Gave the bike a run to Castril to see what it's like on the country roads because my return from Granada on Friday was nearly all motorway. One thing I've confirmed.....that bloody big screen has got to go. It's completely disorientating with the top of the screen at eye level......don't like it at all. Apart from that it's all good.......and everybody on bikes wants to wave at me now. As if riding this bike somehow makes me more credible or something. Got stuck behind a motorcycle club rideout on the way back......you'll see in the vid why I can't ride with these people. I'll die of old age before I get home at that rate! It's like a gathering of Bruce's! Bike's all good.....far better gearbox than the 1150 which was very agricultural. Brakes are phenomenal, comfortable to ride, and handles differently to the 1150. More of a road bike type of feel. Still getting used to it, but replacing the screen or getting this one cut down is the main priority.6 points

No.1 daughters 20th birthday today so party last night in a local village hall where they all slept over (on the judo clubs tatamis I think ) then about 10 of them came round here bringing all the leftover food and drink for lunch which was fun. it was also bloody hot this afternoon and we've just had a brief but intense thunder storm go through.5 points

Very nice. NippyNormans? Know what you mean about group riding. I’ve just started to organise a ride to the french Alps and then down to Andalucia and the thing thats most niggling away in the back of my mind more than any other issue is the idea of having to ride all that way in a group at a slow pace.. torture. But theyre grown ups, I’ll give them the sat nav route and the stopping points and then after a couple of days the group should naturally split into different subgroups… I hope5 points

Ah thanks but I'm avoiding rodos, headed away from their quickish. The roads didn't take long to turn to mush though using my usual nose led adventure touring style. But after a mile or so turned into a lovely twisty mountain road. Back on the coast for a shandy and souvlaki stop. Got to remember to wipe my hands good and proper after slapping more sun tan slop on though, the grips aren't very grippy like that. But I do need lots of lotion. Pretty windy but also very sunny.4 points

He will spray it later as they use it, believe he said back to its original colour which is a slightly lighter blue than it is now. I always thought the Essex lumps were red.3 points

Well, that one came out of the left field, given your previous comments about weight, but it's how it carries that weight that makes a big difference! Anyway, enjoy it Pete and hopefully your missus can get out on pillion from time-to-time.2 points

This was the best economic news i could find. “The latest China lockdowns combined with the Russia-Ukraine war is too heavy a burden. “The global chaos is going to further exacerbate disruption and take inflation to a new level.”2 points

Woke up to a thunderstorm and high winds and rain, braved some rain to go to my mechanic and change oils, there I saw an old Kawasaki and a pretty red bike. I like that Ducati, too , it's a 999S. It turned supper sunny and hot by end of morning, so rode home slowly with my helmet open through some lovely Porto streets, felt like having a nice snack somewhere but the place was crowded with tourists on terraces and I decided to skip catching covid and went home instead. Now with a bit of bother from my allergic sinus, so will stay cool and fresh inside until Costa wakes up and starts behind to go chase some bitches2 points

Looks like the same top box I've got. Saving it for when I get a second bike for a bit more mileage.1 point

By that age folk are only doing what they want to do, pretty cool that an 80year old woman wants to go to a classic car show.1 point

Rode to my parents' today, instead of doing it in 2,5 hours on the motorway I took a long way. Left home in 27º heat and sunshine, the kind of sunshine that makes it feel like 35º, stopped for lunch at my favourite cafe forgetting it closes on Mondays. As soon as I crossed the hills and went to the shore temperatures dropped. Back home it was about 32º by lunch time but here, a few kms north as well it was 21º and feeling a bit chill. I did hop on the Motorway for a while to make distance but quickly got off and went to visit Cape Mondego, about halfway between Porto and Lisbon on the shore. The views are more impressive without the mist, this is a place of big beaches: Not a lot of effort put into the stone signaling the status of these forests being declared protected Rode down the nice (in forest and trees, not surface) forest roads closer to the lighthouse, out of my way completely but I like a nice lighthouse. Tried a little dirt road with a view to take a picture of the lighthouse from above, it was only a few meters from the proper road, not a big adventure: From there on, I headed north on pretty lame and boring roads, stopping by the other lighthouse to have a pretty shitty ham and cheese toast for lunch. How someone can fuck up a ham and cheese toast is beyond me, but it can be done. Felt like a trip instead of a commute, balanced the extra mileage with less money on motorway tolls which is always nice.1 point
