Just supervised the boy taking his battery off his car to put it on charge its his first mechanical job he's just about to turn 19. Got me to thinking about what i had done by that age. At the age of 13 i had made two working models of stationary steam engines in a night school at Merthyr technical college and fitted a mono shock to the rear of my old grifter pushbike at 15 i was working on my old mans VW T2 split screen, i had cut off rotten sills and outriggers rear corners and welded on new ones, the outriggers i manufactured from sheet metal from scratch bending and forming to fit (wish i finished that project but gave up) at 16 i stripped and rebuilt a DT175 engine and various bikes of my mates, at 17 i converted a CB100N into a XL125 with big suspension wrote it off then cloned a KX125 into it, by his age i had built my 400 chop and rebuilt a robin reliant engine twice and cloned one by making a good i mean working one out of the two i'm sure there's more , so was i the only one tinkering like this.6 points

Motor GP Sunday. At some point this weekend I'll be dragging the toolbox out of the way to get the dominator in and the CBF and the tracer out. I'm off to the Isle of Wight Monday and Mandi will be following on Friday. So Tuesday to Friday I'll be on foot walking around the island, weather permitting. I don't mind a bit of water and I gather it's raining Monday on the way down but getting a soaking isn't my idea of a good time. There could be pubs involved. Daughters birthday on the Wednesday but her partners talking her to the main land for a surprise. We'll both travel home again bank holiday Monday. Edit. Also, I've got a xr450 in the garden as It won't start. I've now got a spark and also moved the valve timing as the owner had it a tooth out after replacing some valves. Prob is I hurt my back kicking it over and really can't be arsed to try again.5 points

I dug a tunnel when Pa was staioned at Southern Command, a tractor drove over it and it caved in trapping the tractor. I won that one. We used to find mortors on guam, we; d throw threm off a cliff to see which ones still worked, i remember "finding" a 250cc two stoke motor and we put it in a mini bike frame, no brakes. Collecting liZard tails while at Edwards in california was neet, the SR 71 taking off was boring to me....nothing like a real honest to god childhood, oh yea we rode in the bed of grandpas studabaker pickup, weeee!4 points

I worked in my dad's TV repair shop during the school holidays repairing TVs at 14 years old. Started work as an electronics apprentice aged 16 (just). Rebuilt the engine on my T120 Bonneville multiple times from age 18. But, TBF, engines were a lot easier to work on then than they are now.3 points

So far the trails were really dry , yes it's been dry for a long time but we have had some big storms over the past couple of days so I was a bit surprised. And then I came across this................ But that was it as far as flooding was concerned and the weather was great if a tad breezy. Now I started to head south but near Chedworth I swung around quickly as I saw a photo opportunity in a field ..............3 points

I wanted to give the donkey a run today to check on the mods I'd done to her since coming back from France. So I rode up to Castle Combe and started riding trails at Summer Lane............ Onto the Fosseway at Fossegate and then through Norton and onto Gorsey Leaze where I stopped at the bench to have a coffee........... and the view of the Kings Heath from the bench............. The I went to look at a new (to me) lane that is an access route for the main London-Bristol railway ................ Just up the road I came across this old church at Startley................2 points

I rode on through the Somerfords and up to Brinkworth. I went in the motorcycle shop up there just to have a nose as they had a Mash 650 in there. It looks pretty good in the flesh The next lane was Ravensroost where I got a few 'stares' from a couple of dog owners, hey ho ............... Last night when I was looking at the maps to decide where to ride I found a UCR (Unclassified County Road) that used to run across the airfield at Fairford before it was built. Further investigation on google earth revealed that it still ran up to the perimeter fence. Now in the past I have delivered ordnance to RAF Fairford and it used to be a total ball ache so I was a bit apprehensive about getting a tug from security or the old bill but I rode up there anyway. It turned to be no problem at all and I even got to see a B52 parked up on a side runway............. I hung around for a while but didn't want to push my luck so I set off for a couple of lanes that I hadn't done for quite a few years, This one is near Poulton................ and this one comes out onto Akeman Street which is one of the roman roads leading to Cirencester................2 points

This is fucked up, talking to Antman, a truck driver who lived with him here on layovers died on the West coast from an overdose, and his dogs are now missing, FFS. Dogs dont deserve that kind of life. I just was chatting with the guy the other week we were going to do radio checks around town using my bike, we never got to it.2 points

I wanted cold so left at 0430. 6C was great to begin with. Then I stopped to put a sweater on. Ok for a while, then it got foggy. Bloody cold and damp, but far better than sweating my nuts off during the day!2 points

I little while ago everyone was talking about getting a Ukrainian, some sort of toy dog like a Pomeranian I assume. You don't hear about that so much now, I expect they've moved on to the next pet fad. Mark my words, the dog homes are probably rammed with unwanted Ukranians now, bargains to be had if you're in the market.1 point
