After a swift coffee from my flask I rode down to Naunton to ride the lane that James had ridden three months ago ........... Then i rode some more lanes in the area.............. and then onto the fords at Kineton. The concrete exit ramp nearly caught me out here as it was very square-edged and caused me to stall on the exit but luckily i started quickly and got away without dropping the bike ........... and then I rode some more lanes before turning south ............. This one was annoying as it had SIX gates along it, a pain in the arse when you're on your own ................ At the end of Ryknild street I came across this , what's going on when Crocuses are growing in October ? and then I rode some proper green lanes to get back to the Fosseway north of Cirencester............. I also found a new (to me) lane on the way back ............. and then stopped at my cross to get a photo ............ and then the rest of the way back was spent dodging showers...............5 points

So having seen the sad passing of James Higgs I thought I'd look at his you tube channel and see where his last videos were. He had put up a video of a lane at Naunton on the Cotswolds so today I decided to go and ride it and a few others in his memory. The weather was decent when I left Bristol at 9.00 but by time I got onto the Cotswolds it was quite foggy.......... By time I got up to the old WW2 airfield near Chedworth I was dying for a piss so into the woods I went, while I was there I stumbled upon an old building . @XTreme would have been proud of me but there were no dead dogs inside so I left a bit sharpish ........... I got down to Compton Abdale and there was evidence of how wet it has been ............... I rode through Salperton and onto the first lane which ends at the Notgrove long barrow .................. There was evidence of me bashing through the undergrowth on my top box.............4 points

The first brand new bike i ever bought was a 1993 Africa Twin, i went into my local Honda dealer pointed at it in the brochure and said i want that one, it took a month to arrive and i wasn't disappointed when i took it out for the first time it was one of the best feeling of my life. Every other bike i had to test ride mainly because they were second hand and i wanted to make sure they were mechanically good. The XTrainer i never had a test ride on either but i did have a go on one when they were first introduced which i think was in 2016 and have been dreaming about one ever since LOL4 points

I think it must vary according to the insurance the dealership hold. I rode an MT09 and MT10 no problem at one, a speed triple at another but the Honda said no (6pts). In fairness they did call their insurers to try to swing it but computer says no. I don’t have any problem with that, after all it’s my own fault for having the points. I did really like the look of the Honda and it was a good fit but I am not going to buy a bike I can’t try. I have 1 and a bit years till they expire and I can’t wait. First time in my life I’ve ever had 6 ( and I had zero for 10+ years before these) and it’s a pain in the bum.4 points

I have an ancient BMW waistcoat (is that a gilet?) that I bought years ago when working on a ship in refit up at Birkenhead and was riding home every weekend through the winter. It was brilliant and I might have to dig it out and start using it again. A good while ago as I’ve been retired ten years come April. Time flees.4 points

I've been to both. You can visit Imber village twice a year , we usually do a trail run to it. I used to deliver to some of the tunnels under and around Corsham, I've even driven a small lorry under one of them. A lot of big wine companies use them nowadays as the temperture down there is perfect for storing wine.2 points

To clarify, I wouldn’t expect to ride the exact bike in buying, but if I’m getting a cb1000r I do want to ride one. When I got my FTR I rode one at a dealership near me but they didn’t have a used one that suited me so I bought one from a dealership in Edinburgh and had it delivered. Sorry if I wasn’t clear.2 points

Back from the Mall. Remembered about 30mins after brekky finished that I really really hate shopping, even if it is with my son Good to see some stuff in the flesh though because it’s so hard to gauge the quality of some things from online pics or reviews.2 points

That’s the underground car park where the Ikea pick up point is hidden, there are many ranting reviews by morons who can’t find it swearing it doesn’t exist and Ikea are wasting everyones time That Burger King does gluten free burgers, because I haven’t been able to have a burger from a fast food place for many decades it made me feel about 10yrs old when I went there2 points

What Nute said about not buying before trying... most of the bikes i have had i didn't ride before i bought em, any one else do this or do you have to ride em first ? i just put it down to my rugged individualism .2 points

Certainly! Here are two possible points related to the "Kitt Hill Bike Meet" on October 22, 2023: Community Gathering: The Kitt Hill Bike Meet likely serves as a gathering for bike enthusiasts and the local community. It provides an opportunity for people who share an interest in biking to come together, exchange experiences, and build a sense of camaraderie. Potential Activities and Features: Events like this often include various activities and features. This could range from group rides, bike displays, workshops, vendor booths, food and refreshments, and possibly even competitions or demonstrations. These elements enhance the overall experience for attendees and offer a diverse range of engagements. Here is my website about bikes. You can get all kinds of solution from here.1 point

I have a heated jacket its quite thin so fits under my normal jacket although does make it a little tight. I find i don't have to turn it on half the time as it's warm enough, i normally switch it on when heading home in the evening when the temperature really drops making the ride home much more enjoyable, i put it on full until i smell bacon cooking and then leave it on simmer. I only wear a t shirt under my jacket all year around so i'd say it does a good job. Although my wife has discovered it now, last time we were out on a cold ride together she was complaining she was cold so like a fool i let her wear it and i froze my nuts off all the way home.1 point

That used to be the same for me but not anymore. I'm looking at suspension first and if it isn't that great then how you can make it better. You can have all the power you want but if the suspension isn't working properly then that power could get you in trouble.1 point
