Went for a little bimble around and ended up in Beziers. It was all kicking off on the one-way system. There had been a minor shunt on the other side of the island to where I was, but the Gendarmes had a guy in an armlock in the road on my side. There were Gendarmes in cars and on bikes coming in from all directions! When I went past the guy was in the back of one of the cars and there was a lot of arm waving and pointing from the swarm of Gendarmes there! Anyway, it was cloudy and cool for the ride, but at least it wasn't raining. Wore my Hood jeans, but realised when I got home that I have actually got some lined winter bike trousers! Oh well, I'll try to remember them for next time!7 points

Out again with the ginger fella. Walked to Spit Beach and did about 6k. Saw the Mrs’s Cousin in his train at Par docks on the way. Never far from a relative in Cornwall. Bloody nice down Spit but cold. The Dear Boy had trouble with his ears in the wind. That concrete structure is a WW2 relic. When I was a kid we were often taken to Spit Beach. The local folk lore was because there was nowhere to spend money there, so a cheap day out for the parents. No ice creams or buckets and spades to buy. Reality was probably because it was quieter during the holiday season as you can only get the on foot. Holibobs never used to walk back then. Can’t move for the feckers now.7 points

I've had it so long i cant remember the start of it LOL. I think it was a sore throat, felt like it had closed up which led to aches and pains with cold shivers then sweats and a blocked up nose and a total lack of energy. That all turned into a phlegmy chest with a cough which i still have with a runny nose and the aches are back today but that might be because i worked 14 hours today. all started around Friday before Christmas.4 points

All infectious cold/flu/covid virus' travel the same way so it's no more likely to be flu than Covid. The current level of infections has been building at a rate of knots since beginning November so by now we are all going to be sharing the same diseases. Only a PCR would determine if it's definitely Covid and they're not being offered anymore (unless you pay ). Proper flu will see someone knocked on their arse (or worse) for up to six weeks with a minimum of two weeks feeling like they might die (or would like to), following that there's post viral fatigue that can take months to get over fully. Proper flu is no walk in the park and Covid is an even bigger killer so be happy you're jabbed Most people who say they've had flu haven't experienced the real deal. It savages people. At this point doesn't really matter which it is, Covid is part of the Coronavirus (cold) virus' and you need to apply the same level of care to yourself whichever it is. Coughing is ok from a medical pov but if it effects your breathing adversely (ie you can't enough O2 in when rested) get help. Kraken rum.. yum.4 points

Well my missus was very poorly for about three weeks and we did a Covid test to make sure and it was negative. She never, ever complains about colds etc and honestly has the highest pain threshold (clearly as she’s been with me 19 years). Shes only just started to feel better after about four and a bit weeks. I had a bit of cold but mine was much worse than hers.4 points

Oh yeh.....I know exactly what you mean Clive. As I said, I've had flu many times.......I even had Mumps when I was 26. And that can be very serious for adults! But I've never experienced anything like this.......and I've still got a long way to go in terms of recovery.4 points

I too have had (proper) flu in the past and this was nothing like.......was starting to worry that it was something more serious. Over it now...but it took its time in shifting.4 points

@Clive was on the government website looking at the 'access to work' stuff (there maybe some useful conference support tech available for deafy's) when I saw this. Back in 2012 Ofcom decided that as technology had moved on and smartphones were everywhere there should be a decent free relay service. You download an app and whoever rings goes via Relay who type the conversation in real time. For example if someone rang wanting you to make an appointment, rather than your wife having to be there Relay type whats being said and you just say whatever in reply. I know it's likely you've already moved into 'text me' only mode but thought you might like to know. Could be useful. https://www.relayuk.bt.com4 points

I still like the dark chocolate Bounty (not the milk version). Used to have one after work almost everyday on the grounds the coconut content would help prevent a sugar crash I used to eat a lot of chocolate, really I still do. My brother came into the hospital looking for me once and asked the porter my whereabouts forgetting my surname had changed and using my maiden name. After a brief description of my appearance the porter said “Oh you mean the chocolate girl” he laughed and said “Yeah that’ll be her” I cut down eating so much junk after that Well sort of, I’d buy some chocolate on my way into work so they didn’t see my face pressed up against the vending machine quite so often4 points

I slept a bit better last night but I did wake up a few times when I either coughed or twisted. Having said that, I could go back to sleep now.4 points

I like Bounty, in chocolate bar and icecream version too. Haven’t bought one in years though. To be honest I’d rather have pistachios or cashews than sweets if feeling like a snack like that.4 points
