  3. I know a lot of people will think I am showing off, but when you work hard, you deserve to treat yourself. I can’t express the happiness I am feeling right now. White was the only colour they had, and I would have preferred blue but it doesn’t matter. I went for it and I’ve just purchased these four garden chairs, and I can’t wait for Summer!

  5. I forgot to post this the other day as I was being ill but in a manly way. As I walked past one of my windows I saw a large group of people standing across the road. Must be school chucking out time I thought, living very close to one, twice a day is usually pretty busy, usually with parents in cars that are too big for them to perform basic driving manoeuvres. Then I noticed one of the people had a top hat on with a veil hanging at the back, then it occurred to me that the rest were dressed pretty smartly. THEN I thought I was seeing things, but no, my picture shows it was so.....Delboy has diversified! They popped a coffin in the back and off the van went with a black limo following.

  9. Reading the oven instructions for the cooker that’s been unceremoniously dumped skewwhiff in the centre of the kitchen, fed up walking around it and it constantly shining away in a tormenting fashion. Sounds like it might be good one day Hoping to hear from Fowlers today or tomoz so I can go see my birthday prezzie at long last. Won’t hold my breath

  11. 2.8 auto out and 3ltr manual in. As I said, reconditioned start no workie. All I wanted to do today was see the oil pressure up. Back tomorrow to get the electronic ignition shite off etc and see that oil pressure come up on the hopefully working starter. Had a bit of a time getting the gearbox in, after checking and adjusting his clutch aligning all went together. It's a bloody good shell but previous owner's got someone to respray it the wrong colour with a lovely thick topcoat of orange peel. Can't help thinking that a modern day 2ltr would be much lighter and several buckets more power than this over weight engine and box but can't argue with the originality factor, and if I"m honest it's nice to play with some old school stuff. Talking of which I've been asked to fit a new type electronic ignition to a Norton Commando 850. Took me back a few years when I walked into his shed, nice condition but rose coloured glasses me thinks. Along with the RD 125, carbs back on and running, not too well yet though.

  12. Got friends from the UK over for the weekend, so I'm just having a bit of a clean up round the house. Not that it was badly untidy or dirty, but how else am I going to fill my days? Anyway, planning where to take them over the weekend. Maybe to the local supermarkets so they can see some fresh fruit and veg!

  13. I've been toying with the idea of another bike for ages, but don't want another one just sitting in the garage and I don't see myself going on a proper big ride and not take my current bike. I would like a Ducati DesertX for a little more offroad traveling, but can't see myself owning a Ducati. The thought of something shiny with metal parts like a Harley or a Triumph does sound nice but I can't see myself properly enjoying one on the roads I like to be on. A proper tourer like an RT does have appeal, but only if going on a really proper long trip with tarmac only. It'd be too much of a pain to take into and out of the garage. Another GS, non Adventure with proper offroad tires and a big engine crashbar, something less precious to me than my current one, this makes no sense but is the strongest candidate

  14. When is your birthday? Is it for celebrating the last one or the next one? I never bought myself a motorcycle for my birthday, it's a pretty good idea.

  15. And on the political front, there's no-one here that has any interest in trying to get into power other than to line their own pockets. Guy fawkes was the man with the plan. Living on the edge I am.

  17. Today I've been playing with the capri again. It's now got the right engine and gearbox fitted, 3ltr manual, but now the prop shaft is too long on the front section, the reconditioned start won't function and I've nearly finished my bottle of wine. Bollox.

  24. I read this morning that fuel now accounts for only 9% of total particulate pollution so they are now focusing on tyres as tyres and brakes account for 52% Non shedding slippery tyres here we come. Well that last bit might be over dramatic but hey this thread was started by Zzzak so believing made up crap is par for the course

  26. I've got a shed full of bikes needing MOTs and a dominator with the starter not working. The TDM which does have an MOT is just a total ball ache to get out the front due to the amount of junk in front and in the passage to get past. O and the rabbits. And its bloody raining.

  29. Shakshuka, it's spicy and comforting and full of tomatoness. Coriander from my garden made it better. You have it with crunchy toast. Had a load of carrots, onions, and didn't want to leave that home so decided to cook a rice with them. Roasted the onions and the carrots in the oven with a few spices, got a few bit of garlic to caramelize inside the skins, rosemary from the garden and olive oil, then made a rice on top of that. Used some saffron that I bought in Morocco, too.

  34. Going to look at flat on Monday in Bristol right next door to where Wallace n Gromit live (Aardman Animations), I’ll pop in and ask them for some other tops truths of the 21st century although Zzzak will be along in a minute to tell us the 21st century is a conspiracy to cover up the last 100 years.

  35. Eire as well I heard, despite them still being in the EU. Not been shopping since Monday night when I got a bad case of the man-sniffle/shiver and shakes, so have stayed indoors. All the veg I saw on show there has probably been snatched by the hoarders now, to put with their 3 years supply of toilet roll. Although I did actually buy some tomatoes, my nose had started running on Monday afternoon at work, so I always buy tomatos and oranges to give myself a vitamin C boost.

  36. Both appealing and sterile. There’s plenty of spit n sawdust places left round here. I like both. The clean places with a cafe you can eat in without wondering what the food hygienes like and the places where the owner works there and actually knows bikes inside out. There’s room for both I think.

  44. Cant get my head around their thinking sometimes the XR and Dominator use the same oil filter same oil and same quantity of oil yet the XR is a 500 mile interval and as you said the dominator is 2000 miles so i just change them both at 1000 miles because the XR gets a much easier life than what it was designed for and the dominator gets a much harder life than what it was designed for
