  1. Been to Fowlers. Have seen the incoming beauty. Hard to give you a decent appraisal cos I loved so much so immediately I couldn’t see properly Could pick it up tomoz! But as the plates change to 23 on Wednesday and the next day I can pick it up after that is Friday then Friday morning it is! It’s going to be a long week!

  3. Not a ride report, just going to @Sofia's from my place. It could be a 40 minute ride by taking the motorway, but I prefer to turn it into a 2 hour thing via small roads, money saved on the toll pays for lunch plus I just like these roads. Woke up feeling fresh after a very cold night in the countryside, clear blue skies but with rain for later in the day. Enjoyed a coffee outside listening to the morning After some work, I tidied the place and closed it ready for a few days with no person living there. Then packed my luggage onto the bike and off I went now at around well after mid day. I'm sure @XTreme would be in a panic anticipating starting a non Honda motorcycle, so this is just for him. I like the sound of the first start, more so when it's colder. Half an hour later, I stop to take pictures of a field of flower, this is also something @Slowlycatchymonkey would really find troublesome, her adventures are so packed with action she can´t afford one minute stopped somewhere. As I climbed the hill the temperature that had varied from 10 to 13ºC went to 5º at the top, with a little rain as we went up. Stopped at the cafe for lunch, looking forward to something warm to eat. Outside there were two 4WDs from the forest firefighters. Today they probably wouldn't fight anything but it's good to see they're around at least to clean hazards before the fire season. Let's hope Portugal can change the disgraceful course we have been having regarding forest fires. My lunch consisted of a burger complete with the exuberance of two slices of tomato inside. It was warm and nice and really hit the spot. First time I've sat inside this place in years, but today the outside wasn't a nice place to eat. A nice espresso to finish off and get back on the bike. When I first started coming here you would eat a burger, drink something and have coffee, and you'd have change from a 5 Euro note, now it's 7€, and it manages to surprise me every time. Same thing in a coastal town and that won't pay for the sandwich itself. Even though I sent a few emails and thought I had things under control during lunch, a few minutes after being on the bike the phone rings and I decide to give a client my attention and check a few things properly instead of having this issue in the back of my mind. Stopped at the side of the road: 20 minutes later and it looks like I'm riding into a storm, so stop and put the phone away. After that I zig zag avoiding the dark clouds that eventually catch me just 15 minutes before arriving at Ericeira, a proper rainfall for the last few kms, shame as I had washed the bike yesterday. There you go, turning a mundane trip into a ride report!

  6. Cruised up the road a bit to Estes Park, Colorado to have lunch today with the wife. Looked cold outside so we ate inside today. I have the chicken tenders with chips (Nashville Hot style) while the wife had chicken and waffle with some chutney crap on top. Chicken and waffles is kind of a southern thing - kinda odd to see it this far west.

  10. My bikes out the crate waiting to be pdi’d. Got some jobs to do in Brizzle so going to have a look at it. One son was coming back for the weekend but he’s still full of cold so I said no thanks. If it wipes a fit 20 year old out for over a week I don’t want to try it!!

  11. After two nights having a mini meltdown, yesterday I finally shut down and slept through the night. Woke up late and feeling ok, so will tidy up the place and leave to spend the weekend in Ericeira. Will take two pictures but it´ll be of my usual cafe location where I'll stop for lunch. It's sunny and cold here, so colds even the birds have only just starter chirping outside.

  13. This particular image of the Hubble space telescope was taken in May 2009 during the 5th servicing mission by the crew of the space shuttle Atlantis, they used a 6.3 megapixel camera. A Kodak DCS760 If you don't understand why no stars are visible in the photo then you should read a book on photography paying close attention to how bright objects that are the subject effect faint objects that are not, on film or a digital cameras sensor. its not complicated. The reason you cannot see any satellites in the image is because the Hubble space telescope is at a specific height of 332 miles and moving at 283 miles a minute. For there to be a visible satellite in the image the photo would have to be carefully planned. it wasn't. there are very likely satellites contained in the image. However the photo wasn't taken to show them in exactly the same way as it wasn't taken to include the background stars as that would ruin the image. film and digital sensors do not work the same way our eyes do. This is something you might understand if you read a book on photography. If I want to see satellites, all I have to do is go outside on a clear night and look up. Im typing this at 05:16. The ISS will be passing over in 15 minutes and if it wasn't so cloudy it would be as spectacular as it usually is.

  19. On my way home I stopped to put my gloves on and wrap up properly for the motorway. I had pulled into a little dead end by the Ragged School Museum just as the rubbish barge went past on the canal. That's a little Oompah Loomper marine dustman balancing on top.

  24. Great to see somebody showing a bit of initiative here and starting the weekend thread! I won't be doing anything on the bike (as usual) cos it looks pretty bleak here! And next week it's going down to -6! FFS! We're both still weak and lacking energy trying to get over this Long Covid/Flu thing.......and my back and sides are still stiff after all the coughing I've done. Though the coughing is pretty infrequent now thank god. Anyway, we'll be having the grandkids Saturday and Sunday afternoon.....nothing apart from that unless any work turns up.

  25. Waste of time though. Conspiracy nuts only ever ask questions. they never look for the answer themselves as they have lost all sense of reason and distrust everything. Obsessed with NASA and ignoring all the other space agencies in the world. They probably don't exist either. (like Australia) Everything is photoshopped. nothing is real. the earth is flat. and Lord Lucan is running a chip shop in Scunthorpe with Adolf Hitler and Elvis. With Michael Jackson doing deliveries on an electric scooter. (between 6 and 9:30)

  28. I remember a mate of mine getting caught out years ago by his missus. He gave some slag one in his car, went home and went to bed as normal. His wife pulled back the bedding in the morning and saw a mess all over him and the sheets. Yes......it appears she was on! And he was displaying the evidence. Difficult to talk your way out of that one!

  32. I don't ride to work every day now like I used to, COVID coming at the same time as work bringing in remote working practices sorted that for me. Usually when I go in now, it's a bit of a treat. I only went in today to unpack our stuff, which was mostly pointless as stated above. My aim has been to only do site visits when the weather is nice and at an hour that fits in with me getting up in daylight and mostly that is how it is working out this last few years. The trick is not to promise a meeting date and time before I have checked out the weather report. There is talk of compulsory office attendance on a regular basis as the Mayor has noticed no fucker is there, which may bring back my partial retirement plans that I had pre Covid. I also heard a vague rumour about a dress code, but I'm not wearing a dress even if all the other people do on a Friday lunchtime around there.

  35. I had to go into the office today to unpack our crates. I was buggered if I was parking miles away again so I got the blokes working nearby to make a little barriered off bike park for me. Still a bit close to the great unwashed but the best I was going to get. Remember, work is proud that we are now based in a vibrant buzzing area, I saw people being vibrant and buzzing all over the pavement at one point on my way in. Kept the bloody warden from ticketing it anyway. Two crates were missing and still no key fobs available for us, that's my lot, I've made two trips to unpack now, fuck 'em they can do the rest themselves.
