  1. Had a little bimble today on the Beta. I haven't been on it since November so it needed a run. First thing i noticed when getting ready was my bike trousers have shrunk i'd blame the wife's washing but she hasn't washed them so not sure whats going on there LOL. The bike fired up no problem i let it warm a little and off i went to explore some woodland a few miles from me I went over the old parish road from my fathers house its hard to believe i drove my reliant robin up here in the late 80's and my father drove a bubble car up here in the late 60's Had a little look about in the woodland below thought i found a new trail but it was a dead end I rode over to the next valley from here for another look about, started heading down through the woodland following a trail and lost track of where i was and wasn't too keen on going back up what i just came down, stopped here for a quick wee and to get my bearings A guy passed on a trials bike on the track at the bottom of this bank so i rode down to ask him the best way out after he told me i had to come back up as i left my glasses here after my wee Obligatory photo of a stream crossing Back on a track i know heading over to the Rhondda valley Had to cut the ride short as the low oil light came on i hadn't topped it up from the last ride and didn't check it before i left which is not like me i'm usually paranoid about the two stroke oil level This is looking up the Rhondda valley taken from a different location to my usual one which is about in line with with the handlebars on the hill in the distance by Miriam's bench It was good to get out but i could really feel my lack of fitness i need to get out more to build it back up even my thumb was hurting i think from when i bent it back crashing the dog a few years ago

  2. apparently it was the size of a small car.... they have found some wreckage which includes some remain of a BBS alloy wheel, a BMW bonnet badge , and the remains of a wet suit they believe the driver was wearing .... and a partly burned note pad of erratic rants that no one can make head nor tale of ..... hang on......

  3. Yesterday now. Did that rarest of things, I actually became a commuter. No rush hour traffic at 21:45 and don’t tell my insurer cause I ain’t. Rebel me. Fortunately the wildly exciting schizophrenic I’m with tonight is fast asleep and blissfully unaware. Worn out after beating up a member of staff last night. Never ceases to amaze me how these exciting incidents never happen when I’m here. it’s a puzzle.

  6. Black eye. bruises and a bit of amateurish strangulation. I did warn the manager that this one is unsuitable for our particular service and the level of training and experience most of the staff have. But.. what do I know?

I always carry 150ml of oil for emergency use but thought i didn't pack it in my rucksack but when i got home i found i had Doh!

  17. I paid £300 for a CB750F1 in bits in the late 80's it came with a new genuine Honda seat still in the wrapper which would have cost the best part of £300 on it's own then, i sold it for £500 a few years later but should have asked more my mate sold it for me and said people were still asking him if it was for sale months after it had sold

  18. you have to specifically mention commuting? wtf do they think a vehicle is for? the only thing that has to be mentioned on insurance here is if the vehicle ( whatever it may be) is used for work purposes. getting to and from work is not the same thing. ( unless you have an accident when it becomes a workplace accident)

  19. The GSs were varied though, there were a couple of Suzukis, a Triumph Trophy, the Harley, etc

  20. Not into this brand/model organised rideouts. Apart from appearing to be elitist, it always seems to me that they want the mutual reassurance of other owners to justify their bike choice!

  21. It was a collaboration between the portuguese company SIS that made the bike and assembled it under license from German Fitchel & Sachs who allowed their engines to be made here. It was a big thing in the 70s when big bikes like you had in the UK were big money. They're not unusual here, obviously. The V5 meant it was a proper bike, it had five gears

  22. Yesterday marked 5 years since the worst day of my life. Day went ok, considering, but I slept very poorly. Today got out of bed feeling hungover from lack of sleep, and went out for a ride and to meet a friend at the cafe for a burger and a chat. Weather was cold and only had a few rain drops, I enjoyed the little rideout and it did me good to get fresh air, food was nice and simple. It was also very entertaining to see a group of GS and other big trail bikes have serious difficulty in just riding out of a parking place, and then seing the NC group have similar difficulties riding into it, what is with groups that make people ride like shit? The NC people were having red wine with their sandwiches so I might have a clue why My friend commented that the GSs were riding waving cars passing the other way to slow down Coming back home stopped by the local supermarket where my load of bread was waiting for me hanging from the now closed door, didn't even have to get down from the bike to get it, class!

  23. Varied selection of bikes today at the cafe, the Portuguese made 2 stroke SIS Sachs oldie made me take the phone out and show you guys something not very common in the UK, and then I took a couple more pictures. Quite a range of different bikes there today Half ratty VFR750 with broken plastics was the loudest bike by far, which was a surprise considering the exhausts look so silent! Some kind of NC club had a rideout to the area, they had stickers made and everything

  44. Seeing my Himalayan’s days with me are numbered I was keen to get out for maybe a last bimble about. I went to a village called Lerryn about two miles as the crow flys from my house. Problem is that it is the on the other side of the river so it is about 15 miles to ride around. Well not so much of a problem as the sort of roads for the majority of the way are very well suited to the Himalayan. Mostly back lanes and B roads way below the sort of speeds that it feels breathless. Lerryn itself is an old and very beautiful place that is dominated by the tidal river. I love it there but as is the case with many scenic Cornish village’s anybody from them is eventually priced out. There is a small estate, formally social housing, just up the hill but apart from that the property values are eye watering. Anyway the tide was out today so probably not at its prettiest but still lovely. There is a shot of the stepping stones across the river, not to be attempted after a drink, I am sure you can guess how I know about that fact. Further up river from Lerryn is the tiny hamlet of St Winnow. One house one farm, a boatyard and a medieval 14th century church. The church itself is the wedding venue of choice for those who can afford it, as it is only practically accessible from the river. Absolutely idyllic place for such festivities. St Winnow church is also the ancestral church for the Vivian family. Baronial Blue bloods, MP's and such, in fact the old Lord Baths mother was a Vivian. When I got home I cracked 3000 miles on the Himalayan.

  45. Lovely crisp winters day today, chilly at first and there was plenty of fog still sitting on the Severn, Usk and the Wye this morning ............... Stopped to have a look at this bridge over the Usk, superb architecture .................. Bike parked up around the corner ..............

  46. I rode on up towards Abergavenny and then south to get to the Baffle Haus and have some breakfast ................. I bet nobody's filled up here in a while ................. Down towards Chainbridge and up the other side of the valley......... Care was taken on the back roads as there was still frost on the ground at midday. Stopped to chat to some of @XTreme's mates and admire the snowdrops ............... No giraffe-neck deer around here, just the normal ones ............ Then down the Wye valley to head for home, stopped at the Old Station in Tintern hoping to get a coffee but it was all closed today ............
