Yes i started off using the old mans tools but after a big argument about me leaving his stuff all over the place and him not believing it wasn't me i ended up buying my own tools, I always thought it was my eldest brother that was to blame but after leaving home for a few years and being in his workshop which is still a mess i am now convinced it was the old man not us6 points

Once I got up to the Whiteway (another roman road leading to Cirencester) I passed the flying corps entrance but noticed that one of the Bi-planes was out so I did a swift about turn to go and see............... They were just strapping a young lady down as she was going to do some wing-walking for charity ................ From there I rode down to some lanes near Dalingworth .............. and then back down the Fosseway to head for home.......... When I got to the ford I was really surprised to see that the council had done some great work to stop the 4x4's from destroying the area which had been going on for a couple of years, it was good to see............ I had a chat with a cyclist there and she took a video of me riding through, thank god I kept it upright . It was a great day out and bike behaved faultlessly , there is lot to be said for using original equipment5 points

Me and my older brother Tim have always pulled things to bits to put back together again. Started with push bikes and went on from there. We used to go down all the back ways to people houses to see what dead electricals, push bikes and motorbikes were there and very often they'd let us have them. Used to visit the tip on a regular basis too. TVs we'd palm off around the family but the best bike parts would be swopped onto our own bikes. Motorbikes we'd get going a rag around the local corn fields. Had my first car at 13 from a relative, "if you can get it off the drive it's yours". Had to sell off some bikes etc to keep petrol in it. None of this would of happen without dads tool kit and him allowing us to just get on with it.4 points

The scoreboard had 4 floors, we used to wait until the scoreboard master ?? walked down to change the wickets on the second floor and we'd sneak up and change the score4 points

Clearly, I won’t be out on either of my bikes. Instead I’ll be moaning and generally mooching about with my bottom lip dragging on the floor. I did consider getting a two wheel fix on the mountain bike but it’s far too hot.4 points

I started spannering pretty early on, me a dad rebuilt a '74 reliant Scimitar se5a started it when I was around 11 finished it nearly by time I was coming up to 13. Was working on my dad's '85 mg metro from maybe 10 setting valve clearances and servicing, doing the brakes So my spannering days started very early and I wish cars were still that easy to work on unlike the shite you get these days4 points

We got into that too. Shame is Dad sold a lot of them as he was off work and bringing us troublesome lot up. He had some cracking stuff, just tools to us back then.3 points

I wanted to give the donkey a run today to check on the mods I'd done to her since coming back from France. So I rode up to Castle Combe and started riding trails at Summer Lane............ Onto the Fosseway at Fossegate and then through Norton and onto Gorsey Leaze where I stopped at the bench to have a coffee........... and the view of the Kings Heath from the bench............. The I went to look at a new (to me) lane that is an access route for the main London-Bristol railway ................ Just up the road I came across this old church at Startley................3 points

That'll be someone having a break from the hotel. She won't be there now, the whole street is behind a hoarding. If you roll down to Folgate Street a few yards away you can see Dennis Sever's house, it's the one with the red shutters. I'd like to visit it, but last time I looked I thought it was a bit expensive. The next street along has Dan Cruickshank living in it. We are going to have to lay the sets and paving back down with him watching over us. I think he first squatted there in the 70s to stop them all being bulldozed and now owns one. https://goo.gl/maps/mnc1ZvwwpZkWSrej6 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_Severs'_House3 points

Am I right in thinking this is an article on a bike that basically was just painted black with some bronze details and they're calling it a custom bike? Killer Mike!3 points

So far the trails were really dry , yes it's been dry for a long time but we have had some big storms over the past couple of days so I was a bit surprised. And then I came across this................ But that was it as far as flooding was concerned and the weather was great if a tad breezy. Now I started to head south but near Chedworth I swung around quickly as I saw a photo opportunity in a field ..............3 points

