  3. Work as usual but only over Cwmbran way so no real distance involved and two plusses 1) it's indoors and we've been having some shit weather 2) It''s not a shit works, it's a clean water site so no need to watch where your treading or putting your tools down

  4. Mine fell and bounced a few times from waist height then rolled along our new town hall's heritage floor last week. I got a few looks in case I had broken their flooring. I did the carrying two bags a coat and a crash hat 'hand swap trick', you think you have all the straps in your new hand but one isn't. Won't be the last time that catches me out.

  5. Got my hotel in Grand Junction around 4:00 PM. Nice little ride today. Up early tomorrow to ride across the desert to Las Vegas. I'll be in the pool, scaring little kids and old ladies if you need me. More tomorrow....

  8. Bag is my stuff - the bike has the wife's helmet, her jacket and boots in it. One side bag has my camera gear in it with a cooler. Carrying stuff for two people does kinda suck. but the wife wanted to fly with a carry on only and didn't have room for riding stuff. Besides, I'm not old enough for a trailer yet.

  9. Big bag on the passenger seat on top of all that closed luggage space, have you considered a trailer?

  10. I love that the State of Colorado doesn't waste money on superfluous items like guardrails on their roads. If you plunge to your death then it's your own fault....

  11. This is the Colorado that no one ever hears about - it's not just all mountains. We have lots of desert, too ...

  12. Not a lot happened as I dropped out of the mountains and into the flats of the Western Slope. Temps steadily increased and topped out at about 76F / 25C near Grand Junction. It felt like heaven to me as I finally escaped cold weather on a bike for the first time in a long time. Got to GJ too early to check in to my hotel so I cruised around a bit. Cool to see the ground change to sandstone from the granite and schists like we have at home...

  13. Temps were about 40F / 4C at this point and I was hoping for warmer air...

  16. They will have two members of staff on board. A safety driver will sit in the driver's seat to monitor the technology, and a so-called bus captain will help passengers with boarding, buying tickets and queries. surely this is a wind up...

  18. The oil & filter change around £80.....bushes no idea of the cost of them , or how many are on the anti roll bar, will see how much of that bill is labour charge when I collect the car.

  19. No idea if that's expensive! Mainly because I've got no idea what an anti roll bar bush is!

  21. Decided to make this mornings walk to the tiny 'high street' next to where I live. I've not been there other than to drive through for years due to it being down at heel and not having anything useful in it - four estate agents, three pubs, two funeral parlours and six - yep six barbers. It's changed a bit around here since I last ventured out. As I walked along passing people said "Good Morning" and smiled.. WTAF where have the miserable ne'er-do-wells gone? There are now three cafes in the high street, quite full of people (who look like they have a wash every now and then) enjoying a cup of tea or breakfast chatting away. And BONUS theres now a butcher.. a BUTCHER a really bloody live (or mostly dead) butchers. I know where I'm walking tomoz, there will be thick cut fat marbled steaks at the end of this rainbow.

  24. That's it Pete, you have hit the nail squarely on its head, it reminds me of a quote by St Antony the Great. “A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they will attack him, saying, 'You are mad; you are not like us.”

  26. He's got a nice R80GS, with nice tires that'll shit all over those lighter singles that everyone seems to be lugging around at one gear higher than they should. Man, this is really getting to me, isn't it?

  27. I like the "hooray henry" thing, don't really know what it is but feels right. When they stop behind someone and all of them look around wondering what's happening reminds me of a Portuguese saying that means "doesn't fuck nor does he let anyone else fuck either" I dislike that way to see a country. If you want to go racing then go racing, if you want to go trail riding or traveling then respect the place and don't do it amongst 120 other bikes. They were stopped on a village, right next to a local restaurant while he was showing his tuna can and had just eaten a candy bar, seems to me the cafe guy looking at them shares my opinion This was the mountain pass they did at the end, except done with class: Very cool looking bikes, though. I wonder if I can press that mechanic button to have that guy come over and get my XR running

  28. I'm always smashing my helmet into things can't seem to help it. At the moment my helmet looks like its been raped by a troop of monkeys it's had a right old battering and it's covered in shit, so in the process of looking for a new one but never spend much because of the abuse it receives. Usually change it every 3 to 4 years depending on wear and tear

  33. Current shoei is 5 years old, no intention of replacing it yet. It has minor monkey damage, managed without the aid of live monkeys and a simple bit of gravel.

  39. I keep mine until I feel like changing them, they get a hard life from the summer sweat and dust. Also it seems like I can't help but drop them, the last one was bounced down a cobblestone street (my head not inside, thankfully), the current one knocked off my bike by a monkey...

  41. I suppose I keep mine on average for about 7 years unless it's had a bash but it's hard to tell as I've always got at least three on the go.
