  1. Decided it was time for a ride this afternoon. Short of ideas as towhere to go so fired up the pootah, opened Kurviger, programmed "twisty route", then "Circuit" andturned the heading arrow just eastof North and hit "Go". it came up with this 170 something km's, so I transferred that to the phone and off I went. it was a pretty varied ride landscape wise, from the vinyards above, through woods and forest How french is this?! and across arable lowlands. All pretty dry at the moment but the trees are still green. Unstable weather here today, about 27 c and high humidity. fairly dominant cloud cover but no rain. Good to be out on the bike again.

  2. I went down to Castril and I couldn't believe what I saw! Bear in mind I was there three months ago on the 1200GS.......but since then the water level in the reservoir has plummeted. I've been going there since 2005 and there's land areas showing now that never existed before. I'm the last one to call for rain but this is getting really serious now! Bike looking pretty decent......new tyre is great! Parked up by the side of the reservoir and a guy was there on a Versys 650 (wearing a Honda jacket )......and he couldn't believe how much the water had dropped either. Filled up with petrol on the way back.......it took €8. Which is all I've used going to Baza (70 miles) and Castril today (40 miles). 110 miles for €8.......must be around 80mpg I'd have thought. This bike (despite having it's detractors) suits me just fine! I love it! The 650GS was easy to ride and cheap on fuel......but this thing way surpasses that! The slipper clutch is amazing! And ultimately I've got a lot more peace of mind with a Honda than with a BMW! And for someone as inept as I am that's a big thing!

  3. Well I did 470 miles over the weekend, slept two nights under canvas, drank beer and whisky and whiskey, had lunch with a beautiful woman, made some new friends and now I’m home changing the oil on the bike. I’m a fucking legend, you lot need to respect my authority.

  13. Yes i see the boys changing batteries regular on a ride, the Drift seems to be a much better design for helmet mounting than the go pro to me. Although the chin attachment has to be the most unobtrusive location anywhere else makes you look like a teletubby

  15. I always thought it was their answer to the Strom......but why the 17" wheel? Same goes for the Tracer.......I'd have bought one of those if it had a 19" wheel. 17" wheels don't suit the way I ride.....no idea why, and the reality is that I don't actually know how I ride. All I know is it don't feel right to me in the way the bike handles.

  23. I don’t think it did look like that, no ground clearance, an exhaust underneath, and a fairly short wheelbase. On the other hand, I’ve seen one fitted with 17 inch dual purpose tires that was used to ride the Dalton highway up to Alaska.

  27. Take note @XTreme Had a delivery half hour ago it was this tubeless repair kit Find the hole and file it out with the supplied tool Then insert this thingy Insert this pre lubed rubber mushroom into the applicator tool Screw applicator tool to thingy in the tyre and screw handle all the way in Once screwed in pull thingy out of tyre leaving mushroom behind Pull mushroom to make sure the head is tight to the inside of the tyre Cut off excess with supplied knife just fixed a puncture in the rear of the Beta in less than 10 minutes and that included unpacking the kit its so easy no glue or mess. Pete when you get your top box fitted get one of these kits and an electric pump you may have to leave some of your DMB torture kit behind though. I run a Mousse in the tyre but I've made it air tight to keep out the crap and the idea was if the moose fails i can pump the tyre up and ride it home

  29. No worries in Morocco, just stop at the first Inwi (which is the provider with absolutely best coverage nationwide) shop and you'll get a card with plenty of data and even some international calls to Europe for something like 10 or 15 Euros, cheaper than here. The dude will set it up, get paid in cash, no invoice, and you're away, no need for speaking languages or any complicated stuff. I wondered if I'd run out the next day as it seemed too easy and unofficial to me, but has worked flawlessly 4 times now using two different shops.

  33. They are homemade beans. I don't know what happened to Heinz, I think they removed too much salt and sugar and added water to make them healthy and ruined them in the process. I use a variety of beans, often haricot beans and always smoked paprika, garlic, and onion salt in mine (and sometimes diced chorizo), cook them long and slow the day before you want to eat them so the flavours fuse and the beans are properly cooked out. Most baked beans are barely cooked and they take a long time to do properly which is why they often taste a bit gack. My family also do not like normal beans but they love these. Technically they're hob beans not baked