I rode on through the Somerfords and up to Brinkworth. I went in the motorcycle shop up there just to have a nose as they had a Mash 650 in there. It looks pretty good in the flesh The next lane was Ravensroost where I got a few 'stares' from a couple of dog owners, hey ho ............... Last night when I was looking at the maps to decide where to ride I found a UCR (Unclassified County Road) that used to run across the airfield at Fairford before it was built. Further investigation on google earth revealed that it still ran up to the perimeter fence. Now in the past I have delivered ordnance to RAF Fairford and it used to be a total ball ache so I was a bit apprehensive about getting a tug from security or the old bill but I rode up there anyway. It turned to be no problem at all and I even got to see a B52 parked up on a side runway............. I hung around for a while but didn't want to push my luck so I set off for a couple of lanes that I hadn't done for quite a few years, This one is near Poulton................ and this one comes out onto Akeman Street which is one of the roman roads leading to Cirencester................3 points

And yes a GPS that worked with google maps like a phone would be superb, if you find one let me know. I got back and said if Garmin and Google could have baby and put it on a dedicated motorcycle sat nav that would be perfect.2 points

The Zumo XT has the bright screen, weather resistance, easy to follow instructions and can plan more interesting bike routes ('Adventure Route') but like you say limited database, its not intuitive in the same way as google maps and is slightly slow to respond to data input which isnt a biggy but it feels laggy. You can set it to show petrol stations, restaurants etc it has tripadvisor and foursquare on it (which contains airb&b & points of interest) and it links to your phone if you want to see txts/calls etc It also works easily with your gloves on. I made a concerted effort to get to grips with it on my last jolly and found it faster to search google, mark the Garmin map and navigate to that mark. Using co-ordinates from google would be the way to go but there are different co-ordinate formats and Garmin and Googles are different. This can apparently be changed in settings but I havent got that far yet. Some people link their second phone to their main phone so no need for a second SIM card and messages/calls then show but this doesnt fix the temperamental weather issues or the bright sunlight problem. I believe the Tomtom Go is google compatible but I don't know if its robust/weatherproof as its not specifically designed for motorbikes. Overall I love the clear easy instructions on the Zumo XT, the super bright screen and how robust its been, after a frustrating start with it I think its worth persevering with BUT this didn't stop me pulling over and checking google maps a couple of times for that last tiny bit when Garmin said I'd arrived and I hadn't. I bought mine updated it and left for Spain expecting it to work like google maps, it was soon abandoned on that first trip because on unknown roads in a different country your concentration needs to be on where you're riding not trying to fathom out what the GPS is doing. What I found very helpful while getting used to the Zumo was to have both the Zumo XT and the phone on the bars, it soon became apparent the Zumo's directions, display (speed limits etc) and (split screen showing which lane etc) was vastly superior to the overcrowded Google maps layout. If you go for a separate GPS like the Zumo XT I'd advise getting it well in advance, the data update takes FOREVER and getting to grips with its foibles takes time.2 points

What Fred said , I love the challange of a ford. The one in the video was easy (as you hear my mate Tony say ) The ford on the Fosseway (the one that's just been repaired in the photos above) used to have a sign on it showing that the correct route for vehicles was via the ford. The bridge on the side is for pedestrians and cyclists.2 points
-
I wouldn't call it a fascination more of a challenge for me and sometimes its a long diversion if you don't go through. Its not flooded its a ford a road that crosses a river with no bridge quite common on small roads here2 points

It could well be that, Suzuki looms definitely deteriorate over time. That was usually the reason for selling my DR350's, mostly it was rot at the connectors. Check all the electrical connectors, give the wires a slight tug on all of them.2 points
-
No mate, no spark whatsoever despite fitting new plugs, coil and HT leads, new cdi and checked the stator is working. Going to get an electrical expert to check the whole wiring loom thoroughly. I’m wondering if the thirty odd year old loom is earthing out somewhere. I’m clutching at straws now.2 points
