Hand guards work even better with heated grips i can get away with summer gloves almost 12 months of the year I use the MITs as well if got a trip away a I think its going to rain3 points

I have the RE engine guards from RE and they’re petty good for stretching your legs on on extended rides The hand guards I’ve not bothered with but am changing my mind. Apart from a dumbass gluing a grip weirdly that caused a clutch issue, Today I’ve finished riding my Himalayan to n from Andalucia for the fourth time with no problem. Is been a delight. Just does what it does the unobtrusive way it likes to.3 points

Only the Belgians to pimp out a fish! People don't realize how loud some fish can bubble, though. I used to hear Fish, my fish, bubble through the night2 points

Oh so illegal. The dimensions for a UK number plate lettering and board size is very specific, it’s points n fine worthy of breached. If it’s a private plate (ie not the number originally assigned at registration) your purchased plate reg is simply on loan to you and breaching the plate law can see your plate reg taken back! In reality you can minimise the size of the plate (the large yellow backing part) and keep the letters to the legal size without it obviously making a difference to the appearance while still improving the aesthetics If you change the colours, font or size of type face you’re asking for it! ps the rules are different for vintage bikes!2 points

I remember back in the day you could get smaller rear plates for bikes in UK, is that still a thing or illegal now. No strong feelings about it just a passing thought I had today.1 point

If you're showing your license plate numbers anyway, why risk getting a ticket? If you want to avoid cameras and stuff like that, on weekends the tape over the plate thing or national flag tied from blinker to blinker is still common here for people riding fast on motorways. No use for those on a Royal Enfield, obviously, as the only place they can speed through is a school zone.1 point

Heated grips work well, but if you're using proper winter gloves they'll also isolate your palms from the grips. I would go for heated gloves or heated mitts if commuting in proper cold.1 point

Good to know. First time I have had a longer commuting to do on a bike, 32 miles. Always be less than 10 miles before so not time to get really cold in the winter.1 point

I had the idea to mount some spotlights to the crash bars, which I may or may not do, just thinking. Not to worried about getting 3 point ones as I don't see myself doing any serious off roading to need that. Regarding the hand guards, a chap I work with has them on his Vstrom and swears by them for the winter. We were chatting about heated grips and he said to try hand guards first. I like them so far, but I also have some Oxford Rhino mitts that I bought for another bike that I never used, that I can try. Thats good to hear about your Himalayan, I know its early days but I am chuffed to bits with mine.1 point

Yeah they are RE ones. The only attach at one point so not for throwing over on really but they keep the wind and wet off your hands. I got them from India on ebay half the price you pay here. They came in a RE box and had the RE part numbers and Hologram on them so they see legit. Just ordered some RE crash bars from the same guy.1 point

used to watch the miss wet t shirt competition at the palace Lido in the isle of man and we got our beer in four pint jugs that kept us going for a bit1 point

Always liked the wet T shirt competition at the bike rallies sadly gone from most but there some fun loving girls that will still do it. I remember the chopper club rally we put on just outside Cardiff in the late 80's we had a wet t shirt competition there as most rallies did then, but to make it more interesting the club payed for a stripper to enter with the girls but didn't tell them, the competition was going well until the stripper whipped her knickers off the rest of the girls looked at her and said fuck that and left the stage to the stripper she started inserting bananas and things into certain places and throwing them to the crowd a memory burnt into a green as fuck 18 year olds head i'll never forget LOL1 point
