Well that hasn’t started positively. Got in the queue to check in hold luggage and when it opened they decided to change the desk to the one next to me so I ended up at the back of the queue. No issue really until they then decide that the original desk number was in fact correct so we all trudge back and now I’m at the back of the back of the fucking queue. Fast forward 30 mins and now I get pulled over at the security point for a random check. Everyone stares as if I’m a criminal and the security guard is clearly on a power trip. Cunt. At least I haven’t been bummed. Yet.8 points

I had a yellow 1300L. Wasn't long before I stuck a 2000cc engine and gearbox in on the 1300 axle. Used to get to a ton in no time but would go no more as it was out of revs.6 points

He’s better after breaking his leg, only drove him today because yesterday he curbed a wheel in his car and it had to urgently be fixed as he couldn’t live with it. He’s not acting less like a twat since getting sick, which I suppose is a good thing?5 points

"There is no power at the bulb connector and then I traced to wiring to the fuse box and there is no power there. I suspect it might be the relay at fault as I have power going in and as far as I can tell none coming out" . You should be able to bridge 30 and 87 to get the light on. The other 2 should give you vehicle voltage with the bike running.4 points

It has been a few years since we used air travel, would have to renew our passports, and I don't think it is really worth it. Looks like Jersey or Guernsey is the furthest we could fly, but I hear its damn expensive there, so that rules that out.4 points

I flew from there plenty of times when it first opened and it was brilliant, because it was so quiet in there. I used to fly UK Air to Glasgow, Edinburgh or Aberdeen on a weekly basis, or even several times a week at times, and at that time you could park out the front of the terminal building, stroll in and be on the plane within the hour! Not so, now!4 points

It's gone manic here with work! I got two sites on the go and this morning I was contacted by a very prestigious classic bike dealer in the UK. What he's got is all screwed up and the twats can't sort it out......so he asked around for somebody who can actually do it properly and my name came up. So I'm doing a Demo for him now as well.4 points

Me too, but it's more convenient than the 2 day drive from here back to blighty. Fortunately most of our local airports are fairly small, so it's never too much of a problem, but coming back from Stansted or Gatwick are usually a nightmare!4 points

That is interesting Fred. I am not sure if it is grass is greener syndrome with me. I do like the look and reputation of the AF, but I am not sure if I just want something with a bit more kick than my CB500, which itself is quick enough really. Like you I almost invariably change my mind once I go for a ride on it. Just so easy to live with. Perhaps I am looking at things from the wrong side. I do like the look of the new Hornet and that would definitely have more kick but I am missing some wind protection so perhaps the Transalp or NC750X, or even the new Tiger Sport 660. Weight is an issue for me to, 16 years away from rugby and weight training and I am nowhere near as strong or nimble as I used to be when I had bigger heavier bikes. I tipped my CB over in a carpark recently, rushing, and I didn't find it easy to pick it up so there is that to consider. Perhaps I should stop navel gazing and just enjoy what I have.4 points

I did a similar thing to my 1300 Escort van . I put engine from a Mk2 Cortina 1600GT in it. Quick up to 85mph and then it ran out of puff3 points

I don't even have to be on a curbstone to do this, I can fall off a perfectly flat pavement!3 points

If you've no real interest in going offroad, then something more road focused would be better? Another alternative is a V-Strom 650? Legendary reliability and comfort.3 points
