I understand your reason Clive and to be honest I am a lot like that, just easy going let the world go by most of the time, but sometimes you gotta hold on to what is you. I am lucky with my Mrs she doesn't stop me doing anything with my singing or biking and I have nothing to say about her horse stuff. But we both gave up alot when the kids came along, later in life and doing that you do lose something of yourself and it can effect your head. Sorry if I am reading to much into it mate but think before your jump.5 points

It's kinda complicated, but anything for a peaceful life that's me. Deaf yeah, but that's not a reason (or reportable health condition to the DVLA) to stop riding, just don't want the hassle.5 points

Don't do it Clive, it'll be the begining of the end. I can't possibly know what your personal circumstances are but for me there is no way I'd give up my bike because my wife didn't like it.5 points

Practicing now and waking the house up. Singing in a Variety show Saturday night so squeaky bum time until it's done. Wondering why I agreed to do it at the moment. . Washed the bike this morning hoping to get out on it over the weekend as the weather looks good, trip down west on the cards for me.5 points

Anyway, let's draw a line under the discussion about the scoot..... Better get these bedding plants in while the sunshine's........oh joy.4 points

I tend to agree with that.......it's not just a fact that you won't have a bike, it's more that something you've had all your life is ending. If there comes a time it has to happen through age, illness, or infirmity then it's your body telling you no more.....not your wife. When I first met my missus in 1982 I told here I'll always have bikes until I physically can't do it any more. The only time she gets wary of me going on a bike is when I meet up with somebody.......just in case I start being stupid!4 points

Just been out playing with set up for a trip or two. I don’t think I will need it all for a few days away, after all shoes and a couple of changes in clothes how much am really going to need in the UK. Probably just use the tail pack and cases. I never imagined it but I am finding the tank bag Brilliant for choir. Just an easy way to carry my music and bits4 points

Down now. .....it's depressing looking at the scoot stood in the shed doing nothing, going nowhwere, wife just sees it has a waste of money (insurance & tax)t. I though I will clean the scoot.....it's as clean as new, I could do a oil change! Bugger only covered 30 mile since I last did it but while it's stood I ain't costing me anything, it even has a full tank (12 litres) of petrol.. As said, all I want is a good home with no hassle.3 points

I think you'll be pretty down if it goes Clive. I've only done 2000 miles in the last year but at least it's here! So it sort of gives hope that when it eventually stops raining (hopefully before the wall of heat comes down) I'll be able to get out and ride. It's the only tangible connection between me as I am now and my younger self. If that connection gets cut then what I have got going forward?3 points

Made in Japan by Nissan, built to last. I'm inspired by this car, I get €340 a week from the pension plus free medical and €300 in fuel cards a year. I pay €180 rent from that so I can get by but it won't last due to the government importing infinite darkies so the rent will rise exponentially. I can park the worlds best bike in a friends garage in a small town close to here. Then I can drive around Australia on the kings shilling, it has to be better than driving a bus and paying rent. This car is one of the best things that have happened to me, take a look at this. My lease is up in August, that gives me time to make arrangements, this could be the start of a whole new life. I would have my mates place to come home to as well, for the pension I need a postal address so that's sorted, I'd rent his garage and sell most of my furniture. I have my Pajero for sale, check my ad. I always wanted to go around Aus, this could be it and I have somewhere to come back to rent free. I'm pumping.3 points

For a change we have sunshine today but still a cool easterly breeze. The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plains? Really3 points

Been out pissing about with a set of throw overs I bought for my Himalayan ages ago and never used. They were cheap so that is a consolation. Got them on ok but don’t know if I will ever use them now as I have some hard cases. Impressions though are that using this sort of bag would be a pain. Not sure I would trust them with much more that a bit of shopping. Also not secure at all so you couldn’t leave anything in them. Plus also pretty sure the would rub where they touch the paint. Back in the corner to dust catch I think.3 points

Doubt it, don't use the scoot (covered 150 miles since last MOT) so not much point getting a replacement2 points

At the moment debating putting the scoot on Marketplace, but would have to take it for a MOT as it is up at the end of July,it would sell better (if I put it up for sale) better with a years ticket on it.2 points

I have had a test ride of a barge a few years ago and never in my life do I want to throw a leg over another one as long as I live it was bloody horrible, manoeuvring the thing was cumbersome the only time it made any sense was on a dead straight bit of road and even then it felt floppy and disconnected, in the corners the footboard would be scraping the deck at anything more than a slight kink in the road. It was a 2019 street glide special...... it was definitely special alright so special infact that the only place it should live is in the funny farm, in my honest opinion harley riders are akin to vegetables because you'd have to be as stupid as a vegetable to actual willingly buy one2 points

I used to do a fair bit of off road and there were a few lads on KTMs. None of them said they were bad bikes as they were so good off road but none would have described them as extremely reliable. Popping fork seals, petrol leaks and a mass shedding of bolts. We always got home with spare bolts tie raps and tape. DRZ seemed trouble free in comparison.2 points

2007 with the black frame, the others were silver, I got it on special in 2008 as a run out model as the 990's had arrived so they added the luggage kit and dropped the price to AU$16,500. I financed it and when I went to sign the agreement the salesman said to me, "you've got a great deal on the loan", he was shaking his head while he looked at it. It was $280pm for five years, do the math, 60 x 280 = 16,800, so apart from a $300 fee for the contract it was interest free, I only paid the asking price, he was right, it was a great deal. I have always thought that the bike chose me, I just came across the ad by chance, I wasn't looking for a new bike but it didn't take long to change my mind when I threw a leg over, maybe there's a reason I have kept it for 16 years. It's like a faithful pet, after 7 years it fired up almost instantly and its raring to go, I can tell that when I rev it. It's also the best bike ever made and I defy anybody to prove me wrong, I'll open a debate on why my bike is better than ours with any of you if you're up to the challenge. This is what it looked like on 17/5/2008 when I picked it up, sorry about the watermark, I can't find the original file.2 points

Your right Pedro i remember when he bought a Honda CRV it wasn't long before he longed for the BMW badge again, i think he said something like the Honda just didn't have the unreliability of the BMW and he liked how the BMW got him to meet new people, mostly breakdown truck drivers LOL2 points
