  1. We went on a couple of snow shoe walks on our few days away in the Cevennes. Bloody hard work, especially in the fresh soft snow!

  2. A roaring crowd of about 25 people on hand to watch the girl's team play. It's sunny out today - although cold - I could be out doing other things....

  6. We drove to Salford today and walked the old Midland line which is now a cycle/foot path from Bristol to Bath When we got to the to the Avon riverside halt we stopped for a coffee from the flask ............. I loved this sticker that I found on the bridge ....................... Unfortunately when we got to the pub by the river it was closed so we had to make do with cheesy chips sat in the car .............

  7. Sofia’s very portuguese tomato and pea rice, pork with mustard sauce, and balsamic caramelised shalots. A perfectly comforting and tasty dinner.

  9. No, it has about a kilometre of track, plus a section running alongside the entry road, it's just a very small private museum run on the farmer's own land. I had it to myself for about an hour and a half, then about 4 people turned up for a quick trip along the line. The only downside is it is near Burnham on Crouch which is home of the Burnham bends I kept hearing about for years (which are not all that). So I passed about 40 bikes coming the other direction all nodding like mad at me, must be manic during the summer rather than a chilly February Saturday.

  16. I think I might have over egged that story the two guys I was talking about were farmers sons (brothers), no doubt there was money there and their dad did pay for their bikes but they worked on the farm from a young age, and certainly weren't the entitled type. But on the other side their Dad also let his sons and a whole group of their friends ride in a wood on his land, twas bloody idyllic really. Really rugby killed that past time for a lot of us, when we got older and graduated to the first team none of us had much time for off roading anymore.

  18. Today’s first dish for dinner was an amazing carrot salad with spices and orange juice dressing, and fresh sausage meatballs. I just finished that and it was delicious. Next it’s a Portuguese staple, Caldo Verde, perfect soup for a late dinner at the end of a cold day.

  24. WTF! That’s not cool, there’s a poor old XTreme that doesn’t register here because someone uses his name So turns out everyone has been using fake names, I feel like I don’t know anyone anymore. I’m Pedro in real life, but you can call me Batman on here if you want.

  27. My mother visited her sister in the USA (Iowa)....dad was invited too but he turned down the chance to go, for what reason? he never said. He was a man of his time.....we have photos of him on the East Coast wearing a sports jacket, collar and tie.....if it was warm he would remove the tie even on the colliery fishing matches he wore the same gear... If he went to Skeggy he would get the car checked over at the garage before the journey.........but it was a Moggy Traveller.

  32. Food shop and got the multi band gig on again tonight. After dealing with a hangover, Mandis taking me to the pictures to watch the new Avatar film. Then round No 2 sons to see the grandkids and have a Sunday roast stuck in front of us. Weathers not to bad here being dry and close to double figures but no time for bikes this weekend.

  33. Mine is similar, when I was a kid my aunt May & uncle Fred (Frederick was his full name) use to look after me after I finished at school till my mum came home, my brother said you are getting more like uncle Fred each day, so he called me Fred and the rest of the family did the same.. When Pete started this forum he said I would have to use my correct name as there is already a Fred on here.

I kind of am a bit of one now and I’m not sure how much financial support you can offer before you’re turning your kids into privileged aholes?! Obviously no support as they flounder their way out the gates into reality is just mean but wheres the line?
