: have a talk with your boy face to face with nobody else around! Tell him you love him and it hurts you to not see him or the kids! Make it so he at least has to acknowledge that he hears you, he might surprise you with a reply, or not. Come to him not from a position of power or disappointment, but love and understandment, and express your feelings towards the kids and how great they made you feel. You’ll be happy to do this even if you tear up, but don’t post that here or you’ll be called gay!4 points

It'll break our heart to see the little ones go.......but we can't live in an episode of the Jeremy Kyle Show. At least we got to see them after 4 years, which is more than we ever expected.3 points

After Buckster's entry, this is never going to be the same, but here it goes anyway: Pennyroyal and oregano seasoned local farmed tomato salad, plus canned horse mackerel with my garden's amazing coriander, sliced onions and the neighbor's lemon's zest, with olive oil. The result is a lot better than the sum of the parts. THE tagliatelle "cacio & pepe", first time I got it properly right. Using a very nice truffle infused pecorino romano made it extra special. Alentejo blood chorizo and tomato rice, wild rice and white rice mix with my garden's fresh coriander. One of the tastiest things I´ve made for myself. Sourdough mix pizza, at Sofia's, from the ride report thread, not exactly round but proper tasty: For @boboneleg, "Queijo da Serra", buttery sheep's cheese from the Serra da Estrela, proper cheese! Squid rice, nothing fancy, oldschool portuguese and really great! The usual, roasted codfish and potatoes, plenty of onions and garlic, a classic on a rainy night3 points

They spent last week with a very busy shop preparing bikes for their customers to take to Jerez for the weekend, so they neglected Pete because he is a brit and not going to Jerez!3 points

It's similar to a mackerel, but narrower and the taste is milder. Fish names are very confusing and regional, so I looked it up and it's latin name is "Scomber scombrus", but then when I look that up it just comes up as mackerel. It's also great as sushi and sashimi. Similar to this, often with less defined stripes:2 points

Oh, yes, and this week they had holidays so they neglected Pete because he's not a saint! and I assume they got a couple of broken bikes from revving out all weekend in Jerez...2 points
