I was shivering on my way in to work this morning. My new jacket liner is not as good as the old liner it replaced, so I'm swapping that back over. I had the heated grips on, my 2 fingered gloves and my big handguards and my hands were still a little bit cold.5 points

Yep, also a collection of portraits of his mistress. The worst one was of his parents naked and disemboweled. There was a dark side to him for sure. On the tour you go through 3 rooms he decorated psychedelicly in the 1960's, they are pretty trippy and to be honest I thought more vandalism than decoration.5 points

I am not on allopurinol at the moment, I just get prescribed Colchicine when I have a bout of gout . I think it is probably time I go and have a chat with my Dr about allopurinol again, the last time we talked about it he thought that I wasn't getting the gout regularly enough to warrant it. Not feeling that great in general so going to make the time to go and see him. Thanks for the reply5 points

Hi Bob, and welcome in. I agree with almost everything @Motobiker said in his post ( except the bit about northern France being uninteresting, but this is not the question here). In your case get off the ferry or the chunnel and hoon down the A26 avoiding Paris like the plague, to Reims or even Troyes, depening on your timings and how long you can ride in a day ( Calais troyes is about 4 or 5 hours depending on speed and stopping time. A second day to get from Troyes to Morzine, again 5 hours actual saddle time, autoroute to Bourg en Bresse and then take the D979 to Nantua, D1084 to Bellegarde, D1206 as far as St Julien en Genevois. Pop back onto the autoroute A40 in order to bypass Geneva ( there's no other easy way round and it avoids going into switzerland and allows you to make some ground fast) off the A40 at Cluses to follow the D902 up to Morzine> from there you pick up the route de grands alpes. I know that part of the country well, and love it. OR the bearing from Troyes to Morzine is about 139deg true, grab a map and a compass and away ye go I can't really advise on lodgings as many will have changed sice I was regularly down that way, but as Motobiker says there are plenty apps to find hostels, hotels, campsites, whatever. Have fun! I'm about an hour and a half from anywhere between Troyes and Dijon, if you need anything give us a shout.4 points

Managed to locate and fit said thermostat today. Should have took a pic but the car's now holding temp as it should. Don't matter how long your been doing a trade, you're still learning. Especially with the German suff, never too complicated. Bloody gagging to get out on the bike now, brother in law needs to get back to work so I can get 3 bikes in the house MOTed.4 points

Honestly mate I think the Honda will be all I need, but probably best to never say never. if that makes any sense. I want to build a new shed for bike stuff, to save the house being cluttered with all the paraphernalia that bikes cause and I may get a small trails type bike to live in it. I have this 10ft x 10ft concrete base I cast years ago for the kids to have pools on in the summer months. Would make a perfect base for a bike shed. Especially if I built the shed a bit taller with loft space and insulated it. It’s right out side the back door so very convenient and I could add a covered area to park my bike in.4 points

No it was 3 months old when I bought it, had 700 or 800 miles on it, can't remember exactly. I had originally intended to keep it for a year and trade up once I got my confidence back around the time of my birthday in September, but it was starting to feel slow so I guess I was ready to take the next step sooner than I thought. I do still like it and if I hadn't decided to have only one bike I would have liked to keep it but I don't want a shed full of bikes I don't use regularly. I have been there before. Also gave me a chance to better understand what bikes were out there and what would suit what I wanted to do. I am hoping to keep the Honda for a least a couple of years but we will see. I don't think I want a big bike again but I suppose that could change also.4 points

What dose allopurinol are you on? There’s a lot of leeway in dosage on Allopurinol and if you’re suffering it’s worth frequent reviews until an optimum dose is arrived at. Most people get one increase in dose and think that’s it but that’s not the end of finding a therapeutic dose. Things like splitting a larger dose into twice a day can be very effective. Sometimes persevering with your treatment provider is the only way to free yourself. As you know allopurinol is no use at stopping a bout of gout in full swing, it only works as a preventive measure. Sometimes drugs don’t work effectively simply because the patient puts up with the symptoms rather than having the dose adjusted. Hope that’s not you?! If it’s effecting your daily living medication is worth a second/third/fourth look. It’s worth noting down the duration, frequency and intensity of your attacks and giving it to whoever in charge of your treatment4 points

I very rarely drink Fred, so it's not that, I have been getting it roughly twice a year for the last 20 years or so. Seems to be getting it more often now, suppose it is an age thing .3 points

Police in Liverpool last night announced the discovery of an arms cache of 200 semi-automatic rifles with 25,000 rounds of ammunition, 20 tonnes of heroin, £5 million in forged UK banknotes and 25 trafficked Ukrainian prostitutes, all in a semi-detached house behind the Public Library in Toxteth. Local residents were stunned and a community spokesman said, "We're all shocked, we never knew we had a library."2 points

That's a bloody contrast. Didn't really give it a chance but each to their own, I know mine freed up alot after 1000 miles. Still slow though.2 points

You did more miles than my mate , he bought one new but sold it after just 500 miles. Then he bought a KTM 1090, I think he wanted some speed back in his life after the Himalayan .2 points
