  2. Been for a walk lunchtime with Paolo. We walked over Conham Vale and past the the Swan ........ and then over the playing fields to get to the panoramic walk ................ and then down the path through the woods to get to the river ............ The river looks in good condition at the moment , it's dropped about 12 foot from the level it was when in flood two weeks ago ................. This guy appreciated the better conditions as he landed a nice Chub while we there, he'd caught eight that morning all on worms ........

  8. As far as i'm aware the boiler recycles the hot exhaust gases it produces when heating the water so it uses less gas making it more efficient. when the gases cool they produce water that drains to the sewer, as i have found out it cannot be made of metal as the water is corrosive. On my house the only way i could run the pipe was across my kitchen roof into the guttering which then goes to the sewer but it is susceptible to freezing which mine had done so it was running over the roof tiles instead of through the pipe. fixing this is what highlighted the corroded pipe in the boiler cupboard god knows how long it has been leaking definitely months rather than weeks. Its only a drip so has taken a long time to show up in the house as we never go in the boiler cupboard unless there's a problem

  11. Stunning little chap, you can see the trouble in him though. I have had 5 JRT's over the years and if the house was quiet you had to be very suspicious as the really bad stuff went on when it was quiet.

  16. Walked from Cowes to Newport and back today along an old railway track now cycle path. As usual not much to take a pic of but did find this old kiln site. Last time here I never spotted this but guessing it was hidden by the leave which are now everywhere other than where they should be.

  22. Walking to Newport with the daughter and Matt (Sam’s partner), goes on the bus and has his driving lesson. All on the bus if it’s raining. Prob spend the day there before heading back to Cowes for an early ish bed ready for the trip home tomorrow. Mandis still having fun in Singapore but she’s having an extra day sight seeing before the long flight back. She’s 8 hours ahead of our time so communications not been good, adding to the fact the vessel she’s on is having a lot of connection probs. Wi-Fi especially, been slowing their progress down since she got there.

  34. My day hasn't gone as planned, what i thought was going to be a few hours work replacing the condense pipe has turned into 6 hours so far and i'm still not done, looks like the condense water likes to consume more than copper I've had to replace half a dozen of the artificial slate tiles on the roof as well, all the ones that have had the condense water on just crumble to nothing in your hands. Having a bit of grub at the moment while the trace heating warms up so i'ts a bit easier to dress along the condense pipe
