Just got back and still no water......it's been out since around midnight. There's an announcement on the Town Hall FB page: "It is reported that there is a general water cut due to an electrical failure at the well transformer, it will be restored as soon as possible." A woman posted "In 2023, shit in the bank, we'll be fine". So I'm off to Santander's office to take a fucking massive dump!4 points

This is my mate's personal review of his new Transalp ............... Well, 150 odd miles today. Handling brilliant on road at speed and wonderful balance at walking pace. Brakes good (smaller Nissans than an AT but bigger disks & it works well) Finish - pretty shite in some areas, cheaply covered ill fitting seat, exhaust system real tatty ugly affair. Swing arm welds are good but some of the frame welds done by a trainee monkey robot ? Wind noise from lower fairing drowns out the week sounding silencer Cheap feel and look to the levers. pillion pegs can't be removed because they also hold the silencer bracket some of the wiring looks a bit ugly, wound in black tape. Coolant pipes don't have a decent finish either. The suspension settings on dry off-road rough stuff was great straight out the box, but without a sump guard you don't want to get silly. Not a review, just some of the things I've noticed on my first day and nothing that can't be sorted. Trouble is ,I'm making comparisons with a very well built and finished 701 and an ever better built Dragster. The reason I bought this bike is because it's a Honda. I know it'll just go on and on back and forth across two counties to my old mums care home. The Dragster is back at the dealers after another tantrum, The 701 seat and my arse won't talk to each other................ I rest my case !2 points

Iam going (hopefully ) for the day out and a look around, no racing (from what I gather) just some old and new era bikes buzzing around the track.2 points

The next thing to need attention was the cush drive rubbers in the hub. They had been mounted with some silicone sealant by the previous owner (a common trick to stop transmission slop)........... Once I got the rubbers out I was left with this ............... but brake cleaner and a scraper got it clean , this was the crap that came out .................. with the hub cleaned I fitted some Polyurethane cush drives from Procycle. These are supposed to be much better than the rubber originals .............. The cush drive was then mounted to the wheel and then the wheel was squeezed back into the bike ...............2 points

So it's time for some work on Miss America as I have a trip to France/Italy coming up soon. First job was to change the rear tyre , there's a Mitas E-09 on there (fitted by the previous owner) and they can be a bitch to remove so get the shit job done first Leave them out in the sun for a while , much easier to work on a warm tyre ............. Get the ABBA bead breaker on it and squirt some WD-40 into the bead ................ and then lever it off, looks easy enough in the photos but it took about 30 mins on the bead breaker to get it done.........2 points

That's good because we get a lot of peeps who don't get it and disappear straight away. We have a Matron to keep us in check every so often , isn't that right @Slowlycatchymonkey2 points

MotoGP Saturday sprint race was on If the reset didn't work and they often don't then it's hands on time. I could explain the use of a test light but suspect I'd be wasting our time.2 points

Us Celts are the tops. The "Foil Cape of Brynaman" is a 3rd century relic made from pure platinum which was, at the time, mined exclusively in the British Isles near Prestatyn. The cape was beaten from a single piece of platinum, probably using deer antler & conkers. The cape was unearthed in 1938 in upper Brynaman by a local farmer whilst clearing an old well. Incredibly he used the cape to patch a hole in a shed roof until it was recognised for what it was 30 years later, when a travelling antiques dealer spotted it gleaming in the summer sun. The cape was taken to the British Museum for verification and restoration. The farmer received £1000 in compensation from the Queen which he used to buy the first Ford Capri in West Wales at a cost of £890. The cape is believed to have been commissioned by Arglwydd Arfryn (Lord Arfryn) a fierce warlord who ruled all the lands from Garnant to Cwmllynfell. He was defeated at the battle of Cwm Gors by Sir Keith of Monmouth in 378. Sir Keith happened to be passing through when he accidentally spilt a pint of mead belonging to Arfryn in the beer garden of the Queen of Hearts. All hell broke loose and Arfryn, who was on his ninth pint, was slain as he attempted to order a tenth mid battle. Sir Keith continued on his journey, and the area, particularly north of the Napoli pizza and kebab takeaway has remained lawless until this very day. The local heritage society is raising funds in order to commission a replica of the cape and to restore the Ford Capri, both of which would go on display in the proposed Upper Brynaman Museum which will have a cafe serving hot and cold snacks and Welshcakes.2 points

Car wouldn't start so I had to take the wife over on the bike to feed the horses. She reckoned it was a lot better than what she expected......very smooth and comfortable, with no power band that I can rip into in order to act stupid. She's never forgotten when I scared her to death on the Thundercat back in the 90's. But despite the bike being pretty good, predictably she said it wasn't as nice as Big Bird. However.....Big Bird doesn't get us home! This one will. Incidentally it was the exactly the same time last year that the brakes went on the Beemer outside the horses area! But this is a Honda so no such drama! But there's always a downside! Cos when we got home I found that she'd had horse shit on her boots and it's now smeared all over the pillion footrests! I'm going to have to sell it now.......it'll never be the same again!1 point

The water was so obviously flavoured I bought a Brita filter on my first shop after arriving here in Sept 2021 But even with that it still produces sub standard tea. I tested the total dissolved solids (TDS) and they're 376-380 before filtering. Filtering with a Brita filter only reduces that number by around 100 which isn't great. I'm getting a 'Zero' filter and if that doesn't do the trick much to my chagrin I'm going to have to switch to bottled. I love Spain can't be doing with it messing with my cup of tea!1 point
