  11. Threw me off with your hints for it not being European since they say there it's made in the UK, and for you not having something in the class or have you sold the BMW? I like how it looks from the rear, it's a nice clean rear fender with proper lights. Pretty wheels too. Edit: they say it's designed in the UK, so BSA is Indian?

  12. Well I’m excited about it. I don’t think I’ll have any trouble moving it on if I’m not taken with it.

  14. The write ups are good but bike journos fawn over almost everything don’t they, they have to or no-one would give them a bike to review https://www.motorcyclenews.com/amp/news/new-bikes/2022-bsa-gold-star/

  17. I have trouble staying in slow mode and like a good bit of bhp. The problem I have is that although they can be ridden slowly it only takes one overtake or squirt to pull into a gap in the traffic and boom I’m no longer in genteel mode. The bike lifts, your internal organs feel briefly weightless, your hearts in your mouth and a cackle comes from somewhere deep inside that makes you wonder if your related to the devil, its not something I can resist. So it’s a Sunny Sunday afternoon bike for a chilled bimble. Bought on looks alone. Could be a complete donkey. If it is it’ll make a good piece of art.

  21. My black neighbour moved out yesterday, I shall miss her, she had the fine art of parking just right so I could get my bike out of my garage without moving my car first. Where as the Polish family there before her parked so far over they were sometimes in front of my own garage door and partly on my drive. This later turned out to be because he had a motorbike to get out of his garage to go to work at 4am. It was a Honda and broke down a lot so in the end he moved to be closer to London. Now who do I vote for to get a new neighbour with decent parking skills?

  22. Should be the whole of the U.K. voting to end the current government system including getting rid of the House of Lords and demanding a system of regional devolution and national proportional representation.

  23. Just a short 40 miles ride as I needed to be back home by 11.00 am. So the first thing I needed to get used to was riding a bike with a 19'' front wheel again, once I got used to that it was plain sailing. It has decent power for an air-cooled 803cc twin, brakes are adequate, suspension is firm without being harsh and the handling is sublime. I'd heard about problems finding neutral but I didn't have any great problem, the bars are a bit of a reach so I've pulled them back slightly and I may add a one inch riser. It must have been re-mapped by the previous owner to match the Leo Vince silencer (cat is gone) but fuckmine is it loud Anyway, I did a variety of roads and a very short bit of motorway and I like it. It has attitude (definitely isn't boring) and It's drop dead gorgeous imo. and a coffee at the Portishead marina on the way home ..........

  26. I've made no secret of the fact that I love this bike! If you look at the specs on paper it doesn't look up to much (same could be said for the Strom as well).....but the reality is actually very different. I'm no journo (what you say Mawsley?) so I'll just list out how I find it. And below my points is a short vid review by Neevesy at MCN.....who is a very highly respected bike journo! So here's my opinion..... Ultra smooth quiet motor, effortless slipper clutch, handling and brakes are very good, and perfect ergonomics when you sit on it, The build quality is excellent with very thick and wide handlebars which you don't have to reach forward for! Initially they didn't feel particularly high, but once you get used to them it's actually a perfect riding position. It's a couple of kg heavier than the 650GS but it feels lighter and physically smaller. Which is a benefit if you're not as young as you were. Very easy to balance when stationary. It's tractable and is quite happy at 60kph/37mph in sixth gear (showing 2.1L per 100km fuel consumption) without any lugging, and will then pull well from that point with a very linear power delivery. People will say it's only 48bhp so it's slow! Well "slow" is a very subjective thing! It actually feels like it has more bhp than that. It's certainly far quicker than any of my XT's and is probably on a par (or a bit quicker) than the G650GS. And with a fuel consumption of 70-90mpg it's cheap motorcycling. Now if you want a bike with character and a bit of excitement then it's not for you. It's just a typical Honda......somewhat soulless and very practical, but you just know you can trust it with your life! Total peace of mind! I'll be honest with you, I'd virtually given up all hope of finding a bike that was exactly what I wanted. If I wanted to keep riding I thought I'd just have to get by with the best alternative I could find.......and then I came across the CB500X. If you're an older rider downsizing due to age then this is the bike for you. You're not going to impress people with this, and you're not going to turn any heads or have people coming up admiring it. But you'll get where you want to go comfortably, with no fuss or drama! And it won't cost you a fortune to do it either! The reality of it is that this bike will probably outlive nearly everybody on this forum. Over to Neevesy.....does he disagree?

  27. Very underestimated bikes @XTreme, a mate of mine dies a fair bit of off road riding including competing in the last Hellas Rally with Torque Racing and he likes them, especially when you add some of the Rally Raid UK kit. I could be tempted when I get to your age.

  28. The tank is 3.65 gallons so approx 16.4 litres. That's enough for about 130 miles before reserve which is just about when I'd be wanting to stop for a coffee
