Made it home today. Yesterday we had a lovely evening back in Portugal, and today rode to my parent’s place using mostly small roads. The absence of cameras was a shock, but we got used to it. I hope there were no cameras, too. I will look at making a ride report but I’ve got hundreds of pictures, mostly from bikes in museums, so it may take a while. Good trip, though, and we did end in a high which is always great because it dictates the mood with which you look back on it.6 points

Raining here all night.... but the little tree frogs that hang out under my house, seem to be liking it. When that rare tropical storm came in from the Pacific that hit the LA area last month....it headed NE & missed Portland, but dumped 6" of H2O in 36 hrs. here in Elgin ....surprisingly, it didn't cause any flooding or damage....it was so dry from August's heat blast, the ground just soaked it all up!6 points

This has turned up at Parbados this year. It’s a time and tide bell. One of 13 that will stand on beaches around the British coastline. It is rung by the incoming and out going tide, it is supposed to warn of global sea level rise. Of course the Dear Boy couldn’t give a flying feck about it Not my photo but you get the jist6 points

I thought I would take the chance for ride before Storm Agnes gets here tonight. Pretty warm around 19c. I had my winter jacket and was bloody hot at times. There is a very similar Iron Age for near Fowey called Castle D’or but that has cattle on it so it’s dodgy to go there. There is a stunning view from Castle An Dinas. You can see Dartmoor in the far distance and all of Goss moor much closer. Also have a good view of the Clay Pits over at Greensplat. The A30 and much else. Made me wish I had a drone or better camera. After my walk I rode past Dameralls on the way home. They seem to be stocking up again. I liked the AT they had there and a nice 2012 T100 Bonnie. Also 3 CB500X’s and 2 Transalps in stock. They Also had a X-Cross 1200 DCT but that thing was huge.5 points

Car insurance renewal was almost double, the best I have found on shopping around is still £40 more than last year. Current insurer couldn’t match it but still got their quote down by another £30, I guess a lot of people just accept it and pay. I’m glad I don’t have some high insurance group piece of crap like a Jag sat on my driveway, renewal price on things like that must be horrendous.5 points

The wind chill when soaked is pretty bad but the worse bit is all your gear still being wet the next day. Not a barrel of laughs.4 points

Some folk just like to grit their teeth and go for it don’t they. Pit themselves against the conditions. Suffer with a bit of that myself, it’s stupid but you do it anyway When I had a wee ride in a storm (I’ll never do it again) I was on a much heavier, lower bike and luggage weight was low down, I still abandoned the insanity half way across Bodmin moor as ‘death or hotel?’ is quite an easy game choice4 points

I did it countless times when I worked as a bike courier in 2012, it wasn't nice but some of the conditions I rode in were verging on suicidal3 points

Quadlock inserted itself as an advert in a youtube short I was watching (how do they know these things?!) and it was showing a natty little mount that screws into the cover, a clever solution for those short on bar space. https://www.quadlockcase.co.uk/products/motorcycle-brake-reservoir-mount?variant=426967407986393 points

Do you wake up with a song in your head ? I used to write down a list at one time. In one year I woke up to this in my head at least four times . That was seriously disturbing ...................2 points

It is pricey but it’s one of the better solutions I’ve seen. Assuming the reservoir housing is up to having a carbuncle attached and high speed winds applied I suppose the worse that could happen is it’s not and you need a new reservoir, the reviews are positive though. If I get one I’ll probably go for Peak design cos although they’re more expensive than quadlock (£80 for the mount ) the case is a slim, normal width one and its MagSafe compatible. Taking a case on and off to charge it is never gonna to happen.2 points
