Paolo and I had a walk around Bristol centre and the waterfront today. The sky was beautiful and no rain (apart from the bit near @Slowlycatchymonkey ) The Hatchet Inn, reputedly the oldest Inn in Bristol............. The Council House, where they manage to spend money on useless shite day after day after day................ We are twinned with Porto ........... The central library............. Bristol cathedral............. There's even a statue of @Buckster6 points

And down to the waterfront.............. This storming great thing is so big it even has it's own mini-copter............ Then we went for some lunch and had the shittiest Foccacia I've ever eaten........... Paolo had some birthday money to spend so we popped off to the shops before getting the bus back home.................5 points

New earth lead fitted, and the seat tub and tupperware back on, give it a clean now, covered in greasy finger marks. Clear blue sky here now ☀5 points

I know it well! Wandered in there on my own in Summer 1971 and it was full of hookers and Skins......then this guy staggered across the room with his head split open. Very intimidating place with guys trying to stare you out! I was just gone 17 and it was my first time out of Swansea. Anyway, a full crew of us from Swansea, Gorseinon, and Bont (around 30 in total which included a couple of total psychos) went back there about a year later on bikes, and in cars and vans! Plus, I'm fairly sure that my mate Whippet from Clase had his sawn off in his old Hillman Minx cos he always carried it round for protection from Skins. Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding we got banned from there within 15 minutes (and the Police got called) cos one of the psychos completely destroyed a metal serving tray by repeatedly hitting himself over the head with it while singing "Mule Train". Why he chose "Mule Train" I have no idea! I told him "Whole Lotta Love" would have been a much better choice! He eventually got put down for Grave Robbing (don't ask me) and one of the other ones there got life for Murder a couple of years later. I'd estimate half of them never made it into the 80's for various reasons. Over 50 years later I could well be the only one left standing! Good days......simple pleasures back then!4 points

I wouldn’t mind the painting so much if it didn’t always seem to involve so much prep work. Even Mr Slowly will offer to to a bit of rollering once there’s no danger of having to do anything else Right now my least favourite- stain blocking a brown grease coloured kitchen ceiling before it can even be painted. The sugar soap didn’t touch it. Tbh I don’t think one coat of stain block will be enough to hold it back. God I need a cup of tea and to be too busy to help next time4 points

I will add that there is some excellent manufacturing in China when they apply proper quality control standards but that also bumps up the prices, most people expect Chinese stuff to be cheap and accept that the quality will therefore be questionable.3 points

Might I interject at this point? I am sure that there are some decent Chinese copies of other peoples bikes, of the 12 Chinese and 1 Taiwanese constructer I deal with at work some are better than others, some really want to improve and are trying, others clearly dont give a flying F about quality, or reliability or longevity or any of it. They also do NOT adhere to any european or western laws about availability of parts or honoring warranties. If the importer and dealer are any good the cost of honoring warranties is built into the sale cost of the bike, so you can imagine how much the bike is actually worth... To be fair I don't deal with CF or some of the other Chi.com makes and we only import 50 and 125cc models ( along with quads and SSV's ). All of the bikes we import are chinese copies of Yamaha, Honda, or even Derbi, but they do not copy the quality, only the design. the quality ( on the bikes) is mostly absolute shite, so its not just because they copy a good design that the fabrication process is as good.3 points

Pricey mistake. Had V6 Audi come in the garage when I was working there, Looked very much like a rear crank seal leak, I couldn't give a price as I wasn't convinced it was just that with the amount of oil everywhere. And I didn't want to do it.3 points

get the bike back tomorrow, it having been parked at work waiting for "wemoto" to deliver the drive shaft sprocket and nut that I lost on the road last week. They still haven't delivered but I "found" a nut the right size "lying around" in a box at work so "liberated" it from a life on a chinese quad and pressed it into service on my Tiger. I need a chain and sprocket replacement any way so I guess it'll hold till I can get that organised. I was trying to figure out when I last ad the chain and sprockets replaced and the last bill I can find for it goes back to 2018, 40,000km ago ( that's nearly 25,000 miles) which seems a lot, even for a slow arse like me, especially with all the TLC I don't give the chain. I can fine no trace of having had another since, does that even seem feasable?2 points

I normally have my textile over trousers on by October, only go for my gortex boots if it is actually pissing down, which could be at any time down in the far south west on our narrow peninsula. So I reckon your friend should take his overtrousers and gortex boots or get wet if s/he gets unlucky2 points

That’s just crazy, decorating is literally watching paint dry It’s the prep the does me in, takes 3 plus times more than the actual rollering.2 points

Have been looking at routes to Brighton next week. Thinking of taking the BSA as Mr Slowly wants to try out a new luggage configuration meaning for the first time ever I will be carrying nothing except a bank card and my phone. Whoop whoop. Have even scouted out a pub with a view so if the weathers good (fatal words I know) there may even be a picture or two! No promises, pigs might fly2 points

A couple of nights ago I found another app on our TV, Pluto TV with lots of free stuff on there. We watched a film called Mortdecai, it was bloody funny. best film I've watched in ages. https://pluto.tv/en/on-demand/movies/mortdecai-2015-1-1-ptv1/details?utm_source=google&utm_medium=textsearch&utm_campaign=1000732&utm_content=10007326&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIr-aCn7nkgAMVksXtCh2DdAt0EAAYASAAEgIbMPD_BwE1 point

We had a bloke who used to do the mule train thing, he wore a Watneys Red Barrel tray into the Hatchet as he had already punched a hole in it while performing in the Full Moon. There was a full-on punch up within five minites of him walking in there There was a pub just over the road on the opposite corner and there were regular fights in the middle of Frogmore street between the two pubs when the pubs used to kick out at 11.00pm1 point

definately not weel maintained. I think I did actually clean it once or maybe twice but otherwise, just regular lube. I know i've rarely needed to adjust it.1 point

If it was a quality chain like a DID and it's kept well maintained then 25K miles is quite realistic.1 point
